Great series , i feel the point the author was trying to make is that relationships and monogamy are difficult to sustain for humans due to physical attraction for others which are usually in our daily lives but true love will triumph in the end if given a chance.

This is so amazing. The editing, the colours, the song choice, are all perfect. I love Romelza so much! I hope their relationship can heal in the end ❤❤ Everyone is saying how Ross should have been more angry about the affair between Hugh and Demelza, but I love how he was so patient and caring towards her... Because he understands how she feels. I don't see how him being angry would have solved anything. I'm glad they finally talked about Demelza's feelings in episode 2; talking to eachother is definitely the way forward for them as a couple 🌹

Maisie Anne Reid 1st of all thank you so so much! ❤ really apreciate it.
And 2nd I totally agree with you, I think the way the things were put this was Ross' best reaction, It would be a bit off if suddenly he got really angry. I loved to see how understanding he was towards Demelza.

Get off knocking Ross, the man had great love for her, ok no angel and a bit impetuous but a real man who did so much for his people, had great dignity and respect for all, and loyalty to his country. A man ahead of his time.

Elizabeth is wicked and selfish… jealous…Delmelza in Season 1 episode 8 Sacrifice her health & self and their child’s Julia life to take care of the Poldark whole family during their sickness for Elizabeth to seduce Ross just because she new he had lingering feelings from the past which he was confused about but afterwards he committed adultery he realized he was really in love with Demelza and just idealized Elizabeth.. his true love is Demelza and just admired Elizabeth and once he obtained her he discovered who he really wanted and couldn’t bare to lose and that is Demelza, an imperfect but deep, everlasting, pure and true love…
I love Ross saying in front of Elizabeth that Demelza is the love of his life and Demelza on her sick bed waking up saying did you come to take you and Ross responding no my love she can never take me…
Later in Season 2:5- 9 Elizabeth play games to get Ross attention thinking it will make him chose her over Demelza but all she gets is a one night stand because Ross acts in a moment of weakness and anger angst George marrying Elizabeth but never thinking about the consequences but afterwards realizing that Elizabeth was just an affection from the past
Hugh was just someone to fulfill a temporary void because Ross had deeply hurt Demelza and caused a temporary gap in their marriage… trust had to be rebuilt and their love tested
    Enduring love that persevered

Yes Elizabeth is a selfish miss goody two shoe who suffered from entitlement - all based on her looks. I was not all that overly impressed with that character at all and felt Ross was blinded by her beauty. But remember in those times and days women did not have much choice. It was a very male chauvinistic world back then and education or thinking for women was so not encouraged. The almost modern relationship (in today's terms) that Ross and Demelza had (and Ross probably would have wanted to have had that with Elizabeth as well though I am not sure how much she would have wanted that as it meant she had to motivate herself to work) was very rare back then. Demelza was a fighter by nature...where Elizabeth just took the way of least resistance and kept relying on her looks to get her through or get her what she wanted. Don't forget she DID make sacrifices by marrying George (so she could live that life of comfort and ease - as Ross worded it) and so she could be all decked out in nice clothes and jewelries so she could be admired some more (also as Ross already recognized). Demelza would never have been that type of person. What Demelza would have done with the excess money if she had any, is to help the poor and disadvantaged. Elizabeth would never have had that notion.
Ok, so back to Elizabeth and her entitlement and sacrifices. She expected the men in her life to make her decisions for her and not have to worry about anything but card games, tea sipping and shopping ribbons. Regarding her sacrifices, she married George because she was bored and pi$$ poor. Was she excited to have to submit to George physically where she would have rather had all that with Ross because he was really the object of her love and attraction? No, thus her sacrifice.
All in all, I wasn't really upset with her character dying. Surprised yes. I do have to say I felt vindicated for Demelza when she had her dalliance with Armitage and Ross DID deserve the heartache she cause him with that. And if one really compares how Elizabeth reacted when Frances stepped out on their marriage vs Demelza's reaction when Ross stepped out. Elizabeth just cow-towed vs Demelza packed her bags and was ready to leave Ross behind. That takes a lot of umph. Especially back then. The additional problem back then was also the stigma that attached itself to women who were divorced (or even widowed) or worse yet not married by a certain age (i.e. Verity). And then there was this "plain looking" appearance that did not get much favor around town. Which of course reinforced Elizabeth giving painstaken care to keep her looks as attractive as she possibly could.
She really was not a fighter. Demelza was.
Elizabeth would also never have come up with the idea to go to Falmouth to borrow the desired $2000.00 to keep Pasco Harris bank at float.
Anyway, I am now done with my dissertation on this subject matter....and thanks for reading. 🙂

You're editing skills are awesome! I loved your video of these two with Hate & Love by Jack Savoretti! I think you did a great job with this one! But I hope you make a video that shows how much they love each other I get the point of this with this song but they really do love each other despite all the cuts against them both. I've been enjoying their love growing strong again in season 4 now!

Oh i love when people give me that feedback so I know where to go next, i will definitely do one of them that shows just how much they love each other inspite of every difficulty, I already started watching the season 4 and aaarr my heart *-*! I just wanted to play around with this song, exactly to show the uglier part of their relationship.
      Thank you so much xoxo

He is kind and hardworking, and both a servant and Master at the same time, like Jesus, but at the same time Poldark falls prey to lust when he's empty or feeling inadequate or lost.
He speaks of God sometimes, and he despises the gossip and snobbery of others, but instead of proving them wrong he proves their rumors true by disobeying God and going around with women he's not married to. He's someone you admire and relate to,, yet at the same time, what kind of man sleeps with prostitutes and then his maidservant before marrying her? Someone who lacks control. Demelza said ''Let it be true'', the terrible rumors nasty people are spreading. But it's encouraging pride in your sins and fallen nature, that is not love, love is not a feeling or excitement, it is an action, it is to will the good of another. And if you aren't looking after each other's souls then you aren't truly loving.
He could've proved those fake Christians wrong. Just because nasty people claim they're Christians but then gossip and treat people bad doesn't mean they're true Christians, it means those people aren't following God's true laws. By rebelling against God and falling to lust you're not fighting the evil of nasty people, you're fighting goodness and purity itself.

It was a great series especially the 1 st 4 seasons with super sets and acting , season 5 disappointed somewhat and lost track of the previous main characters and Cornwall to concentrate on political issues of the day, it was enough just to mention them but concentrate on the mine dealings and people around Cornwall , we all wanted Ross to end up rich and turning the tables on George and that detestable uncle of his. The series also showed the sanctimonious nature of the aristocracy and their attitudes towards the less fortunate " vulgars" whom they cared little about but only as pawns for their wars. Yeah, loved the series overall. Saw the original too as a kid but this was much better.
