So, i do this for a living in New York. My business does basketball, tennis, tracks etc this will be my 13 year going. You said you do two coats of the color? There is no way that 2 coats is enough or covers well without squeegee marks. We do two coats of black with sand, one coat of color with sand and 3 coats of color no sand. If you have any questions you can email me. I’ve done 42 public school playgrounds in last 3 years. Also ur second squeegee guy needs to start higher up to take what first guy leaves behind. I seen a lot of patches of paint left. Just some info. Trying to help.
Hey Phil, I have small area in our backyard and we are looking to do that ourself for a half court for the kids. Its this something that is doable from non professional. We are in CA.Your feedback is appreciate it.
Rafael Gonzalez it’s definitely doable. Once you mark out what area you want done you need to do two coats of asphalt resurfacer which contains water and sand. This will make the area completely smooth for when you have to start adding the lines. After you put the black resurfacer down then u mark out your half court area (the key, foul line, three point line etc). Then you will need to put 2-3 coats of whatever color you are going for. I’m not sure where you would find the color or resurfacer out in ca but your best bet is to look up a company called sealmaster. They will be able to order you everything you need. Now remember the black resurfacer that you are putting down isn’t sealcoat it’s made for what your plan is. If you can locate a sealmaster near you then you will be fine. And if they aren’t near you they can deliver. If you get confused on what steps to take on how to measure the court etc just look it up on you tube. I’ve seen a lot of great instructional videos. Hope this helps. Side note. I just googled sealmaster in ca and there are a few located there which is great.
