  • Short video about pruning our Coast Redwoods using our pole electric secateurs on our Bambra Agroforestry Farm. These are the Electrocoup handpiece fitted with a Maxi head (up to 65mm opening), The standard telescopic pole - expands to 3.5m (allows me to reach to 5.5m) but I have added 1m of extra carbon pole to reach 6.5.
Of course these are more expensive than hand tools (about AUS$3500 for the full kit).
I find that the pole secateurs are ideal for species that have geotropic growth like Redwood and Silky Oak. With the eucalypts and wattles I do what I can using the electric pruners then go back and climb any tree with acute or large branches that need hand tools. This saves a lot of time in climbing.
See our other videos on pruning eucalypts to see how we use hand tools.
