Your mom could totally hire you as the office business manager. You would be responsible for the maintenance of the office, ordering supplies, scheduling the employees (if there are different scheduled), supervise the receptionist, keeping the books (potentially), doing the insurance work, etc.
Appreciation for the daily devotion to God and including it in your videos. You don't see many (if any) content creators follow Christianity. Props to both of your parents being so supportive of you and caring so much for you and AJ to live a comfortable life. I wish more parents would be this way.
I worked as a medical receptionist for years. It is a busy job! We had a blurb on the bottom of our insurance form saying if insurance doesn't cover the full cost then they are responsible. I would make sure they understood their insurance coverage and that it was a courtesy for us to check but it's always a good idea for the patient to double check and know their coverage. Sometimes we aren't given accurate information either. I would have them sign those forms and keep them on file. That way your mom isn't working for free when insurance doesn't pay. :)
I totally agree on this. People need to understand that medical is a business and need to get paid for themselves and their employees. So the form you mention is very essential for any medical provider.
So many people think that I'd they have insurance everything is free and I spend 60% of my time talking with patients at check in explaining, no you have a $10, $15, whatever copay and X amount towards this and they're so shocked. I don't get how grown adults can be so oblivious especially about a service they're literally paying for.
Health insurance can be such a pain. Patients have to pay so much! Even with coverage. Having to explain to the patient that they are responsible for the deductible is tough. They think it’s me, the receptionist, coming up with these fees.
I work as a medical receptionist in ENT specialist office :) its quite difficult at first but as months pass by it gets easier. There are time I would cry for a good 20 minutes if I have to deal with many difficult situations but at the end of the day I feel accomplished and happy !
I’m going through this right now and sometimes I feel accomplished but others not do much :( I work as an MA but I’m not certified so I’ve been getting trained on the job. There’s so much going on especially with the administrative part of it since I do a bit of everything including patient care, labs, checkin, insurances, etc. Theres another MA that has been training me and she does much more than I do, but she also has a good amount of experience in the medical field. It’s been two months and I feel like I know nothing. I’m hoping that in a few more months it gets better and easier and I just feel more confident. Working at a medical practice is new to me and nerve wrecking because “what if I make a mistake that could cost the doctor a ton of money” or legal problems? 🥴
Yesssss! Thank you for shedding light on how crazy navigating health insurance in the US is! It’s honestly so sad! Would love more videos about your mom’s private practice and behind the scenes of all the roles you play to help support her practice!
I am so happy I found your channel. I am a medical receptionist for a mental health facility. I love my job. Coming from Social Work, this new career choice is amazing!
I went to school for medical office systems and have worked for a dental office as well as a vision clinic now. It’s so much fun! I love dealing with insurance weirdly enough!
I am blessed. My job pays 100 percent for my health insurance. And our deductibles are super low so basically free. I love it. I pay like $10 a month for dental and vision combined. When I do have kids and am married, my company will cover them at 75 percent.
Girrrrrl... Your insurance rant. Spot on. I'm a speech therapist (haven't officially started my job but have learned in my internships) and insurance is ridiculous. It determines the amount of time therapists can see patients. You bill differently depending on what you do in the appointment. On a personal note, I'm switching from my dad's insurance this year. I haven't even looked at my benefits package yet and I'm already intimidated 🙃
Hi there! I’m a Medical admin for a neurosurgeon in Canada, so I don’t have to bill medical insurance for them, however I have dealt with medical insurance when I worked at a physiotherapy clinic. It’s not nearly as bad the US but I can only imagine. It was nice to finally see a day in the life video with my actual career! And it’s great to see a RUclips with a real life job! All the best Rach!
In my country, Algeria🇩🇿🇩🇿, it's not easy to become a medical assistant. You must pass the baccalaureate exam and get a good marks . Then they choose you according to the order of the grade, whether you can enter the paramedical institute or not, in addition to a three-year training at the institute and a hospital . At the end of your studies, you will prepare your dissertation then you will get your job
Insurance in US seems pretty crazy, I appreciate European insurance world much more now haha 😄btw those brown bluelight glasses look very nice, they're very flattering!
Once I saw the devotional part I hit subscribed. I work with my husband in our Automotive business and came across your videos as I was researching Medical Receptionist jobs. ☺️
I clicked on this video so fast 🤗 girl I completely get it when it comes to insurance!! I’m a benefits coordinator for a dental office so insurance & patients treatment plans/fees is what I do all day everyday.. and it’s completely crazy. I feel your pain! Loved this video 💖
I loooove proverbs. Perfect positivity for the day. I’ve been listening to Joyce Meyers podcast about staying positive. Scripture has helped me tonssss with stress/bad mood. You look lovely as always ♡♡♡
I completely agree with your rant!!! Insurance is so garbage. Insurance companies are just a middle man who have agreements with the government so they upcharge to all get out. My husband and I recently switched to a direct primary care office. Basically we directly pay the office $120 per month and we can schedule as many appointments as we need. They are not all encompassing but they do a lot of routine stuff and even have an urgent care. There’s absolutely no insurance involved. It’s kind of like a subscription service for the doctor. It’s actually how medical care used to work, a town would have a doctor that everyone would see and pay directly. Insurance came along and ruined everything
Have you left your post with your dad's firm Rachel? What a wonderful daughter you are who fully loves and works with both parents. Thank you Rachel, you could teach us all a thing or two xxxx
You do need to go to school to be a medical assistant, I am a medical assistant that works in a Dermatology office. I did a year of school to become an MA. An MA does front and back office and is trained to deal with insurance, billing coding, scheduling, charting etc. as well as the clinical back office things.
Loved this Rachel. And it's super inspiring that when you set your mind to something you just go for it. I feel like I've sat in inaction for years and this was such a great reminder to go for it 🌟
Totally understand the insurance issue. I’ve started at an eye dr’s office and it was so crazy learning everything and how to handle it. I totally get where you’re coming from ❤️
Hi Rachel, I love your vlogs 😍 to the point I downloaded them and watch as many times as I could. I'm also a Christian and your content is inspiring. Watch you from Philippines.
That's awesome that the company you work for let's you work as a medical receptionist without becoming a M.A. first. I just recently got certified as a Medical Assistant, and noticed while I was filling out applications. All the medical receptionist office positions ask you to be a Certified as a M.A..... Love your videos💓 Just subscribed
Hi! As a doctor, love seeing you disinfect in the morning,, also part of my routine. Please wear some gloves because cavi wipes can irritate your hands long term 🤍
I can imagine insurance in a Dermatology office being more frustrating, as a lot of derm procedures are considered ‘elective’. I feel like insurance companies would take advantage of that, leaving billing for medically necessary procedures a nightmare.
Love the video! For perspective, I work for an insurance company (not health, but we work the same way) and we don’t feel like winners either. The entire system needs to be overhauled.
You are so good and so right with insurance companies, they each make 30 billion on revenue annually and keeps a chunk and only give some portions of it out for medical doctors.
Hi and I just came upon your channel. I work for an insurance company so that your in the medical field, that got my interest. And, when u mentioned insurance companies and so many plans. That’s so spot on, it’s a lot to figure out. But, as someone here mentioned. Have all of your patients sign the form that , “if insurance does not approve and pay for services, the patient is responsible to pay”. Especially, if they accept and have the treatments done. It’s only fair. And, I do understand the patient can be upset if plan won’t cover a service. It’s a lot to cover and change and make fair for all. Well, anyways great channel, thank you.
I worked for an ophthalmologist’s/Lasik office recently and just had to point out I recognize that Upneeq poster from anywhere haha. Loved the patients unfortunately I had to leave, had other goals.
I'm in Canada as a medical receptionist as well. Insurance here is different, we can bill through our portal on the computer, and it will either tell us that we ARE getting paid from them OR they say the patient has to pay and then will get reimbursed by the insurance company directly, OR the patient is just not covered for this service and has to pay anyway. If there is any discrepancy, the patient pays us and then takes it up with their insurance company. Also my Coworker is named Angela too 😂

I’ve been working in the medical field for 4 years and at the same Ophthalmology office for a year and a half and i’m still learning insurances. The medical field is so screwed up, it’s almost cheaper to be self pay.
Use availity for verifying insurances, uhc, cigna and Oscar have thier owns so they need separate registrations. Dermatology is extremely hard to work with as they keep on denying claims stating they were cosmetics and investigational. I understand your pain. That's why I work in cardiology.
💚biggest thing about insurances is literacy. Not everyone is going to understand what they are reading but that doesn't mean people can't make the time to do so. It's insurance, something people should understand that they will pay for the rest of their life so they should look into other options or have planners do that for them. Cash is everyones favorite asset and our lord and savior does not want us to convince ourselves we are less to understand the world we live in. God is about grace but also reality and there are problems every where in every place. But we can find ways to make it easier on ourselves. It's great to see you working in the financial side of the medical industry so you can learn more there because biggest thing about medical industry is the book keeping of invoices. Hope to see the knowledge you gain from this because I want to know more about medical insurance.
Girl! I work for a hospital in the billing department as a follow up and I have to deal with insurance policy all day! The system is crazy ugly for sure…
Such a great video! ❤️ I’m a PTA and all the ins and outs of Medicare and Medicaid drive me insane haha. And I also get to wear black scrubs to work. :)
I'm currently applying to office/clerical jobs but it doesn't seem as easy as it looks. When i see other people do it at doctors offices it looks easy. But obviously I know no job is easy. I had a job last year at a law firm doing clerical work but quit after three days. Now I'm doing another Clerical job at another place and I'm so nervous cuz this is my second chance and i don't wanna mess it up. If it gets too hard i just have push through can't give up
I had a nightmare scenario with my insurance. I got my wisdom teeth removed and filed through my dental insurance but for some reason it was rejected because it had to be filed through my medical provider first and then move to dental. It took like 4 months for it to get resolved.
Girl I have been trying to understand Insurance for years. Still don’t get it. Its so frustrating. A video about this would be a good idea if and when you understand it for yourself a little more.
The devotional was devoting, lol. Really spoke to me in this time that my husbands boss was horrible and just fired him, though we will be filing a discrimination case. But, in the mean time we were gladden to hear of her struggles because we are so upset with her and her treatment. But your devotional just reminded me that God will make a way for us. Better doors are going to open. I know it. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing the word. It helped me ❤ God is good. 👍 Also, i have zero experience in this field but theres a job opening that has training, is there anything i could familiarize myself with in the mean time? Anything would be so appreciated as i will have to be the provider for a while so i cant fail. Please and thank you for any tips and tricks or programs i could familiarize with. ❤
This is the first ever vid I have ever seen from you and I literally loved it keep up the good work and I’m gonna for sure subscribe bc I love your content and the god text don’t even get me started on that I love that text and is one of my favs bc I also study the Bible but anyways have a nice day or night or noon whenever your reading this :)
Another RUclipsr has a scrubs line! It’s Cloud 9 Scrubs. They have black scrubs, you should check them out! I’ve been following the founder Kristina for like 8 years lol
Im a treatment coordinator for a dental practice. I hate! Insurance. I despise it. We even pre auth treatments and it doesnt get paid because nothing is a guarantee of a payment unless they actually pay!!!!!!!!!! Wtf!!!!!!!!!! Pts get super upset that the ins didnt cover their treatments! Agggghhhh

Not everyone follows the same religion
Hey, I work as a medical receptionist in a Neurology Office. Insurance can be tough to learn, but it takes patience to learn all the information.
I worked as a medical receptionist for years. It is a busy job! We had a blurb on the bottom of our insurance form saying if insurance doesn't cover the full cost then they are responsible. What's the educational qualification
@@ishmam312 I didn’t go to school for it. I was trained on the job and was given more responsibility over time.

You are such a beautiful and sweet person 😊 and your mom is also beautiful! You are your moms twin!
Just got hired @ a derm clinic as a receptionist this is all so new ! Omg hopefully I get this down 🙏🏾

Good luck!
I’m new here. Love this video. I used to work at a GI a clinic, I had to verify insurance plans too. It was terrible.

Love that!
I am from Brazil, minding the health care is for free and you also can have your own “private” health insurance, when I moved to the US my biggest fear was to be involved in some sort of accident or get really sick and have to pay/be in debt because of the medical bills are beyond expensive. I 100% think that the health system in the US could change, along with other things, but to be honest I don’t think society is “ready” and the government takes advantage of it - unfortunately
I love your you tube channel! I’m probably twice your age but i so appreciate you speaking of church, sharing scripture and your faith. I love your monthly budget video-it helps me focus on living within a budget-i do not do a good job with budgeting. I enjoy work days and products review. I am a nurse and insurance is a real pain. I feel so bad for the elderly who get sucked into those managed care plans which are often difficult to get a patient’s care approved.
The only thing is struggle with is like soliciting sponsorships. I struggle to be a good steward financially and it is difficult for me to resist a item i find interesting especially if there is a coupon to entice a purchase. I admit this is my own weakness but i often have to skip forward or stop watching all the videos out there with codes to entice viewers to purchase.
I don’t want to be critical or offensive-I am admitting my own weakness.
I get what you mean ! I work for a health insurance and I get tons of calls of ppl getting bills because the claim was rejected lol most of the time because that provider does not accept the IPA (medical group that doctor is contracted with) it's a big headache!
Work life/adulting is soooo serious. You doing great 💕
It's nice to come for a walk 😅 that was super funny
The daily devotion 💯❤️🙌🏾
I reallyyy needed that reminder with the verse you shared at the start of the vlog 💕
now this help me at least to appreciate my first work as a HMO assistant.
I’ve tried to apply for Med. Receptionist at MULTIPLE practices in 2 STATES & ALL needed previous medical knowledge/experience/education. You are just lucky your mother is the owner!
The crazy thing is I’ve actually come to the conclusion that I do not hate my job, I actually enjoy my job, I just dread working in general but then when I have too much off time I’m bored 😂😂 I’m trying to find some kind of balance lol
Hahahha I love this.. I feel similarly 😅
This was so interesting! It’s so cool to see what an actual work day looks like. And agreed, our insurance system is the worst…. 😓
This is so interesting. I work as a dental assistant and hope to work in reception one day when I've had more experience 😅
Thank you for sharing the verse from your daily devotional 🙂
You are so welcome!

You are absolutely right about medical insurance. Every other country has it figured out besides us 😭

the worst!!
I’m studying office tech at a technical school , this is my dream to work in the medical field so hopefully I can do something like this !
Just noticed how toned your arms are looking! Really inspiring me to start working out consistently too.
when she shared a bible verse i had to instantly subscribe its so difficult to find open christian youtubers 😊❤️

Also, i have zero experience in this field but theres a job opening that has training, is there anything i could familiarize myself with in the mean time? Anything would be so appreciated as i will have to be the provider for a while so i cant fail. Please and thank you for any tips and tricks or programs i could familiarize with. ❤

I related to your insurance rant on a spiritual level, it is exhausting every single time
Your mom looks pretty beautiful and young. Can I ask her age. Her voice tone is also relaxing.
Thank you for keeping us company with your videos
Each time you mention your Stanley cup, I automatically think of hockey. I can't be the only one lol
Agggghhhh
that’s why i don’t believe in insurance! if you want to get something done, pay for it up front
OH HOW I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT WORD!!! Thank you so much.
