That’s why getting your home insured is very important. And if you’re going away during winter, make sure to have a trusted person go into your house to run the tap and let hot water drain for a good hour to prevent ice accumulation in the pipes.
Grabe Sir parang 2nd life na kitchen nyo. Di nmn kayo masyado heartbroken dahil you are a real trooper. Material things are not permanent, your house may be broken, but your family is safe and sound. Yun ang importante. Work harder and earn the dream kitchen you always wanted. You are an inspiration to us all. Think positive!
Im am so sorry about what happened to Panglasang Pinoy kitchen Chef Vanjo.. I’m glad you and your family are safe.. Hope insurance cover the cost.. And hope you recover soon from this tough times..🙏🏽 We are looking forward to seeing your cooking videos! Everything you shared, we appreciate, including travels etc. Thank you for always including us to your events!
One of the most important lessons I learned from a plumber when he fixed our leaking faucet: If you turn off your main water valve, turn on all of your faucets inside and outside the house before turning the main valve back on, so the sudden air pressure won’t cause the leakage, especially for old pipes. Turn on the main valve slowly (halfway) and let the air out from all the faucets as the water starts running. When you notice the sudden surge of water stops, turn off these faucets one by one, and continue to turn on the main water valve (depending on how strong you want the water pressure). It is good to have someone help you turn on and off the faucets. Best wishes to Panlasang Pinoy family!
It wont make a difference kung winter. Laging problema ang burst piping dahil sa frozen pipes sa mga lugar na harsh ang winter (Chicago is top on list). Nangyari na sa akin yan.
won't make a difference turning off the main water valve, since you still have water on the water lines. Then best thing to do is to leave the furnace to run at 60 degrees, do not turn off the electric since furnace runs with gas and electric. Open all vanity sink cabinets to let the flow of hot air onto the water pipes.
Sir Banjo, I could only imagine the stress and heartache it caused you and your family. The Panlasang Pinoy Kitchen is truly part of our memories while learning to cook your uploaded dishes. So sorry to hear about the damaged. My admiration on how cool and collected you are. This happened to my sister in Chicago few years ago. They were also away when they had a freezing temps. Thankfully for them their alarm went off so they were able to contact my niece who lived nearby and was able to call for help before the entire basement got flooded. Luckily the insurance covered the damages. Such a lesson learned for everyone, it was such an inconvenience for her & her family during the renovation process that from thereon, whenever we travel we have a designated friend(s) that will check on our house specially during winter or hurricane season just to make sure. We're here to support you.
SINCE YOU ARE STARTING ALL OVER, I would recommend to install an emergency shutoff valve from the main line coming to your house and then connect the shutoff valve to an electronic leak/water detector. This way, when water is detected, it automatically shuts off the valve. 👍👍👍
Dito talaga pumapasok yung 'lahat ng materyal na bagay may hanganan' pero more importantly safe, complete and unharmed ang pamilya nyo. God bless sir and babangon rin ang panlasang pinoy!
First and foremost glad you and your family are ok. Your positive attitude in the face of calamity is inspiring and I am sure you will be back on your Panlasang Pinoy Kitchen and sharing your wonderful recipes with us. Stay safe and God Bless!
That was a major disaster, Banjo. Burst pipes in the freezing winter is one of the worst things that could happen in your house. I just can't imagine how I would feel after having a great time in the Philippines and then I come home to see I have a flooded basement. That sucks, bro. There are several things that you have to do in your house when you are going to be away for several days during the wintertime, one of them is to keep heat in your house to at least 60 degrees. Anyway, you and your family are safe and that's the most important thing. I can't wait to see your new, remodeled basement and your Panlasang Pinoy kitchen. God Bless. 😊👍

As a form of support, looking forward At excited na ako sa bagong episode mo… Cheers🎆
Thank you for sharing your experience through challenging times. You’re going to get out of this adversity stronger and better this time. Oh damn I’m so sorry that happened to your house. I think it’s best to get a house sitter next time you decide to be away for a long time during winter months. Did you winterize your outdoor plumbing, etc though?
Sorry to hear what happened to your panlasang pinoy kitchen sir banjo…nakakapang hinayang daming mamahaling gamit ang nasira..kaya nyo nmn maibalik uli ang mga nasirang gamit ang importante lahat kyo ay ligtas….God bless you and your family..🙏🙏🙏
If you’re planning on escaping that frigid winter weather by going on vacation, good for you! Just make sure you prepare your home’s plumbing before you go so you don’t come home to any nasty surprises like burst pipes and property damage. Some of the best things you can do to prevent your pipes from freezing and bursting while you’re on vacation this winter include: Insulate Exposed Pipes Keep Cabinet Doors Open Winterize Your Hose Bibbs Drain and Shut Off the Water System Set Your Thermostat No Lower Than 55 Degrees Fahrenheit Have Someone Check on Your House Daily
So sorry this happened. We all hope for a generous recovery. By any chance were PEX pipes already installed when this happened? I'm not sure if this is allowed over there in Chicago, but this seems to be the most recommended pipe type for not having vulnerability of having pipes bursting during winter.
I watched your video going to the Philippines and now this. I am so sorry about what happened. I do hope and pray that you guys can recover from this and for sure you will.
We experienced a burst pipe when we went to NY on vacation. When we came back to Oxford, England. Our house was flooded, there was a burst pipe in the attic due to freezing condition. The ceiling collapsed, lots of our things got damaged. So, lessons learned, we make sure to put the heater on when away on vacation during winter. Hope all is well with you and your family.
Ama,ing how you handled the situation, Chef Vanjo. No wonder i haven't seen your videos (Panlasang Pinoy) for quite sometime, this was what happened. God Bless Always! 😊Stay Safe & Healthy too! See you soon Brand New Panlasang Pinoy Kitchen!
I admire your resiience. So inspiring! I wish you the best in this new chapter. Salute!
Same here in Minnesota!!! 😢
God Bless. 😊👍
😢😢😢😢😢😢y😢 sorry to what happened to ur kitchen while on vacation here in our country . But I sincerely admire ur calm reaction about it . Hopely everything will be ok in urkitchen w/c we always loved to watched ur cooking videos ! God bless u Chef Vanjo n ur family
As a form of support, looking forward At excited na ako sa bagong episode mo… Cheers🎆
Pag may nawawala may darating na panibagong biyaya just trust ...🙏❤️
Very inspirational Chef Vanjo! The video showed your composure and faith. You resembled a lot of my brethren po. I wonder, which church do you go po?

Thank you for sharing your experience through challenging times. You’re going to get out of this adversity stronger and better this time.
The good news is… You’re going to be have better kitchen next time. And your whole family is safe and sound. Having a positive attitude helps a lot during difficult times.
Take care. 🙏🏼⚡️
Some of the best things you can do to prevent your pipes from freezing and bursting while you’re on vacation this winter include:
Insulate Exposed Pipes
Keep Cabinet Doors Open
Winterize Your Hose Bibbs
Drain and Shut Off the Water System
Set Your Thermostat No Lower Than 55 Degrees Fahrenheit
Have Someone Check on Your House Daily
Hard to believe none of these were done?
Wow amazing experience
But God is always Good
Sir watching frome kuwait 🇰🇼
God blessed you 🙏and your Family 🙏
So sorry this happened. We all hope for a generous recovery.
By any chance were PEX pipes already installed when this happened? I'm not sure if this is allowed over there in Chicago, but this seems to be the most recommended pipe type for not having vulnerability of having pipes bursting during winter.
Salamat Panlasang Pinoy for sharing with us your travel adventures.... 🌷🌷🌷
Hope all is well with you and your family.
very humble. good luck and best to all your undertakings

It s important to let your faucet, turn on a little bit during winter and let rhe water drip so your pipe don't burst. Good luck hope you continue your show. I enjoy watching it.
