That depends on what you mean by simpler. At around the time Disney Universe was released, we also got games like Sonic Generations and Batman: Arkham City.
I'm currently playing this game again after seeing it at CEX. I remembered the game and bought it, I had a lot of fun with it as a kid by myself and with my cousins and sometimes with my dad. I got through it so quickly then, but goodness its such a drag now playing it. I can only really get through one world at a time. I play something else for an hour or two then I come back because I want to platinum it. Not only is playing each world twice a drag, playing them over and over to max out all character levels is horrific. I wish the worlds worked like the playlist feature, you can play one part at a time and allow it to save. The only thing that motivates me to play through it is remembering how happy it made me as a kid because it truly was one of my favourite games next to LittleBigPlanet, which I always connected some similarities between the two. I also think this game was much easier on the Wii because all my worlds were gold graded pretty quickly, I just get the average bronze and common silver playing it on the PS3, rarely getting gold on a second playthrough.

The only difference in playing people is that hex spawns and can give you curses that you can pass to other players.
