Great video! If you’re interested in the Goucher WAVES, Liza Mundy’s book Code Girls has information about a few more of them. As a Goucher alumna, it was fun seeing the name pop up when I read the book!
My great great great grandfather's company did the stonework on old Goucher. He was a leading citizen of Hampden. They wanted to name the area as Kellyville. He decline this honor and had them name it Hampden after a nearby estate. He was Martin Kelly.
I visited this building when The Gateway School, my soon-to-be school was in it (Didn’t know if you knew Gateway, The Hearing and Speech Agency used the space for some time) I may have climbed those exact stairs Grant’s Great, Great Aunt did! The Gateway School moved to Northwest Baltimore in 2003 and has been there ever since.
Kudos on creating this amazing video about the Goucher Hall and its incredible history - throughly enjoyed seeing it. I am also delighted to know about the transformative education at the Baltimore Lab School which is indeed impressive. I am thrilled to share that my grandmother Constance Maya Das (Dr Constance Premnath Dass) graduated from Goucher College in 1911 with a double major in Math and English and was awarded the phi beta kappa. She later headed Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow the first women's Christian College in South Asia. I am excited about my forthcoming visit to Goucher College on October 17th. This video has provided me with valuable information and insights.
My grandmother graduated from Goucher and that campus and I graduated from the Towson campus! Loved this.
What a great history!
We agree!
