Before my first heartbreak in college, i was pretty free of my thoughts but after that point just as this song goes, they began to control me rather than the other way around. from then on, it affected me as a student, productively and in my relations with people. I gave too much to the wrong person back then. That was 11 years ago. I'd love to be able to go back to feeling fully in control again uninfluenced by those thoughts, but these days I can only settle for phasing in and out of that sense of control. Im glad for the times I feel that again, life feels weightless, but I despair at the times when I spiral as I lose that control once again. The most I can do until I recover is write my feelings in poems, which can help bring me comfort. That is the cycle now
