My mom was diagnosed with AIDS in 2001. The doctor asked me if I had a good relationship with my dad 😔.
She has been on meds all these years and she is healthy. She has over 600 T-cells and her viral load is undetectable. They used to check her blood every month but she is doing so well they said she only has to get her blood checked twice a year!!! Thank God for her health. 🙏🏼

the virus can't mutate around the immunity mutation. the mutation is that a select few people are born with out CCR5 gene compound in there immune cells. without CCR5 it is impossible for the hiv virus to infect the cell because it's primary and only infectant vp24 needs CCR5 in order to replicate. without it the virus can't infect the cell

+AsapSCIENCE Hi AsapSCIENCE I heard in a talk that scientists DO NOT actually know the mechanism of action for PrEP all they know is that it does decrease the chances of getting HIV but knowing how or its mechanism of action is still under research.
+AsapSCIENCE Great video, but condoms doesn't help a lot to protect against HIV/AIDS, because the virus is so small, that they can pass through the almost equally small pores in the condoms, so I wouldn't recommend it; but it is true that is better than nothing, also prevents for having unwanted pregnancies.

I had my hiv and aids class today and this really help me understand even more even though this vid is three years old.

Because I can't go to Google and ask these questions I'm going to ask them here and hopefully the right person comes along and can answer them and if they can't answer them I have my own answers as well. My first question is where is the virus when it infects a person body, is it directly in the cells or is it floating around your immune system? My other question, is if a person is on antiviral HIV medicine, and the medicine stops it from entering human cells and replicating how come the virus does not just die off, when the white blood cells have a lifespan of 13.2 days, how come the virus doesn't die off or while a person is on antiviral medicine? My theory to how to solve the problem is, is if the virus is still floating around, maybe it's possible that we take that virus because, it cannot replicate itself, study it take what information we need of it to make a messenger RNA to targeted it so that the body could recognize it and destroy it.

It would be great if you did another video about HIV myths about transmission. I also miss a mention of PEP and the fact that HIV+ people can live normally and not even trasmit the desease if treated with PEP. There are also new studies about HIV vaccines. It would be really great if you guys did this, because I think it would contribute to overcoming stereotypes and stigmatisation of HIV+ people.
