  • Hey everyone,
Happy Halloween to you and yours. Today we are making this Good Witch Hat. You can make this for any size small-medium dog/cat.
This is apart of my on going Halloween hat pet series, I have 3 coming to my channel today, and 1 tomorrow which will be the final tutorial to add to my series. After that, I will be posting random crochet tutorials.
There are NO printable/downloadable crochet pattern, it's all in the video. I will however write directions here in this description box. I work part time, also have a lot going on so I was unable to do write a downloadable pattern, record, edit, etc these videos wouldnt have even happened if I hadn't by-passed a written pattern.
Anyways here is the pattern written:
    Ingredients (Materials)
-#4 Worsted Weight Yarn (100% Acrylic), I used Loops & Threads Yarn colors: Amethyst, Orange and Black.
-H/8 5.0 mm for Witches Hat, G/6 4.0 mm crochet hook for the witches’ buckle
-Yarn needle *for weaving in ends
    -Scissors snipping your yarn ends
    Witches Formula (U.S. Terminology)
    Ch(s)- Chain(s)
    St(s) - Stitch(es)
    Rep Repeat
    MR- Magic Ring
    Sc -Single Crochet
    Dc- Double Crochet
    Hdc- Half Double Crochet
    Sl St- Slip Stitch
    Pattern Notes
The chain-2 will never count as a stitch
The size of this hat is for small pets (dogs or cats) within a small-medium size ranging from 7-17 lbs.
You can make a bigger size for a larger dog by beginning with 9 sts instead of 8 in the magic ring and work up until you get the perfect circumference size that fits their head and customize the rest of the hat
    Pattern
Begin with a MR, Ch-2 (does not count as a st), 8 dc into MR, sl st to first dc. (8)
Round 2: Ch-2,1 dc into same st, 1 dc in next 7 sts, sl st to first dc. (8)
Round 3: Ch-2, 2 dc in every st around, sl st to first dc. (16)
Round 4: Ch-2, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in every st around, sl st to first dc. (16)
Round 5: Ch-2, 1 dc in same st, 2 dc in next, 1 dc, 2 dc in next st* Rep around, sl st to first dc. (24)
Round 6: Ch-2, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in every st around, sl st to first dc. (24)
Round 7: Ch-2, 1 dc in first 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in first 2 sts, 2 dc inc after* rep around, sl st to first dc. (32)
Round 8-9: Ch-2, 1 dc in same st, 1 dc in every st around, sl st to first dc. (32)
Change color after ending round 9, beginning round 10
Round 10 (Earholes): Ch-2, 1 dc in same st. 1 dc in next 2 sts, Ch-12, skip 6 sts, dc to join to the 7th st, 1 dc in next 9 sts, ch-12 once more, skip 6 sts, join to 7th, 1 dc in last 6 remaining sts. Sl st to first dc. (44)
Round 11: Ch-2, 1 dc in same st. 1 dc in every st across working into every chain as well, sl st to first dc. (44)
Round 12: Ch-2, 1 hdc in same st. 1 hdc in every st around, sl st to first hdc. (44)
Round 13: Ch-2, in the same st put 3 dc’s. After work (3) dc’s in every st around, sl st to first dc. (132)
(Ear ties on both sides) taking the color you want to use, underneath your work inside the hat locate where your chain bridge is we did to make the earholes. We chained 12, and want to locate the center of that (the 6th st), join your yarn with a slip stitch and sc, then chain 35 to that stitch, working 1 sc into the 2nd ch from the hook (or whatever stitch you want to use), and continue putting 1 sc in every stitch down until you get back to the beginning where you joined your yarn, and sl st to the same st, and finish off then weaving in your ends.
    Buckle Applique Pattern
    (Change hook to G/4.0 MM)
Using black, ch-13. (you want multiples of 3+1)
Row 1: 1 sc into 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st. 1 sc in first 2 sts, 3 sc in next st after* Rep across (4 times total). Ch-1 and finish off leaving a long time for sewing.
(Assembling the buckle)- After this, your work should be curling to the shape of a buckle naturally. You want to sew close the ending and beginning side to create the buckle. Once you have connected both sides to create the buckle, you will place the buckle on the hat, where round 9 and 11 is in the center; then continue to sew it on the hat, weaving in your ends once you have secured the applique on the hat, you are done.
Thank you for watching my crochet tutorials, and continuing to support my passion after 8 years! You guys rock!
    Love,
    Danielle
