Did you ever film the finale of this GTX 280 series of videos? I can’t find anything. Did the new thermal compound do the trick? I’ve never found those blower style fans to be very good, the cards always run hot and noisy and I’ve had no end of problems with cards of that (and similar) generation and Windows 10, they work with Windows 7 much better.
Oops I thought I did - I still have the card and it is working - the problem was not heatsink compound or overheating, it was exactly what you just mentioned - Windows 10 does not like cards of this generation - I tried it with Windows 7 and it works fine This may end up in a Windows XP retro gaming rig I am putting together so you may well see it again.
17:26 - Tap the Windoze key, then tap u, and then u a second time to shut down. For the newer micro$oft operating systems: hold down the Windoze key and tap x, release both keys, then tap u to shut down.
hello buddy can a burn cap that spark and damage the pad and it show now the copper of the first layer on the pcb on the graphics card be fix tu in advace
16:54 - you have some pins in the graphics cable not connected. 18:28 - nope. Communication between the windows graphic driver and the card is faulty. Refresh rate possibly?
I think error 43 and artifact related to memory faulty. Run test software using nvidia mats mods. To find which memory bank error. But i dont know if this software supported old nvidia gpu. At least you can try it I have fixed artifacting palit gtx 285 that i have from my friend. He says its artifacting and weird random color. And because i dont have good power supply at that time i dont test it. I dont know if its reporting error 43 etc. I just assume this is memory related ic. Then i reflow every memory bank. 1 week later i have proper psu and test it. Its work great without artifacting. Eventough it still have problem with analog signal (vga conector) Its missing green analog signal. And i confirmed it when probing at green conector pin it doesnt have any voltage. But i dont know whic component that responsible for analog signal color. Hdmi and other digital signal works great btw. And i even stress test it with no problem
I did solve the error 43 it seems this GPU does not like working on Windows 10 but it worked fine when i tried it on Windows 7 Is the missing green only affecting VGA? Did you try DVI?
@@LearnElectronicsRepairthis gtx285 only have 2xDVI-I conector. so i use pasive converter (dvi-i to vga) I test the connection every pin in the converter, seems have good contact. Also Monitor working fine in other pc. Test with other dvi port. Still same result. Then i probe the dvi pin solder join. There is no voltage at (green analog signal) pin. The other pin like (blue analog signal) have voltage. I test on both dvi and same result. But on (dvi-hdmi converter) is working fine since it use digital signal
HI I Had a similar Problem with my Nvidia GTX260, lines on the screen and would only work via VGA, load the driver would not load windows, like you tried various things,. under the microscope i could see dry joints on the negative power connecters, re-soldered the joints, all though they checked out with the multi meter, under load still did not work, soldered a wire across the negatives, card now working with relevant drivers installed, hope this helps
@@LearnElectronicsRepair Yes i do mean the 0v rail, my card has 2 6pin connectors and in both cases the centre 0v pins failed on the board under load. hence the solder links.
@@lambert0259 Hi Peter that sounds like a very good repair - well spotted! It's just goes to show how stupid little things like that can cause seemingly unrelated problems! Well done

Heya, love to see thses follow up video's great work
Windows update were updating the drivers for that card.

Hello Sir, you should try using SSD, they boot 10x faster than HDDs, would save you some time, especially if you need to restart PC a lot.
First was corrosion, dusty and heatsink compound, then the graphic card driver problem.

Thanks for sharing. When you say 'negative power connectors' do you mean the ground, 0V connecors (black wires?)
