Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles is an exciting action-adventure game based on the popular manga and anime series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Aniplex, the game allows players to immerse themselves in the world of Demon Slayer and relive the thrilling battles and epic story of the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado.
The game focuses on the main plot of the manga and follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a courageous young man who becomes a demon slayer after his family is brutally murdered and his sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. Determined to avenge his family and find a cure for Nezuko, Tanjiro joins the secret organization of demon slayers known as the Demon Slayer Corps.
In Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles, players take on the role of Tanjiro and engage in thrilling battles against demons throughout the story. Personally I give it a 7/10 if it was 20$ but at full price its refund worthy...
*review after buying the game as a big demon slayer fan* it's worth 20$, I feel ripped off at 45$ for sure and 90$ for the ultimate edition is completely unacceptable.
Graphics/ art design aesthetic is absolutely amazing.
The retelling of the story is mostly satisfying but it should have been done a little differently.
Boss battles are the peak of the gameplay.
Gameplay is ok. Jump force did a way better job at combat gameplay. This is Similar. But Characters say their catch phrases WAY too much it almost instantly becomes annoying. And some aspects of combat should have been refined.
The "level roam" is very disappointing. Character movement is bad during those segments BUT it was kind of nice seeing the anime for more than a few frames. They skipped the noodle eating scene, that was messed up...
Mini game was fun, classic formula but they could have used triggers for the gord test and did more with cups like have a pvp cup match maybe.
Unlockables aren't fun to unlock, cost too much.
Im surprised the game didn't offer more missions with the dlc characters.
Hope the sequel improves combat, Unlockable cost, adds more characters, somehow improves level roaming + design of levels or just makes it strictly a fighter with a lot of cutscenes.
*and above all, it would be phenomenal to get a demon slayer game with these graphics mixed with ghost of tsushima style open world with mmo Co op and pvp with a custom demon slayer or demon. Definitely has to have much better combat comparable to jump force though. And side activities. Anyway, BIG HOPES FOR PROJECT MUGEN... it could very well change the dynamic of mmo action games altogether especially for anime fans if they focus on custom created characters.*
