also yes, vernon is mixed, his mom is from the U.S. and his dad is korean. and tho it's more common now, at the time of their debut there weren't many bi-*RACIAL* (i say this bc there have been and are various idols who are half korean but still 100% genetically asian for lack of better term) idols, and carats really didn't like the narrative being pushed on him as "the white boy" of seventeen (rightfully so), and being singled out for his "foreignness" when
1) there are 4 foreign members of svt, yet at the time it was kind of obv a lot of ppl, whether inside or outside the fandom, seemed to fixate on vernon in particular and... well i think we all know why :// whether it be bc of fetishization or prejudice driven sentiment. esp since joshua is very much american and yet for a time it seemed like ppl were pawning the "designated american member" role to vernon more so which. really makes u go hmmmm
2) vernon had been bullied and discriminated against throughout his childhood for being biracial, the bullying and ostracization he experienced was one of the factors that contributed to him dropping out of middle school and being homeschooled.
3) as shown in the guide, as he's lived in korea his entire life, vernon has stated on multiple occasions that he feels culturally more korean than american and that should be respected
^to add emphasis-- though not super important in the grand scheme of things-- vernon isn't even his english name, he doesn't HAVE one. his documented/real name is hansol, vernon is his mother's maiden name.
with that being said, i dont think vernon's ethnicity is something to walk on eggshells about or something to be afraid of talking about either. just make sure to be respectful (which u have been /gen) and don't treat him like svt's token white boy lol. thankfully a lot of this type of energy and attention has died down significantly throughout svt's career but yeee just some insight as to why a lot of these guides like to emphasize vernon's korean-ness bc it's been invalidated a lot in the past when it shouldn't be. sorry for the essay fhjdjdjd being half korean myself this is smth i've thought about a lot and am passionate about. anyways, welcome to the fandom! i've been enjoying watching ur journey into the diamond life hehe

Vernon is ethnically half Korean, his mother is American (French/German ancestry I believe). It's because he "looks foreign" that his background gets discussed a lot and is treated more like a foreigner than Joshua (Who's born and raised in America) even though he's been in Korea most of his life at this point. He still speaks english really well because his family speaks it at home but I do believe Joshua is more fluent than him because he's had moments where he'd forget english words and there's several cute instances where Joshua would speak to him in english but he'd reply in Korean.
At 48:23 Vernon asks them to write in black and not red because he was wearing red sunglasses and can't see the red writing.
Also, you may not want to admit it, but Vernon is definitely on your bias list in your heart. Every time he appears on screen, you almost always make a comment on him. It's really cute actually :)

Most carat actually suggest to start watching GOING SEVENTEEN 2019-2021 cuz 2017-2018 is a different concept of their going seventeen. But for me its hard to find a proper english sub in GOING SEVENTEEN 2019 so i suggest on starting 2020
Austin, you have to know that ALL THE MEMBERS love DINO so so so much. They adore him a lot and always baby him. On his birthday, the members got him a flower. It was a 12 yellow flowers with 1 orange flower in the middle, the members said that you are the center in the seventeen because you are the maknae and we love you so much. Not to mention that in seventeen he is the only 99liner and the others are 95line to 98liners. So.. in their eyes Dino will always be a maknae, even scoups said that even Im 50 years old, you will always be my maknae.
I'm so grateful that this guide showed Dino's laugh, I really wanted you to know that, his laugh always makes me smile

original MVs first pls! The Rolling Stone performance includes Pinwheel (vocal unit), Trauma (hip hop) and Lilili yabbay (performance). There are some changes for the acoustic that need to be appreciated - plus more Seventeen, never a bad thing lol

Rolling stone is probably their latest, hottest video, in my opinion, but if u want to watch that u need to listen to the songs that they performed on that stage... They're performing pinwheel, trauma, and lilili yabbay... And yes they're performing in a unit
for the live stages I feel like their 2021 Golden Disc Awards performance is really underrated I feel like you'd love it

Also, I don't think I've mention this but, the reason why you feel that they choreos are "story-teller" it's because that's the main point and also is the reason why they are known as "The theatrical kids of kpop", they always tried to convert they lyrics into moving lines (Hoshi's words not mine), that's why they performances are so fun to watch, it's not only cool dance movements, every detail have the purpose to deliver a message 💜

Carat is a peaceful fandom all the time, I think. They're so lucky to have 13 talented idols. I love 17 so much too but I just can't completely stand for them.

The Rolling Stone video is safe to react to, since I see so many reactors watching it and they didn't have any problems with copyright. However, I suggest you react to their unit MVs before watching that because the songs they performed there are all unit songs (Pinwheel by Vocal Unit, Trauma by Hiphop Unit, and Lilili Yabbay by Performance Unit).
Do NOT skip the haunted house video. There is so much ridiculous energy, betrayal, and chaos.
Also I feel like recent guides totally skip on some of Minghao’s solo dance videos and the video he did with Jun called My I. The choreography on My I is just stunning.

You should definitely react to their PRETTY U ( live stage and performance/choreography video) +Seungkwan's iconic highnote in pretty u is EVERYTHING!
i thinking doing it like this, watching the long guide first and then watching this is good, because the longer guide is more "calm" since it's longer, and provides a lot of good facts and is more of a serious vibe, where as this is more chaotic and focuses also a lot on the funny stuff. If you only watch this guide though i feel like you would miss a lot of things because they leave a lot out.
One thing I would add to these guides is that they never mention mingyu and vernon being vocalists also.

Hoping to see more of your reactions to them!♡ btw svt(seventeen) is one of my ult groups along with tbz(the boyz)🥰 and my biases in svt are boosoongyu(BOO seungkwan, kwon SOONyoung or Hoshi and kim minGYU) yessss i have one bias in each unit or maybe 2-3 depends on me lol😂 but i love them all! and I always wonder how some carats are able to just have a bias like it's so difficult to have only 1 bias in svt that had so many members with so much talent🤧
I highly recommend you to start watching going seventeen to be honest it’s the only idol group show I’ve enjoyed watching so far even non fans look forward to every episode, it’s so entertaining to watch cause of the members personalities and the editing is so funny plus the content ideas ARE SO GOOD

Seventeen's China line are very close friends to NCT China line 💚
Besides official sub-units，you can also get some random or specific team
unit in their B sides ，such as ‘still lonely’, ‘flower’,change up’,’A-teen’,’light
A flame’ … Different unit brings totally brand new feeling ，this is why carats never feel bored to stan seventeen.
Hopefully you can react to the Rolling Stone performance by all three units, you will never look at the performance unit in the same way again. It’s truly amazing, they’re like angels singing😇

I love these reactions so much!! I literally check if you've posted anything the minute I wake up. You are also doing an amazing job remembering names and faces. Seventeen is not an easy group to memorize and people often get some members mixed up cuz they 'look alike' (like Joshua/Jun, Wonwoo/Mingyu, Wonwoo/DK) so don't feel bad about getting confused.
To get to know them better, there are member guides (a confusing guide to...) but Emmalilyn that are really good and help alot as well as a series by mwaujhk with the acronym SVT, with each letter having its own video.
I recommend both of these I'd you're looking for something funny that would also help you learn more about them and their personalities
If you're looking for something more on the Series side, they did a series called Hit The Road that followed their last world tour and each episode focuses on a different member.
I think it's really time for guides to make a special corner for BSS, coz all the reactors I've seen always gets confused when they see Gag Trio and no one ever connects the dots that BSS is Gag Trio, or what Gag Trio means (no one's hip anymore and uses the word 'Gag' to pertain to the funniest members), just a suggestions in general by the way, and I don't know why I'm commenting this on Sir Austin's SVT Guide reaction lmao 😂

no because i really do relate to the whole choreo thing. Before seventeen, i wouldn't even bother looking at the choreo, i'd just be like "oh thats cool", just dance to it, or straight up not even pay attention. it was something that i was never invested into watching, I'd rather just hear them sing, but with seventeen, i think i really saw the beauty in singing and dancing at once. where i would've rather had mvs with storylines and beauty shots instead of dancing, now i look forward to the dancing part of the mv. like its crazy, bc i've been into kpop for so long, but the dancing part was never really my favorite until i saw seventeen and how much they like dancing
not to mention how they're all good dancers coupled with the fact they're all good singers, i think thats why i've been able to enjoy dancing more

Woozi is real BOSS, and POWER. He was a very scary leader with Hoshi when he was a trainee.
Vernon, who has difficulty studying due to his tight trainee life, decided to drop out after consulting with his parents and focused on his trainee life by homeschooling at home. Vernon once mentioned it in an interview. I'm telling you because there's a comment about Vernon's dropping out. I enjoyed your reaction and I look forward to your future reaction!!
