Enjoying this in 2023!! Wow, what a talent Betty Hutton was!!
Me too, october 2023.
That gal could SING!! ...and I loved her antics when she expressed the "energetic" songs.
The amazing Betty Hutton...so talented, great actress. Beautiful singer and what a voice! One in a million entertainer. I always loved her when I was young. So glad to see her entertain and give her delightful performance again.
She never lost the energy and talent. Love you Betty!💔
🎶💕🎶
Bette went into a convent and was the cook and did dishes for them for years. Getting counseling and guidance from a priest. She never wanted to entertain or be in public eye again. I'm glad she got the help and returned to the stage. She was a natural entertainer.
She never lived in a convent. In the esrly 1970s a Catholic priest rescued her when she was detoxing from pill addiction. She served as a cook and housekeeper at the parish rectory for a short time, and then lived independently elsewhere.
The incomparable Betty Hutton! What a huge stage presence and a great performer. Love her and nay her soul be singing for the angels!❤
The world will never see a grandma rocking like that again :(
She was just as terrific in 1983 as she was in the 40’s. What an unbelievable performance, & talent! I will always watch her performances in films whenever I can.❤Love you Betty Hutton.
Betty's aged 62 here xx
Betty Hutton is one of the greats, she’s so expressive and puts her all into every song.
OMG 😳 stunning - she shone like a brilliant diamond refracting in bright sunlight yet her life was ... dark, traumatic ... I'm so glad Betty had one last golden glow toward the end of her life.
A truly unique heart for all to see, she is always and forever a STAR ✨⭐
Betty Hutton is in the league of Judy Garland but each has her own charms. I love them both and I miss their talents. Betty Hutton has an electric energy and vibrant personality that no other TV or movie personality has. She is a legend if I may say. She was just overlooked way too much. Her talents are boundless.
Well said. I read that Ethel Merman demanded Betty's songs be cut from a musical. Maybe Betty had bad management.
Shame.
@@citizen1163 Ethel Merman maybe envious of Betty's vibrant energy. Anyway, I am not even a fan of Ethel Merman. I don't watch her. Thanks for the comment.
@@susanamoroso8581 Agree!
Betty was a vibrant powerhouse & adorable.
Ethel was a powerhouse.
Saw Ethel Merman, in Annie Get Your Gun. In NewYork. A new theater in the early 60’s New York?. Foget
@@citizen1163 it was one song. Because Ethyl sang it in a big musical and didn't want Bette to sing it better. Jealousy! Ethyl belted out a song ....Bette could belt them out also.
Holy Cow! THAT is the definition of giving to, and grabbing an audience. Remarkable Ms. Hutton.
I was lucky enough to witness Bettys amazing talent in 1980 when she performed in ANNIE on Broadway!
Eternal rest grant unto Betty oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her may she rest in peace . Amen . 👍🌹♥️
Betty was such a tremendous performer! She was so dynamic. She was pure emotion and joy overflowing. Her life was difficult. However, God blessed her with good friends who loved and supported her. They provided a wonderful home for her in Palm Springs and loved and cared for her to her dying day. She had a well deserved soft landing at the end of her life.
"It's so super to feel love again in a room..." --- She went through so many bad times, but through it all she radiated love and incredible talent that will live forever. There is still love in the room, Betty dearest!😀
She was loaded with talent, and ENERGY! Singer, dancer, actress and great comedienne. She made so many wonderful movies....my favorite was "The Stork Club".
The Miracle of Morgan's Creek was mine.
@@sodpoo Miracle of Morgan's Creek is mine as well. Preston Sturges is a master. I do love the Stork Club and The Perils of Pauline.
As we age, we gain appreciation for those before us. Hats off. You are a very excellent voice and entertainer.
BETTY HUTTON IS A STAR and they don't make them like that anymore.
Yes never heard any of Betty music Live Fantastic voice🌹
WHAT A SHOWWOMAN!!!SHE IS FABULOUS!!!
Always loved Betty Hutton such energy !
I would've paid anything to have seen this!!! She'll be a legend forever!
Holy smokes can she belt them! What talent!
One of the greatest things Bethesda has ever done is introducing newer generations to eras of music that should never be forgotten 💟
Wow, would have loved to have been in the audience, always loved Betty. Hope they make a movie of her life.
My mother absolutely loved Betty Hutton. I love her too.
So unique to see the amount of natural energy she brings to her performances!
I didn't realize that she did this performance after she had met the priest. What a talent through all her struggles. I didn't see her children at her memorial but hope they were there.
Thought I'd re-watch and appreciate this again - fabulous.
Even then she still had IT!!!
Her musical & comedic timing was sensational…. A very talented & gifted performer…. Watching this in 2024 & stilling missing Betty Hutton R.I.P beautiful lady!❤
That was a great interview. Betty was so gracious and honest. A truly great talent.

One of the best entertainers that ever lived.....I loved her....We all did.....She had a smile that we all loved to see.......
She's Absolutely Fabulous!
This great entertainer never gets the credit she so richly deserves
The lady Bob Hope called a Vitamin pill with legs.
Betty is a supreme performer and means so much. Fills me with joy..
Betty Hutton is incredibly great throughout this stunning PBS special I remember well, over time holds up well as a testament to a legendary talent who really knew how to thrill an audience in her later years, Bravo Betty Hutton!
That would be great. A movie celebrating her life. I saw her in a circus film with James Stewart. She was brilliant. Stole the whole film. Also loved Gloria Grahame. The stars shone brighter in thos days. ❤
I treasure my 78 rpm record of doctor, lawyer, Indian chief that I’ve had for more than 75 years.

The finish to that opening number is extraordinary!!!
im sitting in tears after this performance
An untopppably great performance. It's her birthday, but we get the presents (from Betty).
Betty Hutton was always my favorite....she had a way of smiling when she was young and it was wonderful to watch her perform.........
God bless dear Betty Hutton. Oh how I loved her! I saw most of her films. Folks, I know for sure: she is in Heaven with the Lord Jesus Christ! May God bless her family today.
God saved her. She is an exceptional human being . We were blessed . Fuck the men that used her 😱💞
what a treat.a very underrated performer
Betty was never underrated, she was a huge star, who left show business, to clean up her act. She is well remembered and greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU BETTY; WE ARE STILL CLAPPING & CHEERING FOR YOU!!!!!! BOSTONRACHELXX
I’m crying with joy. Rest in peace Betty, Mom….and talented older sister. Betty was the most beautiful talented Clown that ever lived. I know one when I see one and she’s the tops! ❤from NuNu
Betty Hutton and Anne Miller were both hugely popular in Scotland in their hay day - i think because the working classes could relate to them - they were fun and girls could aspire to be like them and guys could imagine getting on with them
My favorite entertainers of the 1940s betty i love love you so much i connects with you.
She is still great here!!
Thanking all who ve made it possible for me to find this lady whom I’d never heard before or new about , and I’ve been looking at old movies for years other than the times I’ve had family small myself but how come she saw almost hidden all my 68 yrs , I honestly couldn’t find her to be able to love her and appreciate all her talents and don’t think I’ll ever be able to get all of her work s or history as to many people must have kept her away from others whom were “maybe more glamorous and more money valuable, because perhaps they could not believe she’d last the energy side long enough for them to gamble on and other stars we,er into glamour or status like that so they could keep them going for longer as for her drink @ pills we don’t know us viewers what As said not enough knowledge about her to us BUT THAKS SO VERY MUCH FOR THE INTRODUCTION AND HAPPINESS SHES GIVEN OUT TO ME X p.s. don’t always believe in Chinese whispers ! ….
I love to watch her!!❤
NOW THIS IS A LOT OF FUN TO WATCH! LOVE THIS!
Oh so glad Betty performed again
Holy shit this is amazing!
I so wish I could have seen her!
She was the type of Dynamite we'll never see again !!!
A truly great star.
John if you spent a tour of duty in fischbach, hope you had a good life, from Tom Lavieri
It’s seems she only truly came alive and lived in front of an audience and needed that relationship and live with them. When the lights went off that’s when the troubles came up
This is wonderful and so touching. Thank you so much for posting.
The Greatest Show On Earth. Tops in my book.!
Just wow - goosebumps 👏
Wow! What a voice!
Wow, she brought the same energy and humor at that age. Betty Hutton is a treasure
2024 and all I can say is WOW. She still had it.

She and her sister were the high energy cuties of their generation of singers.
No kidding ! Both of them so beautiful and so very talented. And to come from such a messed up background, it gives me a lot of respect for both women.
So absolutely wonderful!! Thank You!
usually when a 'star' is washed up their looks are gone, their voice is gone ... Miss Hutton never lost any of these attributes yet her life sunk so low. She obviously never lost her beauty or talent yet was 'washed up'. What a waste that she had wasted years.
She is almost a grown up Shirley Temple with more bluster!
Beautiful Betty.
A real star.
what a powerhouse.
God it's great seeing this again... many thanks for sharing this gem!
This is the betty i knew, she did this so well.
My Beloved Godmother.
WONDERFUL!!! God healed her heart! but the damage was done to her family.
she looks so happy here
Loved this video from the best of the best......
she was found living in rhodes island just before this I believe in a convent or half way house. Very sad story if I remember right.
The wonderful thing is she made it through in the end!
Bags of energy what a lovely person she was too she seemed so very warm you just want to hug her to death !i wish there was more of this show ,or more like this on you tube fantastic ,I believe she had the saddest life you could imagine , so sad for her .! 🌹
Super great talent
What an entertainer!!

The Gal who invented adrenaline!!!
Well said!!

Thanks! I had Dipsy Doodle sensational video on VHS but can’t find it anywhere
I love this lady! R.I.P. dear sweet Betty!
Lovely drop of Betty xxx
Is this Eddie Albert introducing Betty here ? It sure sounds like him.
Yes. They were contemporaries, Albert goes back to the 40s too.
RUclips was invented too late! Would have been a different world for these people.
She was in her 60s!!!
Sadly, this was her last public performance. But it shows that she had her trademark verve and vivacity fully intact right to the end.
No it wasn't. This actually brought her back into the public eye for a bit. She did an episode of Baretta and filled in for three weeks on Broadway. She played Miss Hannigan when Shelly Bruce was playing Annie. It might've been Dorothy Loudon that she replaced.
Rusty Wolfe She replaced Alice Ghostly.
So, did Auntie Esmerlda replace Dorothy Loudon? I know Dorothy Loudon left Annie to do her own series on CBS, which NEVER was given a fair chance to find it's audience. One other thing that's interesting about Miss Hannigan that a couple of years ago in the revival, Andrea McArdle played her.
Rusty Wolfe I read that, yes, Esmarelda took over for Louden but took a three week vacation and Betty Hutton filled in. Nice singing voice when she wasn't "on". I wonder if the studio gave her uppers the way they did Garland and Rooney? She's great at the rapid-fire lyrics, but a little much at times.
Rusty Wolfe - not true. This was in 1983 and was indeed her last public performance. Her appearance on “Baretta” was six years earlier in 1977 ... and her three week stint in “Annie” was in 1980.
This is great!
Betty, Betty, Betty. You had me at 'Murder, He Said', darlin'.
😍😍😍😍😍 and the lullaby near the end😂😂😂😂😂😂💕💕💕
