- My friend Brian (Argentinian Food Vlogger in China) came to visit DC! This time we went out in Rockville, Maryland, and we visited 六鼎记, a Cantonese restaurant that people have been recommending to me for a long time! I guess we both qualify as polyglots and speak 4 of the same languages, so we decided to go out in Rockville, i.e. the largest “Chinatown” in Washington, D.C. to make some friends. I’m not really sure what we qualify as? Latinos speaking Chinese? White guys speaking Chinese? In this video, we’re speaking Spanish, speaking Mandarin, speaking Cantonese, etc, and we had a great chat at the restaurant!
Going out with Brian is always hilariously humbling, but it was an absolute blast!
I love learning foreign languages because you get to meet and have conversations with people in a way that you probably never would otherwise. So, if you’re looking to learn Chinese or any other language, definitely do it!

@@simonrock8411 Probably another reason why she is not as phased. Plus, the idea of non-Chinese folks speaking Mando is not a crazy thing anymore.
@@simonrock8411 she speaks the way most cantonese speakers speak it, including me. cantonese and mandarin grammar don't translate 1:1. most native mandarin speakers can tell when someone is trying to translate cantonese into mandarin. it's exactly how my cantonese parents and grandmother speak mandarin too.

@@skibxskatic there is no such thing as a native mandarin speaker, mandarin is a man-made dialect that make to transparent different dialects. The thing is she move out of China pretty early so she cannot speak that well, young people in china all speak perfect mandarin.

Quiero disculparme con ustedes por lo que voy a decir pero me encanta ver a jovenes como ustedes aprendiendo idiomas que a casi nadie de los latinoamericanos les gusta, yo soy descendiente de cantoneses también, mis abuelos emigraron hacia América Latina en el año 1907 ya para estas alturas tenemos ya los 100 años de vivir en El Salvador, y menciono esto por lo siguiente, y es que habemos descendientes de cantoneses que a veces nos cuesta la pronunciación y ustedes lo hablan con tanta soltura que se ve inmediatamente que le pusieron empeño, que lindo gesto y que lindo que se interesen por aprender otros idiomas, son un ejemplo para los jovenes latinos. Felicidades.
Lo bueno es que eso está cambiando por suerte!

OK I'll be frank. There are tons of similar channels now but your contents are always the most enjoyable. People you talk to tend to sense your sincerity and respond so naturally it feels good just watching. Keep up the good works Chris!

¡Obvio! Necesitamos subtítulos en español. PD. Hay un detalle que es necesario saber. A Chris le interesa más que personas que viven en Estados Unidos y Europa Occidental vean sus vídeos porque RUclips le paga más. Y por cada visionado de personas que viven en Latinoamérica, RUclips le paga muy poco a Chris. Es por ese detalle que a Chris no le interesa tanto poner subtítulos en español a sus vídeos.

They can best "stay safe" by continuing to lead a normal , active, social life full of endorphin producing interactions with other human-beings as opposed to hiding away to "protect" themselves from a threat that presents no danger to someone in their demographic nor to anyone , really, other than the seriously, chronically ill and immune-suppressed who if they so choose may self -isolate for the viral season then emerge. Everyone else , live it up and that will serve as the most effective antidote for mild strains of virus and kill them off sooner rather than later. This mass hysteria had prolonged the life of this strain and possibly forced more destructive mutations..so sad that you fools can't read, much less , comprehend simple , straight-forward data and statistics

My mom is originally from Beijing but has been in the US for ages, she said that often she doesn't even notice whether she's speaking English or Chinese :)

My local Chinese restaurant the gentleman who owns it and i talk all the time he's from china im not sure where i really want to learn to speak so i can broaden my horizons. i already speak some thai with my mother in law but i have dumb tongue and get tongue tied very quickly she always gives me heck about it lol . anyway stay safe and thank you for your videos.

@@djmarsone5209 no funciona bien, porque cuando Chris habla en chino él mismo pone subtítulos en ingles en su vídeo, pero en ese momento los subtítulos de RUclips no capta lo que dicen (al español) , en cambio cuando Chris habla en inglés en ese momento si sale los subtítulos de RUclips al español...

Aunque dos años tarde, estoy de acuerdo con lo que dices. Entiendo el inglés, pero me parece, no se si es la palabra correcta: "lamentable" que dos latinos que dominen varios idiomas no apoyen a la comunidad de su idioma nativo, al menos con los subtítulos. Sabemos que saldrá cualquier loco diciendo: "Activa los subtítulos", pero sabemos que los subtítulos automáticos de RUclips son icomprensibles, y la mayoría de las veces erran en las palabras. El programa o algoritmo que genera esos subtítulos no entiende de contexto ni regionalismos.
