Hiking To The Top : Massive Indian Ruins

- Опубликовано: 27 апр 2021
- This was a fun and fantastic hike up the side of a mountain in search of a fabled Indian ruin that dates back to the Salado culture that "disappeared" some 500-700 years ago and no one is certain why they just abandoned their homes. It is speculated that a severe drought may have caused a collapse of their society.

I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure, metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my RUclips "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.

My thought (not that this will get read) is the wire “tripod” was a US Coast & Geodedic Survey survey point for triangulation. The wire was to support a rod upon which a light would be placed and the point “shot”at might. “Back in the day” this is the kind of thing I did with that U.S. Geological Survey.
Time to spend a few minutes with the best teacher I have ever had.
Those are not indian ruins. That spot was a defensive position, built by Spanish Explorers in the 1500's. It is well accounted for, in the account of the expedition that eventually discovered the Grand Canyon.
Thus we have, as related by Casteñada, the historian of the Coronado expedition, a brief outline of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, at that time called the Tison (Firebrand) River, which was discovered by Melchior Diaz and his company.
On their return Cardenas and his companions saw some water falling over a rock, and learned from the guides that some bunches of crystals which were hanging there were salt, of which they gathered a quantity and brought it back to Cibola, dividing it among those who were there. They gave a written report of the expedition to the commanding general.
I have to wonder what those settlements looked like in their hay-days
lacking hay i would guess
@@lal5555f Hay hay there! Dont be so sarcastic.
@@lal5555f Really? I assumed at least a few days of hay

Thanks for watching…. The Chigg
I want to see your brother a longer while. He looks pretty cool like you do!
Hey chigg hopefully you were able to see my last one I posted. I found 100 year old buttons from old miners camp
Your bitly link is 404
That was not an Indian ruin. It was a temporary outpost made by Spanish explorers .. Conquistadors..... to try to survive the onslaught of thd threat of an extended attack. They also had a cannon. There is a silver mine close by, that they were working. The walls were stacked quickly for defense and for temporary use. There was also water close by.
Fascinating to sit and imagine the Natives sitting with you 😱😱😱❤️❤️❤️
Chigg, you could never bore anyone I don't think. Love your content so much and I hope someday to go on an adventure with you!
Thanks for posting more lately. Love watching your videos before bed!
You have the COOLEST VIDOES I’ve ever seen in 61 years!!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF! Great how you respect everything!! GREAT JOB!!
I could spend hours walking around hypothesising what place are for. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming.
I have slipped on a cacti, thanks for reminding me! Love Arizona! Lived at the Grand Canyon for a year as a teenager and still miss it ! Great video from a fan in NY.
i was just at the grand canyon a couple weeks ago, lots of nice free camping all around it, unfortunately it was flooded with tourists escaping quarantine
One thing you could never be is boring! I was waiting for the whole wall to fall when you pulled out the pottery/rock😁. Another great adventure as always.
I loved the plants that looked like the forest. A beautiful example of the fractal geometry of nature.
Great Video and Very Interesting Chigg! You are also getting some serious exercise while you have been in AZ! Keep the Great Videos Coming!
Love the little forest, maybe little people vacation there! Great video! Amazing adventures!
Another day wandering in the mountains with the ancient ones. Thanks for taking us along.
Hey,Chigg love your channel, notice that dwellings are circular for their teepees and they probably had guns for those openings in the walls!Cheers!from Canada Ontario.
13:57- NEVER Bored! Really interesting and Thank You for taking us along.
Chigg, I wish you had a drone to really get a good overhead view of the settlement...that would have been cool! ✌🏼❤️
Love all of what you bring. Keep bringin Chig!
These hikes are so interesting! I would be blown away to actually stand amidst those ruins imagining the people and events that took place where I was standing. Thank you 🙏🏻
I had no idea Indians built such large structures. As a Brit it's a huge hole in my knowledge, must do some reading on their history...
Thanks for the journey!
Read the Book of Mormon. It is a history of the natives of North America. Amazing history.

I saw the musical, so maybe I _do_ know it :p
This series is GREAT!
That’s why I love my home state of Arizona the diversity and cultures of days past and the way the terrain changes throughout the state is geologically amazing congrats on your specs of gold would’ve liked to of seen them even if they were specs LOLThanks for sharing see you on the next one👊🏻👍🏻
Well it is 9:45 pm when I watch this video, thanks for keeping that saying true.... learn something new every day! Thanks so much for sharing.
Nice adventure, I had to pause it on the “alpine forest” I love those little spots you see when exploring. Great video!!
Dear Beau, I would just like to say a big thank you from a housebound (apart from work) middle aged Widow living in the now Communist Nazi State of Great Britain. Your videos take me away from this prison and show me places I would not be able to get to. It's wonderful to see a vast, free world outside this hellhole. These Arizona videos have been amazing and it's lovely to see your brother too. I love how you look in all the nooks and crannys for every little thing, I was like that when I used to go hiking to places. Maybe one day I'll get the chance to see a small part of your vast, beautiful country, but I won't hold my breath. 😂. I've been watching your new series of River Hunters, fascinating!! Once again, thanks for lifting my soul and showing me mother earth's wonders. Take care out there 😊👍
I love the old Indian settlements on top of the mountains
At 1:18 there is a concave rectangular rock in center and bottom of pic. Probably for grinding acorns. Watch at 1:15 as rock comes into view.
Wow what a great few videos these have been!! I love seeing this stuff. It’s amazing any of it is still stacked. So interesting! Enjoying it for sure!
Your wire tripod is from an old survey marker. See them all the time in NV and AZ.
I was waiting for you to say _"so they don't fall down"_ after you said *so they don't weeble and wobble.* Lol. Great video, love the Southwest videos!
I'm thinking those walls are fences for seasonal grazing of sheep and/or goats. Holes in walls are for fence rails. Implies to me pressure from predators or rustlers.
I agree !!
WOW Chiggs....so much beauty! And you found an awesome ferny fairy garden community😎😎
ahhHHHH...such a sweet adventure. Even better you found a miniature forest. I love re watching all your videos as each is always a new adventure.
Very interesting to see how they lived 500 or so years ago. Must have been a rough life. Thanks Chigg.
Ah the brothers exploring and camping must be fun most times 😂 hope it was fun for both🥂 👍
Thanks for the memories brother.
Love these vids! Thanks Chigg!
That's alota rock stackin!
I love this format the best - hiking around and pointing out various interesting features. Great job.
This is an amazing site. Love the work that was done so many years ago. Some of the areas look like they could have been a ceremonial round house.
Awesome place! Love these explorations & the history with them. So beautiful
Love this video... reminds me of myself over here in Britain walking around ruins trying to figure out what that was for and what this could have been... brilliant stuff.
What an awesome video. I think I can see two different kinds of work. Some even look megalithic. Very cool find. Love you the song too. Catchy..
Some aerial shots from a drone would be good to get an idea of the size of the settlement. Keep the videos coming 👍
Its not a settlement. It is a defensive position, built by Spanish explorers in the 1500's
Not bored! Not bored!
So interesting, and amazingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing and taking us with you!
Another awesome adventure!
And it's great to see your brother. You guys definitely resemble each other!
Nice perch for seeing all. Really enjoying this trip Beau. 👍
Chigg I love adventuring myself by day, and then adventuring at night through your videos!

Very nice exploring the Indian ruins. Would never have known about the ruins without your neat video! Educational! History and great views. Thanks enjoyed your video very much .!
Wow! That was interesting for sure!
The little holes in the walls are probably for platforms or walkways so they could look over the walls.

I really have enjoying your exploration and comments of the Southwest part of the country. Always amazing where and how early inhabitants lived in these areas. Keep the videos coming as long as you can.

And yes I thought that was a mini forest to lol I looked away then back and saw it and thought humm forest and was like oh man that's cool lol
AWESOME !!!!!!
Wow Beau, The imagination goes wild thinking about what went on in the daily lives of the original inhabitants of those ruins. That round rock formation may have been for sending smoke signals or even a place for a few braves or perhaps the women, to sit down in, to hold off any enemies trying to attack? I'm speculating. (*v*) on different possibilities. Glad your brother Pete is with you. I'm sure We All feel a lot better that you have company. : )
Very interesting. Love these kind of videos. Stay safe
Great hike chigg
Awesome!
Definitely looks like some kind of fortified position. Wonder how long that site, not necessarily the structure, has been in use? Very cool place, it never ceases to amaze me how much there is to be found out there in the wild places still. Very cool video.
This is so cool love it. Wish I could go see these places
Yay! More Arizona adventures
Awesome adventure

Enjoyed seeing these ruins
I'm so glad you make these videos I really want to go visit but if this is the closest I can get I'm satisfied.
Thank you stay safe and wish you the best of luck.
Amazing
The holes in the walls were likely for light and/or ventilation. Cool site.
Awesome adventure with your brother love the history of the day 👍🍺
Great video chigg
Love your videos chig your awesome
Hello Chig, been watching you for years. I really enjoyed these last videos on the Indian sites. I’m guessing you are in the Arizona mountains. I’ve have been roaming AZ for 30 years. I really enjoyed your exploration of this site. It appears to me that this site is a defensive structure. It could be a seasonal location. Depending on the weather. The sites I have researched are similar. The rock rings below the main structures are primary lookout, defensive positions. You noticed the walls running parallel going from lower to higher defensible positions. Many times I have found chips from making arrow heads within the rings. As you observed there were no artifacts or little evidence of habitation. Many of the tribes in AZ are nomadic. Changing locations with the seasons. It may be a place used for 100s of years and modified as needed. I didn’t notice a water source within the structures. At any rate what a great discovery. I enjoyed the video. 🤠
Wow 😳 that took a long time to stack them rocks plus picking them up to bring there
Brilliant videos Chigg really enjoying them, just discovered that you are on tv in river hunters, a lot of them in Scotland, just have to figure out how to access them.
I am absolutely enjoying this little Arizona adventure with you, I am still looking out for snakes, but not as much. LOL The ruins are so fascinating, makes you want to know more about these people. I suspect, even though these ruins are protective, over so many years they have been picked clean of surface artifacts. Not all people abide by rules, and regulations, and it's a shame. Can't wait til the next video. Happy hunting Chigg.
Glad you showed the quartz crystals there at the end, nice video
