I have heard this 1,000 times - your version is “Great” wish you had some accompanying guitar/bass would knock my socks off ! Thanks much for your time in making this video!
Thanks John. I liked the way you kept your improvisation 'down the neck'. I thought you were gonna go straight up like everyone else, but you tricked me, and it sounded cool!
Woah! This is one of the very best version of this song that I've heard. I just love what you've done with it. Cheers! P.S. who signed your banjo? P.P.S. lol I actually liked the first ending. As far as I know this song doesn't have a proper ending like a lot of bluegrass tunes, it just kinda stops.
I think the majority of the folks who watch this wouldn't have known there was a mistake if you hadn't said anything hahaha. Superb picking either way. :)
Probably true. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so those little mistakes really irk me. Lol I'm loving the Dlive streams you're putting up. You guys sound great!
@@JohnMooreVlogs Aw thanks, that means a lot. We used to have a banjo player but he moved on to a new project, we're either going to find a new one or add a mandolin depending on who we can find.
Hey man that was good. I play a lot of Stanley style and you nailed it. Especially the part where you go off into your own single string and melodic stuff. Even tho I hate melodic playing, you nailed it haha. I made these shirts that I’m remaking because so many people keep asking for them. It just says “Melodic smalodic” I’ll send you one if you want. I really don’t hate melodic, it’s just a joke. But I only play melodic if I’m real drunk. Lol your friend, Billy Moore
Thanks! It's really easy to overdo the melodic and chromatic stuff. If you go too far off base, it's not the same song anymore. If you do make any more of those shirts, let me know. I'll give you a mailing address and I'll wear it in a video.
John Moore yeah man it sure is easy to overdo. I like a little thrown in very tastefully. But not a fan of melodic playing all the time. Especially if they don’t play any Scruggs style. Yeah I will print some up and send you one. I’ll message you when they are ready.
A great version of a favorite tune. Terrific picking. And I think I have a twin to your Earl Scruggs. May I ask what the serial number is? Mine's 0107 and sounds so much like yours.
