Great clip Paul, I had a black widow awning on our patrol (similar to ARB) Almost never used it coz of pain in the arse set up. As you may have seen I have the second wing awning on the 200 and use it all the time. That said as you pointed out they have different pro and cons, I like the old school for space underneath for swags and such, but love the other one for ease and speed of set up. Cheers Steve
I had an ArB awing for a couple of years. It was a pain to put up and down. I purchased a Darche 180 Gen 1 about 3 years ago and have never looked back. It was one of the best things I’ve done to my vehicle. It gets used nearly every time we go out. The awning walls can be a bit fiddly, but once it’s done it gives great shelter.
Great video guys, how have you found awnings when driving on tight scrubby tracks? Simple is best and they both have there pro's n cons. Loving the content cheers. Manse
Thank you for your kind words. Haven’t had any issues in tight tracks and we’ve been on a few. The bags are good quality and don’t show any signs of wear.
It is small, but I've learnt to work within it now so it's not much of a drama for me - but i was looking at it on the weekend and an extra 300 - 400mm would make a huge difference... but if u kick the 2 central poles out towards the guy ropes (a neat trick I've learnt, they're on a pivot) then the floor area itself is far more useable 👍

Yeah as we get older I think ease and speed maybe the winner 😬
Cheers mate 👍

Yeah you definitely need three arms if there is a bit of wind around 😂

awnings are a brilliant idea Paul , as you said don't put them up if its windy
So are ARB, Rhino Rack, Darche etc all out of the same Chinese company? So which is the best quality 2.5 x 2.5??
Given one costs 3 times the amount of the other the video wasn’t about quality. It was about which one suits your needs better.
So, 4 months on, do you still think the 180 is too small of an area? (in the market atm)
