A tip for drilling out the slot for the ring. Drill on both sides then use a larger drill bit going into the face of it

Nice project, I've made my templates and it's now on my build list, thank you! Out of interest have you tried wipe on poly as a finish over the char? I make my own wipe on poly these days and have been pretty impressed with it. I just use 50% white spirit and 50% polyurethane varnish (Matte, satin or gloss whichever you like but not water based of course!!) it's a really nice finish and dries super fast, builds up in layers as well if you want and you can adjust the mix to have more or less spirit or poly depending on the effect you want. I use it on vinegar wood stains at 50/50 and it really pops!

Thank you for watching, Yes I have in the past, I have also made my own. It works well on slight burning but didn’t for me on full gator char. I normally mix linseed oil in mine at an equal 1/3 mix.

Nice! I can see some parkside tools on your table 😅 I'm a big fan of these as they are really good and reasonably priced 👌

Looks awesome but i think the main point of this is the bottle opener.

Thank you for watching, I took the price without the bottle opener. If you wanted to include the bottle opener it was £107 and extra £9.

Did the wood split on the forehead?

Thank you for watching, Yes in the burning process sometime the wood will spilt but I think it gives this some character.

Put a bottle opener on it so it can go in a garage or man cave.
