After owning several Subarus I know nothing of these 70k issues you speak of. They are known for having to replace the timing belt at 105k miles, but this is routine maintenance. I won't say Subaru has the best AWD system, but it's probably the best for the money and is probably "one of the best".
I Was thinking of getting this vehicle but after doing some research of owners of the XV on a Forum there are owners having problems with EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.Hell my 2003 Element has over 200,000 miles on it and it doesn't burn a drop of oil.I was going to trade it for the XV because of better gas milage.
No, it's not recommended to change the timing belt every 80k. It's a 105k mile service with Subaru. Talk to any Subaru tech. Some belts are still fine at 105k in Subarus, but it's recommended at that mileage. "My friend said" isn't a good enough resource.
It just drives me nuts that they don't paint under the hood! Really, I bet it saved them 5 cents! And I'm sure they cut a bunch of other corners as well!!
Saying the Boxer motor is dated is like saying the V8 is dated and needs updating. You think that Subaru is using the same engine they were using on "earlier models"? Subaru updates this engine all the time and I've know many Subaru engines that go will over 400k miles. Also... Boxer and Boxster are two entirely different terms. Both Porsche and Subaru have "boxer" engines.
I pride myself on taking an open view on all cars regardless of what I own. One cannot dismiss the fact that Subaru and Honda have both been at the top of Consumer Reports' list for top vehicles for decades. In fact, Subaru has surpassed Honda in recent years. They must be confused.
Slightly entertaining, but not much of a car review. I recently bought an XV Crosstrek and love it so far. Great gas mileage. The ride is the standard Subaru ride. And on paper, it may be down on horsepower, but no one should be buying this car for racing and in daily driving, you don't notice it. Can't speak for the oil consumption, because I haven't had mine long enough. In the end, it's another great Subaru. If you're a fan of Subaru, you'll probably love this car.
Ugh, I'm really interested in this car and watching all the reviews I can, but this ditsy blond knows nothing about cars. Can't they find an attractive, yet somewhat knowledgeable person who's good on-camera too?
meh..the airhead was in such a hurry to glaze over the engine compartment and in such a hurry to run her yap I'm lost at where this was actually a review of the car. It's fine to exhibit some personality but more and more of these auto reviews are insisting on getting glamor-wannabe-fluffed up self-centric babes to present and they are clearly more about themselves than the products they are supposed to be highlighting..I almost made the mistake of watching this to the end..
The pin shown in the lower part of the back door is to lock the cross bars to the chassis.
I saw the hot blonde, so right away I went to the dealer and picked up a Crosstrek.

What's the deal with the ford tempo @ 2:50

"its not unusual, you just don't see it on a lot of cars." In other words... it's unusual.
