    I have watched most of your videos, to this point I have refrained from comment. You have improved to a letter grade A in this episode. Here is my reason. First, your history lessons were excellent, second your points of interest explanations were excellent and third, your explanation of boat function and sailing were excellent. You did a very good job of editing and your commentary was very good. As a sailing video effecianado 😆 I like what I saw. If you keep this quality up your channel will grow. Good job.

    @rabukan5842 4 года назад +1

    Well shot, and a really nice feel of a beautiful sail. Your narration was not awkward at all. I found it informative and quite smooth. Best to have a script as you did. This might just be me, but I prefer to hear the live sound of waves moving against the boat and the natural sound of wind over back to back vocalized songs. Instrumental music is fine if the wind levels are too high, but too many of these channels try to turn sailing into music videos. Enough said, you are doing great. Your editing and narration are very effective, and the overlay of the instruments showing performance is excellent. And of course, this boat is a real beauty. Well done!

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  4 года назад

      Thank you for watching and following our channel. Yes, you can just drop the main and it falls pretty much in place with a nice flake. When it only the two of us that is how we douse the main sail

  • @dougmarder
    @dougmarder 4 года назад +4

    As you get more proficient, it would be great if you walked us through all your sail changes and reefing. Do you need to climb up for the second reef on the main? Overlaying the B&G display is great! I wish more sailing channels did that while underway. The best part of following sailing channels as they are just starting is learning as they (you) are learning, so do not think anything you do is not worth filming and sharing. Just remember that this is video, not a podcast; you want to show us, not tell us what's going on, and music is to set or enhance the mood, not fill a void (I know, everyone wants to direct :) ). Hope Fabio is feeling better. Looking forward to the next one!

    The music was great, you did a nice job narrating and your editing skills are improving. I may have shortened the first section of leaving port a little and I would invest in mics for you and Fabio. I LOVE the on-screen boat information as you were sailing -That was super cool. Seeing how well this vessel sails with light winds is very impressive and I do want to see what it is like in heavy seas. 18:50 in the video is priceless-what a beautiful view. Music volume in that section varied in volume a bunch in prep for your narration, but easy fix. Getting Seawind rep help on this sail was awesome. Why such a time getting the sail into the bag? New sail issue?

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  4 года назад

      Hi Thomas, thank you for your comments. I agree, we could have condensed the part leaving Port Everglades. And you are correct, we are exploring options for personal mics!
      The seas have been pretty moderate and We are sure that soon enough we will have an opportunity to test Wandelust in heavy weather 😬😬.
      We talked about flaking the sail slowly versus dropping quickly in the bag. As you say the sail has not shaped yet to fall in nicely, but we typically just drop it when we sail short handed.

    Did you look at flybridge cats? what are the advantages and disadvantages vs single deck? I like the extra inside space of a flybridge, but I am curious to know what the disadvantages are.

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  4 года назад +1

      Hi Lex, we did not consider flybridge cats, they look majestic and I am sure they provide great visibility. They are probably fun and comfortable for a big crew, but when you are short handed like us the helm I far from the water and it may be a little harder to dock and pass lines. There is also a bit more windage to deal with. Another considerations is a reduction on mainsail sq ft at the foot.
      All said they are certainly awesome boats but did not check the boxes for us, furthermore I am accident prone and would probably take a spill running down the stairs on a wet and windy passage

    • @Lexgoplayoutside
      @Lexgoplayoutside 4 года назад

    Hi Guys - Enjoyed the video. Keep the performance specs coming! Did you go with the standard sail plan or did you opt for the Cruising Sails upgrade?

      We’re so glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!! We went with the standard sail plan. We have a screecher and we just ordered an asymmetrical spinnaker.

    That was so nice to watch! Just hit the spot this evening. Thanks so much! May I ask a dumb question? What camera are you using? It pans so we'll and seems great in low light... Again, beautiful video. Thanks! Franny

      Thanks you! We’re so glad you enjoyed the video Franny! We’re using the Sony A7iii with Zhiyun Weebill gimbal when the footage is really smooth. 😊 I was impressed with the way it captured the moon. Not a dumb question at all!

    Found you guys while searching for Seawind. Very glad we did.. May we ask how did you find the Dragonfly 35 ? Was the accomodation too limiting v the sheer speed?

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  4 года назад +1

      Awesome! Thanks for watching! The Dragonfly was a great, fast boat but the accommodations were small, like camping. Once we decided we wanted to live aboard we sold it and started looking for something bigger.

    I was curious as to your sailing experience. I am experienced at sea with Diesel engines but have limited sailing experience and have never sailed a performance cat. Is the 1600 complex to manage with just the 2 of you?

    • @HarborsUnknown
      @HarborsUnknown  4 года назад +1

      Thank you Mick, our experience in this Catamaran is still evolving and as long as you sail conservatively we have found that is well designed for shorthand sailing with all main control lines coming to the cockpit.
      You have daggerboard that need an extra level of attention and you always must be aware of your draft and retract as needed.
      In general with catamarans if you don’t get caught sailing downwind with a lot of canvas in your mainsail you have the ability to control the boat. Thank you for following our channel.

    Enjoy the videos. Some suggestions to improve:
    Your voice-overs are somewhat muted. Maybe subdued.
    Sometimes you tend to stay on a scene for too long, shorter edits what keep the story going.
    Can't wait to see the channel grow.
