"There isn't any particular relationship between the messages, except that the author has chosen them carefully, so that, when seen all at once, they produce an image of life that is beautiful and surprising and deep."
Ngl I LOVE the time travel metaphor for PTSD. It almost feels like a way you could find other people with PTSD yk? Just say, "I am a time traveler" because that's honestly what it feels like.
Never been in the military, but I’ve known plenty of veterans. I couldn’t agree more, it’s a beautifully simple metaphor. Ironically enough, the one vet I’ve met who has actually read this book as well, almost dodge that part entirely. Wish those guys had a better support system.
Kylan Dixon, audiobooks are all well and good, but you should read yourself for a better experience; applying your own voices, your own pauses, and your own style of speech to a character can change the entire book for the better.
reading this as a upcoming sophomore in high school, I could say that this book has everyone screwed over. now I see why I'm the only one who volunteered to read it.
A pleasant voice to listen to. Getting two classes done at once listening to this in the background of my studio work. Thanks for helping me keep up with these busy weeks!
Alright, said I wouldn't analyze, but I take it back - I wouldn't mind trying to chart out every time Billy changes time to see if there's a consistent trigger. (I also appreciate the dunking on free will last chapter. I was like, oh no, wait, are they going to spend a chapter talking about this? Nope! Acknowledged it, said no, moved on.)
Additionally - the soap/candle thing is, as far as I can tell from articles like Joachim Neander's in JSTOR, a myth (with a basis in a specific circumstance but not a widespread practice). Instead an article on the jewish virtual library alludes to "everything else" that's "worse" and I'm not able to read any further on that one today, sorry.
I do find it interesting about the repetition of the tennis teacher's future death in so many moments that he's alive. The Tralfamadorians said that, because someone once was alive, they still are alive (in the past). But Billy has jerked us to the completely opposite direction - because someone will die in the future, they are already dead.
WAIT 39 MINUTES, THE BABIES DIDN'T GET A "SO IT GOES"??? the DEAD WATER and the PRETEND COWBOY BEING SHOT got one, the bugs got one, but not the babies?????
Honestly I'm trying so hard not to Analyze because it's like trying to edit as you write something. Might as well, if it's something easy. But if it's complex you're wasting your time
No need ti “talk about” free will. Simply give attention to your own thoughts and where they “come from.” You will easily see they don’t “come from” anywhere or any “one.” You will see directly that you are being lived.
this... book... was fascinating... *nerd voice* but... I believe that my ears have died.... so it goes... but it really did make me laugh... im sorry but the randomness of Kurt Vonnegut has me on the floor LOLing
i’ve been listening to this with the playback speed on 2x to help me get through this for english

It’s a great description of the book itself

I read this book when I was about 11 for a school book report. I liked it then. I like it even more as an adult, so it goes.
Michael Richmond so it goes? Did someone die?
Somewhere, yes.

We're reading this at a high school in California. Because it's private, I guess we can get away with a lot.
I hope you like it!
If you ever go to Wyoming ask for Wild Bob.
Natalie Johnston We are reading it in public school in Texas. We read To Kill A Mockingbird too!
I read it in high school, and I went to a public school in Kentucky. Now I'm re-reading it to write a final paper over it in college.
