On 15M on wingers - Maeda and Kuhn have provided 49 goal contributions, just below half of the team's output. These positions are key. Realistically, if we have an individual player with Kuhn's/O'Riley's numbers then we should expect interest from EPL and the top 5 leagues. We'd be making 20M+ in profit. That's the trading model we're aiming for, therefore we need players in the squad who are able to contribute to a similar level; both Palma and Yang are not that. We're gonna lose money on these two, but move them on regardless and find better prospects.
Still don't understand why Kyogo was sold before the Villa game. Playing Kyogo on the wing instead of Yang could have made all the difference last night.

Just back from last nights game. We really looked liked rabbits in the headlights in the first 8 mins but credit to the players for getting back into the game but 2nd half credit to Villa they deserved the win. We re-group and go again. Great pod again bhoys.

Celtic sell Kyogo and now they will have to pay top dollar for another striker. We have already been screwed with the Idah deal, so maybe they won't sign another until the summer. Left back is a must.
Selling your best player immediately before the Villa game was idiotic to say the least reckless at worst.. Wingers on the bloody brain, Rodgers. Even bringing Jota back under the current remit of a manager so insistent upon narrow attacking dynamics and central overloads with inverted full-backs and wingers, makes absolutely zero sense. You’re absolutely not getting the best out of Jota unless he’s played high and wide. He is totally unsuitable for the inverting function. Hopefully the stubborn clown changes his inept playing style and system, but I wouldn’t bet my last tenner on it!
A think that's why he's bringing in Tierney so jota can cut in and Tierney can bomb past something taylor can't do. And Tierney can't do the inverted LB or arsenal would be keeping him there. 👍🍀

Are we seriously counting beating the worst team in the competition with an 86th minute OG? and the second worst team that also finished on zero points from 8 games?
Our failure to put away both Dinamo and Brugge (which were must win games), and our inability to stop conceding school-boy goals, has resulted in us qualifying with absolutely zero chance of progress. So, where does the grandiose optimism come from??
As for Domestic matters - have you watched the standard of Football since Rodgers returned?? Last season was some of worst Football witnessed at Celtic Park (and Away) for many years. This season, we started well, but since the Leipzig game we largely had to sit through more insipid, low tempo, horseshoe-matrix Football against dug meat opposition.
No one expects us to be at our free-flowing, expansive, high tempo best every week, far from it - but an 11 game slump whilst reverting back to his atrocious pedestrian playing style, is absolutely not acceptable. This is Glasgow Celtic, it is not Hibernian, Hearts or Killie. Accepting mediocrity is never befitting of 'The Celtic Way’, especially up against utter pish week in week out, that operate at a mere tenth of our budget.
Daizen, Reo and Matt O'Riley (not to mention Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny ) joined January 2022 for a combined£5m, you can get value without a massive spend but I am happy we are pitching signings a bit higher. It's as if 20 years of inflation never happened when you consider we were playing in the 1.5-3.5m pool for all that time.
Mibbies Orjaester is for Maeda to be played thru the middle and Jota to be pushed to the left if Kvistgaarden of Idah are unavailable.

Last night credible? Am I the only person who believes we were within a fraction of a 7 - 3 thumping. We gave away a 4th goal that would be terrible in a Sunday pub league. You're talking of maturity seems somewhat adrift after having to see such a difference in quality between us and them. Unfortunately I believe the next two games in Europe will demonstrate exactly how statistics come well after "lies and damned lies". Imagine starting Jota and Kuhn and then bringing on Maeda and Orjasaeter when teams are starting to get tired. So It makes sense to have 4 quality wingers.

Going with the timescale of players, here, maeda would be wanting to leave in the summer, but im thinking kuhn will have offers, so a replacement for either or both must be found
Id say most people would push back on this but Rodgers has had a couple of digs at Kuhn regarding tracking back, pressing etc. and overall in the CL run outwith the Leipzig match (the one after which Rodgers said he could've done more) how effective was he in the run of matches -certainly the last 4 he's been relatively ineffective and at Ibrox -i've a sneaky feeling if the Norwegian winger comes in Kuhn could be sold especially if a 20 to 25 million bid made
Well we need a decent left back in pronto to cover or compete with Taylor. Will probably have to be a loan deal but a bit late in the day to achieve that. I just hope Celtic had a good contingency plan in place to cover their backs in case Tierney couldn't come this window. It's all looking a bit messy.

We have more than 4 wingers just now, they just aren’t good enough. Replacing Yang and Palma with Jota and this other lad makes sense. So many games, injuries and suspensions. JF can get some minutes as well when required.
Surely we need 4 top quality wingers. Look at us ATM relying on Yang and a fit forrest when theres injuries.
I would say it makes total sense to have four really good wingers, as James Forrest will not play much next year. Also Palma and Yang wont be there, so at the moment we have 6 wingers only three contributing

It’s a bit small minded to worry about keeping them “happy”. Top clubs will have two good players for each position and the game time Yang has got shows there’ll be opportunities…

I thought we played well last night, (i wont mention our left side of defence and how big mobile midfields seem to run over ours ) so happy for idah and watching it back 2nd time (dont shout at me) i thought trusty was good. I've no grumbles about the results in the group run bar one -Zagreb -theoretcals based on draws and fixtures are well and good before and in hindsight but surely it has to be about where you are when each fixture comes around and what happens on the pitch not the name of the team you're playing or whether home or away -Zagreb were poor on the night as the match unfolded and were there for the taking we responded in a pedestrian, cautious manner -2pts dropped for me and I think by hook or by crook we were always very likely to beat Young Boys -we'd 8pts in.the bank going to Zagreb and should've been going into the Young Boys match on 11pts and could've finished on 14pts -not knit picking or over expectancy -the whole 'what would you have taken prior' thought process is made redundant with every match as it passes -Zagreb was a golden opportunity as it transpired on the pitch for 3pts and yes they finished on 11pts but the night they played us they were poor and we should be beating Young Boys at Celtic Park whether a tight scoreline or not

Unless he’s completely resigned to losing his back-up LB in Zinchenko in this window, then it makes absolutely no sense to hold on to your third-choice LB who you evidently don’t rate good enough to fulfil the inverted role.
KT playing LCB for Scotland has definitely helped evolve his game in the central channel, but he has largely struggled acting as a pivot alongside Partey or Rice at 6. Arteta would often have to change the left dynamics entirely if KT was the only option at LB, as he was unsuitable for that inverting function. Changing his role to hugging the line and overlapping meant that Martinelli being shifted inside to the half-space, given much more freedom to attack the new found space generated by the false nine’s dropping off. The result being, Arsenal's attacking dynamics improved, only for the not so bright ex Jaffa to resort back to playing inverted Zinchenko et al. It’s a combination of things, but it’s also personal for whatever untold reasoning.
Working in London regularly, I know the Arsenal fans love Arteta and the only real gripe they have with him is not playing KT more - a guy they genuinely adore and at one stage thought he was going to be a future Captain. Celtic supporters honestly wouldn’t believe just how much they love KT and are desperate to keep him. He is their modern day Nigel Winterburn.

How well the teams matured ? They were 2 down within 5 minutes, great display for both goals but Villa could’ve had six or seven, that’s the reality.
The reality is Villa has a squad worth 100s of millions, Celtic punching well above, missing 3 key players as well, to come back from 2 down shows the mentality has changed.

A think miada and hatate will be gone in the summer, and bringing two wingers that can play left or right in this window is a great plan, but a think brendan is over looking a strong defencive midfielder we look week in games like last night, mcgregor doesn't perform at his best in the holding roll .
