Totally agree....Downward Spiral is so iconic, especially when you think about where it was recorded, and the dark place Trent was in when recording the album. It is a complete artistic achievement.
It's certainly an amazing album from start to finish, but With Teeth and The Fragile are just as amazing. I think both of those albums showcase his softer and heavier sides.
I suggested March of the Pigs from the same show and damnit I'm suggesting it again. What you're feeling is the overall sense of dread that permeates The Downward Spiral album.
March of Pigs off Tension sounds great. Everyone keeps checking out Closer and Woodstock to see Trent break stuff and get creepy, but the actual music has gotten better with time and not being creepy or breaking stuff.
Trent Reznor is a musical genius. From where he started to the point he is at now, an Oscar Winner for a Film Score. He can do everything. From a simple and haunting piano piece to an Industrial Thrash. Some songs will resonate with you and others won't. If you want something fast and heavy; Wish March Of The Pigs Slow and Thoughtful; Something I Can Never Have Hurt
I was in that mud pit at that show in '94... have the scar on my forehead from some dudes tooth falling on me from crowd-surfing. I have a mic from the guitarist that got kicked into the front row at the end of the show in my collection of stuff thrown from the stages and a lifetime of memories of seeing Rollins Band, Metallica, Green Day, RHCP, Janes Addiction, Blind Mellon, Primus, Joe Cocker, Cyprus Hill, and so many more amazing bands. NIN was the reason I hitchhiked for 200 miles and hopped the fence to get there though.
I was there for this. Such an iconic performance. This is so heavy and quintessential NIN. Glad you enjoyed this. Their whole Woodstock show was simply incredible.
Me too. I was only 13. I really shouldn't have been there. LOL But it changed my life and what I knew about music. It also ruined concerts for me as i never had anything close to this experience again in my life.
You lucky bums. This is one of my favourite performances, sad I was too young and far away to have witnessed it. They put their souls into this. Trent and all the fine musicians that have been a part of this over the decades are behemoths.
NIN is deffinetly one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Head like a hole, came back haunted, every day is exactly the same, dead souls, all the love in the world... fuck the list could go on and on. Good shit y'all.
All the Love in the World does NOT get enough love or credit. Such a great song. You could look at it from a point of view asking yourself "Where is MY love?" A place of jealousy vs. a place that is well deserving.
The night the masses found out about "Industrial Music". But that was a wild night. Metallica and smashing pumpkins were also playing that night if memory serves me correctly. Green day was earlier that afternoon as well as Stone Temple pilots. 48 hours of great bands.
Nine Inch Nails at Woodstock was the greatest live performance of a band ever. It was a confluence of events never to be repeated. The mud, the crowd, the rain, the flawless set. It was perfect.
Mudstock ‘94. I was there in the endless 6” mud. It was insane. Wet, muddy and cold at night. Wet, muddy and hot during the day. A few bands played too. 😜 VIVA MUDPEOPLE!! 🫠
I've seen NIN 5 times.. The 1st time I saw them was at the March of the Pigs tour in 94 in San Jose. (Yep I dropped 50.00 on that long sleeve concert shirt. lol) I'll give you an idea of what the show was like. Imagine the reverberation you feel from the Pink Floyds song 'Time' when the bomb goes off. and how startled you are when it does goes off. That's the feeling you get if the bomb reverberation lasted the entire f*cking NIN's show. You could feel the music pound your chest and come up through your feet. Trent Reznor to me is a music God. And Downward Spiral is the proof.
NIN. #1 LIVE BAND!! ahead of tool, pantera, slayer, gojira, amon amarth, Elton john, rage , pumpkins, slipknot lamb of god, chimaira, fear factory, messhuga opeth etc etc. Saw them in 2013 or 14 in Luxembourg! Unbelievable live!!! Just mesmerizing!
You left out Radiohead who as good or better live than any of the bands on your list I have seen a number of the bands on your list including NIN and they have nothing on Radiohead.
NIN is very much known for their live performances, to the point where new technologies like LCD screens and lighting techniques have literally been INVENTED just to be in their live shows. I've seen him twice, once at Red Rocks in Colorado, and once in an Amphitheater, both were amazing not just for the music but for the visuals too. Woodstock 94 is very old NIN, a great performance, but just think about what they put on here and then give them 25 years to improve on it. =P
The update in tech can’t match a young Trent going bllz out in this performance. 94 NIN has never been remotely matched. And that goes across all live music for any artist
You should watch as many clips from Woodstock 94 for Nine Inch Nails you can. Being so young, I have never felt so envious as I did watching that concert. I wish I could be transported back in time. Every song by them gets harder when played live.
"Reptile" was always my favorite from The Downward Spiral. "Last" from the Broken EP is a banger and my favorite from that album. You should check it out. Love the reactions, keep it up!
I am a huge nin fan and have seen them 10 times, I would highly recommend any live version of somewhat damaged, the big come down, ruiner, the great destroyer, and ghosts 31. Look for the lights in the sky tour or the wave goodbye tour
I love Trent's grin over the "loneliness" line.. you can see he's feeling it's all getting communicated and shared well. There's little quite as good as enjoying the art of delivering a live performance.
I had the privilege to watch them soundcheck Reptile and a few other tracks then meet the band afterwards in Birmingham England. And what an f in amazing gig afterwards. Definitely one of the highlights of my life.
I’m so happy you love NIN now. NIN is a huge reason I went down the rabbit hole known as music and never returned. I’ve seen them at least twice. Happiness in Slavery & Gave Up would be my recommendations, but I love all NIN suggestions. I can’t wait for the next one!
Omg really sleeping on NIN not only NIN. But trent in general from NIN to his movie scores my friends wooow amazing story he is and him and his wifes group so good too hands down 2nd fav live band behind tool
NIN - "Last" off the Broken EP. Studio or Live either way will blow your minds. And for something mellow yet dark that is both a musical and lyrical masterpiece, Something I Can Never Have is a must listen.
I love the dual male female reaction videos to nin. The dudes are always like, man that's hardcore, and the women are always squirming a bit uncomfortably because the women actually hear the lyrics and understand
I’m very fortunate to have seen this live on the 2008 With Teeth TOUR. TRENT was coming of hiatus. NIN played nearly the entire DOWNWARD SPIRAL ALBUM. Imagine being in a huge arena and everyone shouting KILL ME. Yes, it was epic. I haven’t seen them since. FYI, GOGIRA is ON TOUR!!! You should see if they have a date near your location. I love watching your reactions. I’ve bee watching them since the Truck Days…GAME OVER MAN! Game over!!
Yeah I remember getting this on pay per view and partied the whole weekend watching Woodstock ‘94. They moshed down in the mud with everyone right before their set but later on they said they regret doing it because it made playing a nightmare. I’ve seen them live twice. The first time they co-headlined with David Bowie, crazy good, such an epic show watching both on the same stage doing Hurt and Reptile. The second time I saw them happened to have A Perfect Circle open, which was actually APC’s very first concert. Crazy, during the show Trent Reznor stopped everything to save a girl who was getting trampled in the pit and after she was safe they immediately picked up precisely where they left off, mind blowing.
As a fan from the early days of NIN and loving all of Trent's creations musically over the years, I think NIN's ultimate live song is Terrible Lie. I've seen them many times and this song is always the one that just hits home, and reminds me of how his music stands the test of time. I would love to see your reactions to Terrible Lie - Live.
Yep. That's exactly what I came here to recommend. But I was pretty sure somebody had to have already recommended that video. I fucking love that version. These guys should definitely watch that one as well. "Down In It" is top 5 workout song
kudos to picking such an awesome tune from an amazing gig. i saw them live for the first time on this tour here in Dublin... NIN are Legend Respect & Peace
i've been a fan from the very beginning and my first gig was tour for The Downward Spiral and i agree that is another level, but, in my humble opinion I feel that The Fragile is the apex in terms of songwriting, arrangement, musicianship and lyrical content, a more rounded experience... and this is because it came from a far less pained part of Trent where his genius flowed on more positive waves - but isn't that the beauty of music and it's relationship to the individual listener Respect & Peace
Fun fact: they recorded downward spiral in the living room of the Sharon Tate/Manson murder house, it was then torn down when Trent Reznor moved out at the end of 94
Any stadium concert I’ve seen them six times the show is always an experience that progresses at it goes on aatcb… lights in the sky … with teeth tour … all of them !!!
what made it so great , was it rained so much that weekend , that they took advantage of the mud and gritty filling and topped it off with the entire show
I love how you took his hand at the massively emotional point, goodness me Trent knows how to convey the emotion as do the whole band in this performance
Man, love your guys' reactions, brings me back to days when I was discovering bands like Opeth, driving around, getting stoned and just losing it over pieces of music and sections that would just make me lose my mind. His performances are always great him and maynerd and phil from pantera were working on a side project called tapeworm they made like 4 songs but trent never released them said they just werent good enough lmao i doubt that! However maynard actually released one of the songs on one of the puscifer albums ill let you guys see.if you can fig it out but its good and what i hear in my head as a maynard and nin colab! I say maynard because it dosent sound anything like a tool album(musically)!
Project Tapeworm, ah what might have been, I actually hadn’t heard about Phil being involved, cool. Anyways one of the ones that Puscifer released was “Potions”. It’s a MUST LISTEN!
I was at this performance and by far my favorite having already seen them earlier in the tour at a closed arena venue. The dried mud of they're outfits was a result of they hanging out with fans who were mud sliding from all the rain. The resulting look just added to the atmosphere of his music and the performance.
My favorite (or at least one of my fave) NIN songs of all time. Love the slow heavy industrial sound to it and his voice just fits so perfectly. Also I can sing along the lyrics from start to finish on this one. :D
The energy at a Nails concert is crazy! Mind blowing!!! Anything on the live dvds are great! Terrible lies 🔥🔥🔥Head like a hole or Hurt will bring the place down! ❤️❤️
"Need to contaminate to alleviate this loneliness" is a line to hit hard for me, i remember going through that, and sometimes still do, but not to the same extent. This album scared the shit outa me when i first heard it cause it hit so close to home, i remember turning it off a few songs in cause i was taken aback by how much i related to it and scared that it would somehow make me feel worse, but i was fasinated too and eventually built up the courage to turn it on again, and in fact the oposite happened, i feel it helped me feel like i wasn't alone in what i was going through, listening to it felt like an exorcism. I was very young when i first heard it and thankfully im much older now, and "The Downward Spiral" is still possibly my favourite album ever. Great reaction, love the energy!
This was such an amazing day, was glad I was able to make it up front for the last 4 performances of this stages lineup. This was Trents breakout performance!
I’ve seen them live honestly about a dozen times and they keep raising the bar every time, the shows are never the same and your going to see something new and fresh from the mind of Trent Reznor. Check out “Cope Of A” live from the Tension tour.
I saw none Inch Nails back in 2007 in Richmond Virginia. I have been to a lot of live shows in my life but that was definitely one of the best ones. Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson was playing bass and Josh Freese from A Perfect Circle was on drums. They played this, along with many other classics that I never expected to hear.
2009 live on stage Melbourne, “Burn”, “Letting You”, “10,000” “Wish” “I’m Afraid of Americans”Also live on VEVO “Copy of A”. Also if you just want an expose of their technical tightness, check out some of their live rehearsal vids from 2008. As far as Albums go most people would turn you onto “Pretty Hate Machine” or “Downward Spiral” but I would say look into “The Fragile”. Haven’t heard a complete comprehensive work like it. It’s regarded by many as his “Magnum Opus.” Trent is all about the details…and the newer concert recordings are very clean and balanced.
The fragile was my introduction to them, great Album then the older stuff came into the picture for me and wow. He is an amazing musician and has a killer discography. Definitely worth digging into them more.
Trent Reznors Songs speak half of my life direct out of my soul. Take his album with me into my psychological music therapy. To show how I feelin. LOng ago now. But love his work until today
I don't ever look at reactions but this intrigued me...and you didn't disapointed me...that's the only thing you can say while NIN is performing Woodstock 1994 D4nm!!!
Downward Spiral is a top ten album of all time and an experience to listen to in its entirety. NIN’s apex.

The fragile
@@re9246 I like The Fragile as well, but prefer Downward Spiral for it's heavier moments.
It's certainly an amazing album from start to finish, but With Teeth and The Fragile are just as amazing. I think both of those albums showcase his softer and heavier sides.
If you can land the 5.1 version it's a real treat having the density of his mixes spread through six speakers..
I suggested March of the Pigs from the same show and damnit I'm suggesting it again.

The fact this guy would do the film score for Disney's Soul is almost unbelievable to me. He's really mellowed the hell out.

The lights in the sky: the gift worth watching even if in your own time. Trent brings interaction with the stage like I've never seen before
Also like to add that back in 94 Trent was a bad drunk and intolerable. Once he sobered up his live shows and his vocals got much much better
The early to mid-90's were an era of genuine performances that have rarely been seen since.

The energy at a Nails concert is crazy! Mind blowing!!! Anything on the live dvds are great! Terrible lies 🔥🔥🔥Head like a hole or Hurt will bring the place down! ❤️❤️
This whole Woodstock performance is epic on another level and that's coming from a casual NIN fans. So FUCKING amazing!
You both should watch the entire 94 woodstock concert. It's legendary.
NEW JINJER!!! "Vortex" (10) JINJER - Vortex (Official Video) | Napalm Records - RUclips
Right Where it Belongs
Beside You in Time Tour
Reptile is still my favorite NIN song even after all this time and all the songs he's released.
If you listen closely...you can here a little APC PET/CountingBodiesLikeSheep
You should check out PRIMUS - Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers from woodstock 94 as well....One of the best live performances!
Down in it - live in woodstock 94, please.
Nin has been been voted several times as rolling stones tour of the year... I've seen them 3 times and they killed it everytime.
I love the bands you guys appreciate, it’s right in my zone too. NIN, spiritbox, Gojira. And guys…NIN have sooooo many killer tracks. Enjoy 😉
Have to do from same show NIN "Something I can Never Have"
2:36
"This sounds like Gojira!"
She looks at him like, "What the fuck? No!"
"March of the Pigs" official video.
Debut album “Pretty hate machine” in it’s entirety would be great for you to react to and I’d love to see it! 😎
NIN ❤❤
I love that you reacted to more then just closer trent reznor has been so diverse over the years no album is the same
2009 live on stage Melbourne, “Burn”, “Letting You”, “10,000” “Wish” “I’m Afraid of Americans”Also live on VEVO “Copy of A”.
You already did Reptile, but I'd check out the VIP soundcheck version from Burgettstown, PA, I stumbled across that one a while back and it's great
The fragile was my introduction to them, great Album then the older stuff came into the picture for me and wow. He is an amazing musician and has a killer discography. Definitely worth digging into them more.
Young NIN 😊
Dude! Nice t shirt of Donnie Darko!
I was at this show. It was the most talked about performance of the weekend. They were covered in mud like the rest of us.
Same concert, Woodstock 94, "Terrible Lie" is also really amazing.
