I’m new to your channel. Just finished your home tour and just now your kitchen. What a lovely cozy home! The best part I can tell it’s filled with love.😘
Your kitchen is one of my favorite RUclips kitchens. 🙂 I also have a 1950's kitchen. I wouldn't trade the warm colored wood smelling drawer and cabinet insides for anything.
Your little tea cabinet was built to store matches to light the stove. Grandpa was a cabinet maker. Love your kitchen. I need that island! Getting pots and pans out of the low cabinets is miserable. Drawers would be wonderful. Thanks for the inspiration.
Love that you kept the metal drawer insert for the potatoes....what a great time piece. It reminds me of when I was little and seeing one at my grandparents house in Texas. 🥰
Good Morning Hilary 💃 Thank you for the lovely " Heart of The Home Tour " I just love the richness of your countertops , just stunning 🍴 Such a sweet moment when you said your son likes to put them on the fridge, he is just the sweetest little boy 💙 Have a blessed day 🙏
I love your sturdy looking kitchen cabinets. I also love the little hideaway for the box of tea. And I always kept toys in the bottom cabinet for my little ones when they were small. And my daughter did the same for her daughter and she would pull out all the things and sit in the cabinet and play for hours. It was her "tent". Oh there are so many things I could comment on that I like, but I will stop here. Have a good day and bring us more videos like this one. 💙
Everything is in a handy location... makes for speedy cooking when you're not having to look all over for the items that you want,,!!!! Nice arrangements.... TFS some helpful tips 👍❤️🥰
Oh, my word, Hilary! I use the bottom stove drawer for small pots, but I think I will put my baking pans in there instead! What a great idea! I am going to try it! I love your kitchen!
I have those blue and white Currier and Ives dishes, too! They were my husband's grandparents' everyday set, and I have been able to find more at Goodwill and such.
You have such a beautiful kitchen with so much character! Interesting seeing how different people organise their kitchens. For instance it's unusual for wall cabinets in the UK to be deep enough to hold dinner plates, so we have no choice but to store them in the floor cabinets 😊
When our children were small we stored our dinnerware in lower cabinets. It was the kids’ jobs to set the table and help empty the dishwasher; this made it easy for them to do by themselves.
You gave me an idea about spice storage. Ever since we moved in 22 years ago, when we had little kids, we have used that awkward cabinet above the stove/built-in microwave to store over-the-counter medication, like ibuprofen, acetaminophen, cold meds, etc., that we wanted to keep away from the kids. But the youngest "kid" is now 21, so there's no need for that. Tonight I will whisk those OTC meds off to the bathroom and move my spices that are crowding the countertop up there and maybe my multitude of vitamin bottles since I remove a 2 weeks' supply and put them into pill containers. Thanks for the inspiration, Hilary.
Love your Kitchen Hillary and very well organised. The little pan that sits under the larger pan that you don't want scratched, you could fold 2 pieces of paper towel or place an old pot holder under the pan so as not to scratch the pan. Well done.
What a nice kitchen! The little door (with the tea behind it) how sweet! Although I have a 50´s home my kitchen is brand new - there was a very ugly and dirty kitchen from the 80´s in the house when I bought it. So unfortunately no sweet kitchen from the 50´s for me. Love ♥
You always inspire me to declutter...especially my kitchen! I love unique serving pieces, and host large family get togethers quite often. After 31 years of marriage, I’ve gathered too many pieces. Gonna take your advice and try to keep only what I love and know I’m gonna use!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I have so many kitchen things that don't get used. Just myself here now. I think it's time to donate the extra dessert dishes, glasses, barely used containers, etc. I think this will be my project for 2021. I like your use of containers to keep things organized . Great suggestions. 👏🤗👍
Dear Hilary! I've enjoyed this video so much! Very well done! Thanks for the inspiration! Please, make videos like this one for different areas of the house as well!
Just seeing the title of your video made me reorganize the right side if my refrigerator cabinets lol so THANK YOU! I am almost 34 weeks pregnant with #4 and definitely need to tackle my kitchen space as it is the most used place of my house!
Thank you for the tour! Your kitchen is beautiful. I'll admit that my kitchen is my least favorite room in our house. When my kids were little and I was the only one working in it, it was easier to keep organized. Now it seems someone is always cooking, eating or complaining about the mess and yet doing little about fixing it! Our house is open plan so when you enter any door the kitchen is the first room you see, so I feel it has to be decorated somewhat which only makes it harder to clean. If I had my way the first thing I would do is build a wall and a door to create a working, functional kitchen...nomore open floor plan! Lol
My house is old, and not open-plan, and I’m so glad it’s not! When the kids were little I really preferred NOT listening to their cartoons while I cooked. Now that their teenagers I’m glad I don’t have to look or listen to the tv right near the kitchen. Its better to NOT mix lounging / tv watching with the kitchen activities, in my opinion.
People like open floor plans so they can watch their kids or be around company, but 1) kids aren't little for long and 2) I don't want people watching me cooking or preparing meals. My kitchen is tiny and I use it every day. I wish it were bigger but not open.
Love these videos! I bought some ceramic winter plates after you shared the snowman ones you got and I LOVE them. I don’t like using plastic but my kids are still little and I don’t want a lot of broken plates either. I’m now on the hunt for some other ceramic plates to use the rest of the year because I’m loving them so much for the kids.
Love love love, to the lovely kitchen❤️. I am so satisfied to see what you actually keep in that small cabinet. I used to always guess, maybe you keep gas lighter, match-box, candles😂😂😂. Today, i got to see - its Tea😎. The kitchen looks lovely.
If only I had even 1/2 of your cupboard space...I used to do the cake pan/marble lazy Susan but I found an old kerplunk game in my grown kids storage boxes a couple years ago and brought it out for my grandkids to play. It was lacking the marbles so I took them from the lazy Susan setup. I have a really small house but enjoy seeing your organization videos as it gives me ideas or at least encouragement to weed out the clutter.
Charming, practical kitchen! One thought: your formal plates in the lower cabinet, right next to the dutch oven -- I would totally splinter the edges of those with one clumsy move of putting that heavy dutch oven away. What about putting those plates up on the top shelf of your regular dishes cabinet where you have the round basket? Then the basket could move to where the plates are. Easier to access, too. I'm really enjoying your channel.
You’ve made very good use of your space! I have some dead space that I keep empty baskets in like you; however, your napkin storage made me think I could store extra rolls of paper towels , or something of that sort, in them. We also have two sets of dishes, we love and use them both daily. I think it’s important to purge all the frivolous (to each personally) so we have room for those things we love. Tanks for sharing! Looking forward to the month since I have a couple of trouble closets for which I hope to find solutions.
This might sound odd but your kitchen makes me happy 😊. I find it so peaceful to see such an organized and functional space, particularly the kitchen where most of us spend a great deal of time. A big part of that is keeping only what we truly use and not wasting time and mental energy weeding through unnecessary clutter. Thanks for the inspiration. P.S. May I ask what model of Nespresso you have? Was considering purchasing one but the cost of the pods is holding me back. We have a Keurig that we use a reusable pod that we add our own coffee to as a way of saving money on the individual pods and also to avoid disposing of excess plastic as I don’t think they’re recyclable??? Would love to know what you do as far as the Nespresso pods go. Have a lovely day 😊.
Happen to be in the market for some new dinner plates to replace several 15-year-old plates that have seen better days. The currier and ives dishes look beautiful. Never heard of them before today. Given that they are vintage, are these dishwasher/microwave safe?
What is hanging on the side of your fridge? It looks like a string with items hanging from it. Also, I might have missed this in an earlier video, what is the picture hanging between the windows above the sink? I'm so glad the question of "what's in the tiny square cabinet?" has been answered!!! I thought it was maybe for a rolling pin! Love your organization methods!
They’re called Baltic birch, found at Lowe’s in stock, and we had a local carpenter cut them down and stain them Minwax Jacobean and they’re sealed with polyurethane 💛
We have the same stove and were told not to use cast iron on it but hello we are Mexican so we have a comal which is cast iron to make tortillas on it always stays on it 😁

As always love the video. Just a little tip I use paper plates between my skillets so they don't get scratched.
Love that idea. I always stack my pans and am always worried about scratching them. Thank you!
I have used coffee filters between mine as well as paper plates.
@@jinxie228 thank you!!!
I put a napkin between mine. 😊

Your kitchen is adorable! I love the finishes you chose for your update. Especially the dark stain on the butcher block.
Everything about you is calming...even your kitchen! Love it all😍

Love your kitchen. Real wood cabinets are hard to come by in homes now. Love the bread box drawer and tiny drawer. 😍
Everything is in a handy location... makes for speedy cooking when you're not having to look all over for the items that you want,,!!!! Nice arrangements.... TFS some helpful tips 👍❤️🥰
So impressive!!! I love how you keep everything so neat and tidy!! And with three littles! Have a wonderful day!♥️♥️♥️
Oh, my word, Hilary! I use the bottom stove drawer for small pots, but I think I will put my baking pans in there instead! What a great idea! I am going to try it! I love your kitchen!
🤗 I like the “don’t use it, lose it” idea. Thank you Hilary!
I have those blue and white Currier and Ives dishes, too! They were my husband's grandparents' everyday set, and I have been able to find more at Goodwill and such.
A beautiful kitchen that is very organized, thanks for sharing it!
Love the organization you’ve got going on in the kitchen! You have totally inspired me to declutter!!
I love your kitchen and your style of organization!!! Thank you for this video....it's an inspiration!!

Love the charm of your kitchen and you've inspired me to go through our kitchen cabinets!

Great tips Hilary ...it feels so good to be organized ... I’m always decluttering what I don’t use or need... 👍💛

Hi Hilary, it was so nice to see the results of your decluttering. It’s very inspirational.

Yvonne - Same here and that’s exactly what I did. I couldn’t believe how much I was able to donate. I loved paring down to the things I actually use.
I’ve been wanting to say this for a while. LOVE your new hair cut/style! Which I realize isn’t super new by this point.
You have that organization down to a science. Love that cabinet for your teas!
Dear Hilary! I've enjoyed this video so much! Very well done! Thanks for the inspiration! Please, make videos like this one for different areas of the house as well!
I think that red splatter enamel baking pan is the workhorse of your kitchen!
All so organized and pretty Hilary....you've done a lovely job
I absolutely love your kitchen & have always. I love the fact you only have what you use.
Greetings from South Africa

Kelly, I so agree with you! So many look for open floor plans . To me if its too open you can see the other rooms so they have to be neat constantly!!

Great job! Your kitchen is functional and oh so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Love the counter tops so pretty and your so organized
Hillary love how you have your kitchen organized.
Aw my grandparents had one of those bread drawers- I took it after their house sold and it is in my garage, I need to do something with it!

It’s one of my kids necklaces, and the pic on the window is just a thrifted frame I thought was lovely, it’s sort of an engraving actually
Hillary, thank you for answering!
I wish I could pare down items but I always worry that I will need or use them. Like the electric knife, I use it twice a year at holidays.
Your kitchen is so full of character! I love the white fruit bowl. Is the kitchen sink original to the house?
Oh, and I keep my cast iron skillets either on the stove top or in the oven if I’m bothered by the clutter.
Thank you. No it’s not original, we found it at Home Depot.
Love it!
Can you tell us more about your beautiful countertops please? That bread drawer brought me back to the 60s at my best friend's house...sweet memories!
They’re called Baltic birch, found at Lowe’s in stock, and we had a local carpenter cut them down and stain them Minwax Jacobean and they’re sealed with polyurethane 💛
@@OldWorldHome , thank you for sharing this information!
Very organized and pretty minimal I am just decluttering my kitchen.
Love you girl ❤
Lovely as always!!!
HEY HILARY..NICE...SHARED TO THE BURGH!
I now keep my onions in the refrigerator....cold onions don’t make your eyes water!
If you buy the Sweet Onions, ie. Vidalia, they don’t make your eyes water at all.
I didn’t know this trick
I wonder what the little tea cupboard was originally for? Love your kitchen.
That was designed for matches.
Love your kitchen and how you organize everything. What kind of countertop do you have?
Thank you. They’re called Baltic birch from Lowe’s/butcher block 💛
You should keep you yeast in a little tray in fridge it keeps fresher! Just a lil tip
How did you make the lazy susan? So organised.
Just poured a half a bag of marbles between the two cake pans, that’s it, as they roll the pans can spin 💛
Can you share where you purchased your kitchen hardware? I love those knobs on your cabinets! Love your videos!
Thanks so much, we actually found them at the Habitat Restore 💛
We have the same stove and were told not to use cast iron on it but hello we are Mexican so we have a comal which is cast iron to make tortillas on it always stays on it 😁
???it is lovely to see a kitchen all put together and easily tidied like yours always seems to be. i had a couple of questions. 1. the cups, in the glass jars. are the measuring cups all the same or they are the standard set and you just put 1 cup measuring cup in flour and 1/2 cup in the sugar and so forth? i always wondered how you got the same size measuring cup to put in your jars. i have a couple of sets too....a metal one i like and then a plastic one. 2. also, the little sugar container you let go of on the last video...wasn't that the container that went with your thrifted dishes? or was it another? i would have found it so difficult to get rid of part of a set....and never heard anyone ever say they did that. but that is what i have come to love, respect and expect from you to only keep what you use. in my fuzzy brain i would have found a use for it or just let it sit with it's family of dishes. thanks for sharing your kitchen organization.
Yes the copper set is varying sizes, 1 c in flour, 1/2 c in rice, 1/3 c in sugar, and 1/4 in oats. And yes I did get rid of the sugar container from the set because I have and would never use it and I always had to shuffle it around to access the dishes under it. I paid very little for the pieces I have, it’s not a precious heirloom hand me down, so I decided to keep what I use and take out the one I don’t. Nice organization. I may suggest, at least for a while to do a little stockpiling. I learned that in March when the shelves were empty of so many things. I will not put myself in that situation again. Another shutdown is looming, and people will panic buy. You don't need to get carried away obviously. Just my thoughts. Thank you.
Where did you find your cabinet hardware? It’s beautiful!
Thank you. I actually found them at a habitat restore on a set of cabinets 💛
I love your kitchen 🤗
Can you please tell me where you bought your storage canisters for your flour, sugar, Ect. Thank you!
Walmart 🤍
Admire your organisational skills. Would live to know how you made the diy lazy susan.
You just get 2 cake pans from the Dollar Store and a bag of marbles. Put some marbles in one pan and then set the second pan on top of the marbles.
Very lovely kitchen.
Saw you store your maple syrup in a cupboard. That kind of sryup needs to be refrigerated after opening or it will mold. Don't want you to one day pour moldy syrup on freshly made pancakes.
Appreciate the concern. I’ve kept pure maple syrup out of the fridge as long as I can remember with no issue 🍁
