Tom is a UNIQUE musician and the reason why i still listening to his music since 84, is because he plays in a way that NOBODY can replicate. That's really humble of him to say he's a mediocre guitar player but I still admire his riffs on Morbid Tales that's true greatness right there. Classics.

Spiritually, me and Tom are completely opposite but I always like hearing what he has to say. I find him extremely inspiring. Sure, he's not Malmsteen, but his ability to write dark and heavy riffs that are also catchy is unparalleled. His playing and songwriting is so refreshing amid a sea of over technical and extravagant guitar wankers.

I read also a book by a military historian, John Keegan. Though I don't think he'd disagree with Tom, he did have some positive things to say! There have been significant, never before seen caps to warmaking. The spirit is there, at least. And maybe one day, we'll have psychological assessments for all political leaders as standard.
Straight into the deep... I love that. I'm sure The Message is about how we receive information, and messages, for instance emails, and how we respond. But also about what we construe *as* a message. It could also be about how we perceive what we notice - acceptance from a record label all the way to a largescale military invasion miles away, seen on the news. What internal effect we get from external causes. It can be surprising. That's perhaps what Jung was getting at?
I agree regarding his views on humanity - but the rest of nature is brutal, so remove us and we would still have the brutal. The tragedy is, we appear to have potential to fix a lot of this nightmare, but appear to lack compassion, wisdom & the will to act for the good. I believe he is also vegan, which is very unusual in the metal world, in my experience.
It is one of the greatest stupidities of the human race that we don’t fix what is very much fixable with our impact on the natural world and focus on profit instead. I believe you’re right about him being vegan. One can only respect his dedication to preserving life.
I don't agree with him about everybody being horrible and destructive. True, there are some. It is mostly the people at the top, the tyrants, if you will. Normal humans, the masses, are generally peaceful and kind.
