Hands down, THE most beautiful pre show selection in Drum Corps International history.

I'll never be able to listen to this without seeing the Phantom Regiment coming out of the Tunnel at finals in 2010 in my head....beautiful music, beautiful performance.

I had tears in my eyes when Phantom played this in 2010!!!:') That brassline and Rennick's arrangement for percussion was spot on! SUTA!

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. I used to work with Michael's dad, Saul Kamen, in the dental clinic at Long Island Jewish Hospital (in the geriatric center). I had met Michael at a holiday gathering many years ago. I had no idea I was in the presence of such a genius creator. He seemed to be a very kind and humble guy. What depths of emotions he must have had access to bring such moving pieces to life and to touch other's souls with his music. Sad he had to leave us so soon...

I learned about this piece thanks to Phantom. I love Michael Kamen.

I heard this in band class today...we were asked to listen to it and write the images that came to our heads. I wrote about a forest. In it was a brook. There was a little family of deer, birds chirping overhead, and two little wolf pups playing on a spring day. Then, at the climax, a herd of horses gallops across the plains on one side of the forest.
That's obviously not as detailed as on paper, but that's what I think about when I hear it ^^

Wow. This is the most breathtaking experience I've had in a long time. I can't believe that a group of musicians can make such beautiful music. I hope that I can one day be a part of an ensemble like this. So many great memories brought back from my marching band's arrangement of this literature.

This is such a beautiful piece of music! I wondered the first time I heard it on the radio if it was written by the same person who composed the score for Mr. Holland's Opus... And now come to find out it was! I love the sense of wonder and grandeur in Michael Kamen's music! Such rich emotional resonance.

+Kate Rice The first time I heard of Michael Kamen was this piece, the Into The Light movement of New Moon in the Old Moon's Arms. I was actually on a flight home from Dallas to LA, and listening old school to the in-flight music channel on the plane (does anyone ever anymore??). I was 20 minutes out of LA, descending from 20,000 feet, coming through great big puffy cumulonimbus clouds, and as you pointed out --his music soars, with a dynamic sense of grandeur. I actually became very emotional, looking out the porthole window at the beauty of the afternoon sky, hearing this music...the build to the climax and resolution...and I was a sloppy crying baby....to this day this piece still draws intense emotion, and I'm not an outwardly emotional guy. When I heard that Michael had passed some years later, I was really sad for Earth. We lost a true adjudicator of nature and God's masterworks.

If the object of creating music is to elicit emotion, this piece certainly has achieved that goal. at least in my opinion. I first heard portions performed by the Phantom Regiment in 2010 before I heard the original version. I remember my initial reaction to their "Into the Light" show. It was of profound sadness, and I thought of death. I dont know why. My reaction to hearing the original was much the same. I envision people entering a chapel before a funeral to this music. I think it fair to say that I love the original and the interpretation by the Phantom Regiment.
