- It’s feeling quite the struggle ! It’s been a long winter …. I think this is maybe a bit of a boring update but I will let you decide - it’s a weekly catch up with what’s been going on , plus my thoughts and feelings in the countdown to lambing! The weather has been mostly grim and disappointing as the long range forecast had promised us that high pressure was coming but we ended up with heavy rain and the campsite bank holiday Friday was absolutely a washout!
I am a dog owner myself Joanna but would never have them off lead across agricultural land and keep clear when lambing is on the go. The old farmers way with a shotgun was the way to go and local Police would have quite rightly supported the farmer. Wishing you a nice Easter and hopefully better times ahead. x
Thank you for being responsible with your dog! Lots of people simply don’t care about anything other than their dogs happiness and having a nice walk which means not carrying poo bags apparently
@@DaleFarm A dog is a dog is a wolf people should remember how they can go back to their roots with a flock of of sheep sending their prey drive into overdrive. AND also use their poo bags their droppings can cause all kinds of diseases to sheep.
I can guarantee you your dad is looking down on you and immensely proud of you. My mam passed away in 2021. She was my best friend. I miss her every single day x
Thank you for your lovely message and understanding xx
6:11 nothing is more soothing than listening to the robin singing while watching a glorious sunrise.
I agree, simple pleasures
my mom passed when i was 15 and im 60 now and i still miss her but the pain of loosing her has gone lower during time please take some time for yourself to mentally relax go for a swim or hike you need it hugsssss
Thank you for sharing with me Tammy. Xxx
You are doing a great job Joanna and your Dad would be proud of what you are doing on the farm
Thank you for th lovely comment
When I saw the rainbow at the beginning of the video, I thought of your Dad. Missing Loved Ones takes the breath from me at times, especially when I go through hard times. Wishing you a bright Springtime
Thank you yes you know what I mean about how grief feels. So impossible to understand unless you have experienced a significant loss xxxx
Brilliant video, got a bit of everything with the weather, delighted the easter bunny didn't forget you,the sun always shines thorough.
Thank you! Can’t wait for some decent weather feels like Iv been cold and wet forever !
@@DaleFarm it's the very same here, but we keep lookin forward all the time.

Thanks Alan, you to get better eventually doesn’t it!! 😥 I am so fed up of being cold and wet
Another great video Joanna hope the weather picks up for you Joanna happy Easter 🐣👍👍👍
Thank you sandy and hope you had a good Easter xx
Keep your chin ,doing a fantastic job your many followers are proud of you and what you’re doing.
Thank you so much xx
Hi Jo
Happy Easter 🐣
Even though the weather is pants everywhere
You get a bit of sunshine then the rain starts
It’s horrible.
You will forever miss your dad like I do mine.
That is normal my love
Anyway happy lambing
Fingers crossed we have better weather soon
Take care
Love Kim x x
Hi Kim ! Happy Easter ! It was fairly busy here but nothing compared to the build up getting the campsite ready !! Yeah grief and missing them forever is the price of love
Hey...Joanna...me thinks you [and Nick too] are doing a BANG...UP...JOB in the 'Dad replacement' department...just saying. For all the rain y'all have experienced, your pastures look really green...kinda the color of that 'grass' in Easter baskets. About which, Happy Easter to you and Nick! Best wishes on the beginning of lambing season! Be well - many blessings! Cheers...
Thank you Ross, I keep hoping and praying we will have the chance for some finer weather but it’s just a few hours and then the rain returns so not improvements - everything is a struggle !
Never mind talking to the camera, you should have been off after than rainbow for it’s pot of gold!! Could buy a boat with it🤣🤣🤦♂🤦♂. You’ll be fine with lambing, yeah you might loose some lambs but that’s part of it 🤷♂😔. Just hope the weather gets better for it 🤞
Excited to see some lambs arrive but it’s gonna be a struggle in the wet. The fields are not good!! Never mind hey! Campsite is gonna be absolutely trashed !!
I think would be better to leave the country over winter and come back in May !!
@@DaleFarm yeah Monty be tough but so are those lambs one they sort them selfs out. Yeah we cancelled 4 caravans this weekend, just way too wet on the grass😫🤦♂️
I'm afraid all we find at the end of the rainbow nowadays is more rain. I lost my dad last year and find doing the jobs he would have done and doing them well like he taught me helps. Hope things get better for you. All the best 🇬🇧.
Thank you, you are right about the rain
Yes it’s nice to be able to honour the memory of our fathers but I do find it hard x
Gorgeous green grass, happy sheep. But soggy boots and heavy rain made the campsite a washout for Easter. You're doing a great job, you really are, chin up.
Thank you robin, we keep plodding on!!! Happy Easter xx
Your stock looks good and you are made of strong stuff. Keep going your dad would be very proud of what you have achieved.
Thank you so much Paul, im proud of the sheep and how they are looking so I hope I have some strong lambs too. Thanks for the encouragement
Keep your chin up and remember you’re stronger than you Realize! Your Dad would be so Proud of you! I understand your struggles I lost my mom in 2001, Dad in 2011 and only Sister in 2013… Everyday they are with me and Pushing me forward! ✌️🇨🇦
Thank you for sharing with me and your words of encouragement xxxx
Sorry about the poor weather but I hope all the sheep are still doing fine. Lovely rainbow & I wish you a Happy Easter
Happy Easter Roberta and let’s hope it gets better
Hi Joanna.
After watching this I have lit a candle for you and put it the bay window before going to bed. Sending kind thoughts, good vibes, and many smiles from down south. ☁️🌤☀️
Thank you, lighting a candle is a very beautiful and symbolic thing so I do appreciate it , ❤️
Thanks for watching and supporting xx
A horrible weather with a lot of rain, but great for the pastures and that green grass... That will help the mothers to have good grass after lambing!! You do great and your effort will be rewarded!! Keep it up and never change!! 💪💚
Thank you Daniel
Wet and cold here in Ireland too Bankholiday tomorrow hopefully it will be fine.
Wet here this morning
Yesterday Sunday was cold and foggy ! Happy Easter
That rainbow was so beautiful. Happy Easter! I miss your dad in your videos.
We all miss his wonderful warm energy xxx
Hey! You're right the joy is gone out of this job, for the moment anyway.. A week of fine weather and the misery will be forgotten.. Nearly finished calving here but no animal out yet, more heavy rain for the rest of this week too.. Best of luck with lambing season. Thinking of ye guys xx...
Hope your calving has been successful, and the cows can go out soon. I think everywhere is horribly wet and yeah it takes the joy away I’m certain of that.
thank god we do not have any foothpaths over here ...... plastic bags inside your boots are good in an emergincy ........good hair dryer will dry out a wellie in under 5 minutes ......we got a few dry days this week ....next week promised a bit wet but might get milder as the week goes on .......been a long winter so far ......but very mild .....you will feel better when you have a few lambs on the ground ......keep feeding them like you have been doing its half the battle... they look to be in good order well done ..!
Hi George just one lamb here at the moment a slow start. Yesterday a dry day but rain by the evening and wet today so the ground never gets chance to improve - slipping and sliding and squelching all over ! It’s yucky
0:10 that's a wren. quite amazing how such a small bird can have such a powerful voice. just like my ex. a tiny frame, but she screamed so loudly it's still ringing in my ears.
Wrens are incredible!!
I hope you had a good time at the Easter break You and Nic and thank you for the good video 🙏🙏👋👋🍻🍻
Thank you Giuseppe happy belated Easter wishes we had a nice weekend , at home but not too bad all things considered!
Hi Joanna,
What a beautiful rainbow,
Well the clocks have gone forward so lighter nights are on the way. The weather should start to warm hopefully next month. But you know what they say about April?
Showers!! lol...🤣👍🏻
.
Hey! I actually quite like it going dark
About 8 then I feel I can get some rest! When it’s permanently light I can’t get a break! Hehe
Happy Easter Joanna, Happy Easter. I am sorry for your struggles with your happiness. The weather has been really awful of late, roll on drier and warmer times. Also I'm sorry your feelings of loss for your dad.He seemed like a very nice man..We miss seeing him in your films and grief takes its toll on us. So many of us care for you and enjoy your company in film and wish you good health and happiness, now and in the future xx
Hi kelvin and belated happy Easter. I’m glad it’s over as it’s extra stress on the campsite - it was a difficult week and the weather continues to batter us! It’s miserable really , which Is sad because it could be so different if the sun would shine a bit more! Anyway we keep on …. X
You stand with the sleet hitting you made me smile because we had the same weather this morning while I was outside, I an a happy man because we got 2.5 inches of rain this week. The first rain since Jan 8 three day blizzard
Glad you got some
Rain Charles , I wish we could get 3 days sun in a row !!!
Happy Easter summer is not far away
Hope so Alan xx
I love your video!!! Thank you for sharing your hope with us. 🙂
Thanks for watching xx
Happy Easter to you and Nick. Ewes are in fantastic shape. I hope the weather gets better for you guys. Good luck lambing!
Thank you! Really hopeful it improves , yesterday it was cold and horrible !! Not lambing conditions at all
Joanna, this is been a tough year, the weather has not been ideal, which I think adds to your grieving. One thing I remember about grieving, is it comes in waves sometimes high sometimes low. But what I do think is interesting is that you really have been thinking about your dad, and what shows itself, a rainbow, I think it is a message from your dad, letting you know he has the ultimate faith and support for you and Nick. ❤
Thank you Keith. I am feeling like I can never escape my grief because there are constant reminders that dad used to be here and now he is not, I am still
Adjusting I guess. Been having more counselling lately and that has been good to talk it all through with some one. Maybe it time it will become a little easier, grief seems to change I think xx
@@DaleFarm only wishing you the very best, working through this grieving process. I’m glad you’re getting some counseling, your dad was an incredible man, you are an incredible woman, and it’s great to see Nick in your life. One day at a time. 🙏🏼
Excellent video again thanks for sharing Happy Easter keep your chin up hopefully the weather conditions improves when they start to lamb
Thank you Terry we live in hope , happy Easter
Hey Joanna, you are so honest to say that you miss your Dad...mine passed away 3 years ago and i am older than you, but still miss him. I miss being able to confide and get honest advice, it feels lonely and a big world to face.. x
Yeah I feel exactly the same it’s so hard. Sorry that you feel it too , it is a tough journey xxx
Grab a shovel! Dig up that pot of gold at the end of that rainbow! Joanna… I think it must be the time of year or something. I lost my Dad 10 years ago and it was hitting me hard too. All of a sudden. Part of the journey through grief I suppose. Blessings be yours. Chin up my Dear. Remember this grief thing is a passage not a place. ✌🏻❤️🇺🇸🙏🏻🇬🇧
Happy Easter to you both & good wishes for the week ahead 👍👍👍
Thank you Michael and happy Easter
it can be very hard when you loose someone who is close I lost my dad when I was 23 almost 40 years now and still miss him and my wife died 4 years ago and that still hurts a lot I do not think we ever get over the loss but get used living with it time is a great healer they say take care you two looking forward to some lambs Rx
Thank you Richard for sharing with me xxxx the experience of grief is very heavy burden that so many carry but also lots around us seem to be blissfully unaware of what we go through xx
Happy Easter.
Happy Easter xx
Thanks for sharing. I want to know how you are, good or bad. My heart goes out to you. Loved that rainbow!
Thank you for watching and the lovely comment I’m flattered you are interested in what we are up to xxx
You are doing a really good job of running the farm and the camp site. Your dad would be really proud of what you are accomplishing. Unfortunately, 4 seasons in 1 one day is a bind. Keep up the good work and keep your chin up. Take care xx
Thank you so much, I’m just waiting for enough daylight here to go and check the ewes for new lambs, it’s pouring with rain again and yesterday I didn’t think we could surely take much more
my advice would be take one day at a time jo.........i've found that thinking too far ahead can get a bit overwhelming especially when it's a busy time coming up as lambing will be. but i think your stronger than you give yourself credit for........running the farm and the campsite takes balls and you and nick are doing a great job.......hang in there chuck were all with you xx
Thank you Gerald , one day at a time is good advice and definitely what I needed to hear , It is a huge undertaking to manage all the aspects of life and work here x
Joanna , I lost my son twelve years🏵️ago . Before that my sister whitch i had no idea to handle . A freind at the time of my sons death .had lost her husbaned . She told you never get over it you just learn to live with them gone .
It takes time , i remember them, then may cry and move on .
Thankyou for the vidio .
Lambing is been hard this year for many . I tell you that to just be prepared .one day at a time . Take care .
Thank you for sharing with me Nancy, life throws us some awful surprises that change our lives forever and yeah it becomes something we have to adapt to, some days are harder than others …. One day at a time is the best advice thank you Xxx
🎵I blame you for the rainbow sky🎵
that i'm feeling sad, when there's tears in your eyes,
I blame you for the rainbow sky,
That i'm feeling joy, cause there's hope nearby,
I blame you for, to feel alive......X.
Xx 👋
Joanna, I can definitely relate to your sentiments about your dad and how people like John are truly irreplaceable. They just are. The years that I worked full-time with my Dad (from the age of 15 to 26) as we took on multiple bank loans to acquire more farmland were the most fulfilling and contented years of my farming career. For me also my Dad was irreplaceable and I still miss him almost 37 years later. It seems so surreal that now at age 63 I'm 4 years older than him. Joanna, as a father and grandfather myself though I can tell you for sure, that your Dad will always be so very proud of his wonderful daughter no matter what...never ever doubt that.
IMHO Joanna you are managing the farm and campsite as capably as anyone anywhere could with the rotten weather conditions you're dealing with. Again never doubt that either.
Definitely not a boring update. I always look forward to seeing how things are going for you. A belated Happy Easter Joanna. Take care
Hi Jeff , I read this comment a few times and it made me feel emotional!! Thank you again as always for sharing with me, it might sound strange I dont know but it does provide a kind of comfort to know that you do understand how I feel, as grief is a lonely place even though we all experience it … in our own individual way.
I think it’s been a very tough spell here and I also feel very much like “the dust has settled” after dads passing it created a storm or a whirlpool and It was confusing … whereas now it’s juus really bleak and sad without him… I can see it more clearly now. So the ache almost is more intense ? Anyway I’m rambling but I know that the yearning for his presence is very very tough!! I do feel motivated to do him proud 🥲
Easter here today too but we are roasting in 81° and cloudy but they say Tuesday we're back down to 61 so winter hasn't completely gone but I really can't decide which is more beautiful you or the rainbow 😉😁🐝
Ahhh so kind xx it’s definitely a bit all over the place with the weather
Thanks Jo, we all share your disappointment with the weather, it's been duff for so long but better times will come, keep going remember you're a farmer and one of a special breed. Best wishes from EA.
Thank you Colin, I remain hopeful it will get better xxx
This is showing up on Easter best Easter present I got. Couple of dry days then another mixed bag storm mid week. Filling some barrels with compost so possibly next weekend I will plant potatoes in them. Have you considered adding a livestock guardian dog some of the bigger breeds are really people friendly but will intimidate other dogs. My mother has been gone since 2003 and my dad since 1990 you will never stop missing them but it gets easier with time when it starts to get to you remember something you did with them that will bring a smile to your face.
Very awful weather here it’s a dam miserable life when it’s like this
Hi Joanna. Our weather in Newfoundland is exactly the same ! Put plastic bags over your socks before putting them in wet boots. Cheers ! PS my friend has 10 lambs now March 31.
i often did the plastic bag trick . works well .......now i dry them with a hair dryer .......
Thanks for the tips!! We have our first lamb arrive this morning
Pity it's only once a week we hear from u both
It’s all I can manage really with everything else I have to fit in
I would say you do miss him,as your dad but also,as someone to a advise you and make decisions were the animals are concerned,But he would have taught you well Joe,keep going, the weather I know is very worrying but try not to worry, just follow your heart and your knowledge you will be fine.Take care both.
Thank you Elwyn, definitely missing him is character, love , wisdom , and spirit xx
You all in the UK have all the rain and don't want it, and here in the central US, it is dry and we could really use some...it would be nice if it could balance out, so we can both have a good amount but not too much.
I agree! It seems unfair it’s too much or too little of one thing which causes so many issues cx
Nice video with birds singing.
I love to hear the birds
Of course nobody could or should replace your dad. You are doing a great job, he taught you well and you have also had the confidence to move forward with new ideas. It’s OK to miss him with each turn of the seasons. It will soon be summer and warm sun. This rain will make good grass.
Thank you for watching and for understanding xx
Nevermind Hope we need a miracle with all this rain, going to be a bad year for crops.
I think the lambs know how horrible it is so they staying where its nice and warm.
It really needs to turn away from the endless wet weather doesn’t it
I can’t remember a worse time xx
Well Done Joanna explaining your inner world & your displacement over the loss of your Dad & I'm proud of your voicing your inner turmoil & I saw the Rainbow last Week & Wild Daffodils whilst in Bamford too. Great seeing you giving safety & love to the Ewes - them Shite Dog Walkers are ashamed of themselves Keep them on the Leads !!! & your wanting Lambing season which I'm sure will be on the next video to go positively with Brighter prolonged Sunshine hopefully to come. Thank you for the lovely comment David ! The first lamb was born this morning so that’s exciting and hopefully it won’t be too wet this week although it seems to rain almost every day at the moment xx

Hi Joanna . Rainbow was perfect. Lovely to see Felix by the fire. Pity you cant close the footpaths during lambing season. The Wren singing was so sweet. Hoping April is better for you. I will Always miss my dad, its 14yyrs now. He will be missed forever , your lovely dad too. We have rain tomorrow aswell. 😊😊
Forgot to wish you both Happy Easter.
Missing someone so much is such a heavy feeling that carry for the rest of your life but I understand it is the price of love. The wren singing made me feel
So joyful, what wonderful creatures spreading their sweet songs around!! Happy Easter xxx
Here on the Atherton Tablelands, North Queensland, Australia Joanna we have had 396 ml of rain on our place. Hopefully April should dryer
We get about 150 every month and some months 200 +
So it feels endlessly wet, out of curiosity is it common for you to have so much rain?
@@DaleFarm this year while it is our traditional wet season in the tropic BUT we have had more than usual. Trying to landscaping a brand new house so it is testing my resolve
Jo.. I think you need some strong vitamin D over the winter and a SAD lamp and use it every day. I've been a bit vitamin d deficient for a few years and absolutely suffer from seasonal depression (the weather very much effects you it's clear) embrace it thousands of people do too. Sun helps so so much. I don't agree with running beds but have used them 2x this year with a lot of cream on just to boost my mood and vitamin d levels and boy it's helped!
It will change Joanna we are to dry over here
Let’s swap !!
How wide would you have to fence for the footpaths? In Scotland everywhere is a footpath.😔
I think it’s 1.5 metres
Post some signs for people to take care of their animals like you do😊
Unfortunately bee we have but they are selfish and only care about their dogs
Yeah it doesn’t apply to some
Unfortunately….! The message will never get across because people genuinely believe that they can do as they please
Hi Joanna , need signs for dogg poo .
Us city people are daft .
So sorry , i see this on hiking trail poo baged up but left .awful . I dont have a animal any more for many reason.
Some animal owners are irresponsible sadly ! I don’t think signs make any difference
i don't think you would be normal if you did not miss your dad. wishing you well as you battle on.
Thank you xxx
Good morning Joanna you might want to reconsider swapping farms ,we woke up to a snow storm this morning. ❤❤
