that's salted cod which is called Bacalhau which is probably the National dish of Portugal and features in loads of recipes! Glad this day went a bit more smoothly!
The fish is Baccalao. It means cod. Made in Norway. It is dried and salted on shore in the old days. Now it is inside with fans. As a joke you can say it was Norways first bank note. The fish is exported to all latin speaking countries, and many nations in Africa too. You make it with onions, garlic, potato, olive, tomato, basicly like a soup or pizza. Put in what ever you like. Lol!
I know Tavira and Tavira Island well. It's just adorable !!! I've been there many times !! Big hug K&N !!!! I love your videos !!! binge watching from the beginning! It is as they say; 3 K&N films a day keep the doctor away!
Guys loving the videos but you really seemed to miss out on Tavira. It's one of the most Beautiful places in the world. Please tell me you didn't just go to the beach.
It is normal with less clothes in european countries. Especially where it is warm. Bacalao is the national dish I think. They import the dried codfish from Norway mostly. The one you saw in the shop.
Hi Kara and Nate! I started to watch your channel a few weeks back and I'm loving it! I'm watching everything from the begining. :) I most say I already added a few places and experience to my travel list and bucket list. But as a Portuguese, I must defend my country honor. :) I'm not sure if you went back to Portugal since August to 2016, I hope you did and have a better experience. I'm sorry to tell you but you choose the worst month of visit Portugal, August is chaos, seriously. To get the Algarve at its best you need to go either in May or October, good weather and you won't get the crowds. As you love to eat, and especially traditional food, please don't go to Lisbon city center, probably one of the worst place to eat in Portugal, overcharged and too touristic. If you have time go to Alentejo, the food is amazing, and the North of the country is also great to eat amazing food. I think your experience with food in Algarve was a little better, but still needs so improvement. I'm so sad that you didn't get to taste the real Portuguese food, I was looking forward to see what you thought about the food and it kind of broke my heart. :( So, if you ever go back to Portugal and want some tips, let me know. And if you ever come to London, let me know as well, I live here now, and I would love to meet you in person. Sorry for the long comment. Travel safe. Silvia
Lol...well atleast y"all.made it to the beach, yeah for that going right...too many naked people creates a prob for vloggers I never even thought about...lol...good on u for not recording too much there :) and glad you had a good day...as always the vlog was great!! :) BIG HUGS FROM IDAHO! :)
Nate, you should take a trip to Denmark and try danish beaches, we have no clothing optional, its more like dress as it pleases you. But surious, i would love to hear your opinion about Denmark if you ever get the chance and please dont visit Copenhagen as most do, just visit Aarhus, its alot more friendly.
I love following your blog but I do have to say I’m incredibly disappointed with your Portugal ones. I don’t feel you guys really visited and saw Lisbon or any of the great areas in the Algarve. The fish you see in the grocery stores is salted card otherwise known as bacalhau, and Portugal‘s national dish. You guys also completely missed the mark on traditional Portuguese food but I guess that’s what happens when you don’t do research. Car rental from the Lisbon airport is notoriously horrific and a tip would be to rent one from the city. All beaches in Portugal are topless. Funny thing is it’s not the Portuguese people that are going topless but other European tourists. I hope you would give Portugal another try and maybe get some tips from some Portuguese people before you go
Spotty Camera returns!

+Mark Evans I believe it! We saw it everywhere!

My parent's basement smells like that grocery store. Good ole Salted Cod Fish aka Bacalhau. A steeple in every Portuguese house.
+Rui Reis haha that's what we hear!
Clothing optional beach!!! lol
All beaches are clothing optional in Portugal. lol
At least topless.
"Top-tional"
That's ridiculous
I can only imagine barrett's reaction after seeing his reaction when he walked in on a random woman nursing a baby in college. 😂😂😂
+Caroline Bailey sounds like a story we need to hear!
Short Vlog with a spotty camera, but enjoyable as ever :)
First time I realized sand doesn't have to be sticky was in Sitges, Spain. South Texas beach sand sticks everywhere. How is Portugal beach sand?
Depends. Fine, in most places.
Been a while yo, where them postcards at?
lol I'm secretly kinda hoping that Nate would run into Cristiano Ronaldo while in Portugal.
+Manny that would have made for an epic vlog!
ABSOLUTELY! :)
Ronaldo lives in Madrid
Are you guys heading back home after this or continuing on a rounds Europe? By the way nice vlog
+Camden Fujimoto we're planning to be in Europe through mid December!
the death fish is cod!
Ahh, I was wondering why the old camera was used. I thought it was because you didn't buy extra batteries when you bought the camera.
wait... why was is used? i missed that somehow.
@@evasmith6845 Watch the series in order again 😊
I think we all appreciate you chose not to vlog too much at the clothing optional beach...
repeating vlog?
I'm from Qatar
+Abdullah 2003 awesome! We hope to go there one day!
Things have changed in Sitges since I was there.
Dead fish is salted cod
What an American reaction to people nude on the beach 😂 We're not so conservative in Europe, chill out
Return of the dot... 🤭

+Anders Andersen we'd love to go to Denmark one day! Thanks for the suggestion!
There a black spot
