Dear Phil, I didn’t know I needed this video.. until I watched it. Thank you much. I bought my Denon Prime 4 back in February 2020, but I learned so much from your tutorial.

Watching now & looking forward for this. Had lots of time practicing since I bought mine in January & now uploading to Mixcloud & just started livestreaming. Always nice to see Denon Prime 4 vids 👍
@@digitaldjtips So far, I have discovered the moving of the loop by pressing shift & your great tips on the fx - esp the flanger sounding much better on 8 beats & how to improve the echo by turning to higher frequencies. Half way through & discovered new things! Cheers Phil 🍻🍻😎😎👍👍
@@digitaldjtips I had a Pioneer XDJ-RX which was great but recently changed to Prime 4. Like most DJ's in 2020 I started live streaming sets and followed one of your other instruction videos and purchased TRS to TRRS adaptor which worked perfectly - but it doesn't on the Prime 4 - I get ambient room sound. On the Prime 4 Owners page on FB it was recommended I get an irig and rca to 1/4 inch jack cable. I tried this attached to the Unbalanced RCA Outputs on the Prime but get low volume - have to turn up master really loud which isn't ideal - so moved my speakers over to booth. But still, the stream sound is average in quality. Any suggestions?!
Thank you for the great video. I took a 15-year hiatus from DJing, bought one of these things a few weeks ago, and I'm just blown away by what I can do. I learned a ton of little bits from this video that I wasn't able to pick up in the manual, so many thanks! One thing you didn't cover that I'm curious about is how or whether I can save hot cues and similar for tracks from streaming services?
Right on. I been spinning vinyl since 1988. I got sl3 when it came out as I prefer vinyl feel. My kids want to learn to dj but the vinyl intimidates them. So I did some research and decided to get this controller. It intimidated me. Lol I had a lot of questions. This video helped me figure out a lot of my questions and now I’m looking forward to going and playing with it and hopefully more effectively teach my kids.
I love your Tutorials , coming from the 90's generation on vinyl, then having kids cramping my style through th CDJ days, I really was petrified of moving to a controller, I've watched the RX XZ and Prime and borrowed a couple, now and thanks to these most compprehensive videos, I am confident enough to get back in the game 🤣. Take a bow Phil 👊 trouble is choosing which religion to buy into 😬
Brilliant tutorial Phil I've learnt so much from this🙂I love the Denon Prime 4...Dad brought the Ltd white one which is super cool...the Prime Go is brilliant too and a lot of things are the same...DJ L.I.AM
Thanks for this RAD manual! The one thing I wish for on the Denon Prime 4 is a pad/LED brightness setting - the lights on the machine - other than the screen (which could be dimmer) are way too bright.
The streaming filtering needs some tweaking, you can search by artist for example but you cant see or sort by release date. also, if you swap between streamed and usb stick music, the player loses the 'played tracks' colour change on the streamed service, so you can mistakenly play the same streamed track twice. I got my prime 4 a few weeks ago and love it, it's brought my playing along a great deal and has some great features. Good walk thru by the way, thanks.
Quality video as always Phil, two things I’m struggling to understand are if there’s anyway to stop your hot cues automatically playing when you select them? and if the sync button will work with two different Bpm’s for example when I try to sync a 175bpm track with a 87bpm track instead of changing the 175 to 174 it’ll change the bpm to 87. Cheers in advance for your help , this videos helped a lot
The standalone controllers and Cdjs buffer the tracks into their internal RAM to play smoothly, it does not directly play through the USB. So whenever you load a track, it immediately grabs it from the USB into its internal RAM and then does not need the USB. Thats also how DJ software functiion on the computer. What would truly be amazing is when you can access yr library and load ANOtHER track without USB plugged in.
Scratch is harmless enough. It's just a gate but instead of losing the track it adds the effect of pulling the record back which is the first step of scratching. Done in time once or twice can add a little colour. It's a wee bit like censor.
Thank you for your tutorial video. I was amazed by the DJ that operate the dj controller. Boy look at how far it’s come now ! Now the current state of the Fx and updates is night and day from back when it was new. I sold mine back then it just wasn’t for me. Now I have the plus …
Great Video. During the looping discussion. Billy Jean MJ has an 8 count in. I usually will loop 5,6,7,8 for a four count loop. Makes it easy for getting in to any song. With an exit of something very recognizable. But later in the song I want to RE-loop that same 4 which should be only exited and still callable. How do you bounce back into the Loop again? Because pressing the loop in/out again just starts me another loop.
@@digitaldjtips Unless its a function in one of the pad keys. It has to be there. I learned that trick on a Denon 2500s 30 years ago. They couldn't have got rid of it. Its just hidden somewhere.
Really appreciated, this is great work! Quick question: it seems there's no way to change the declared tempo other than x2 or 1/2, correct? (I mean using Engine OS, directly on the Prime 4 - I am using Engine DJ off-line/on the PC to do finer changes to tempo, I understand that part.) (Speaking of which, I seem to hit some weird glitch or possibly bug there, am in touch with support, some tracks no issue, but other tracks act strangely and change the tempo before an anchor as soon as it's dropped. Just mentioning in case that rings any bells and anyone has helpful input there as well.)
Hi Phil just bought this amazing piece of kit, upgraded from Traktor Kontrol S4 mk2 and having heaps of fun- really missing the Flux mode looping though! Does the Prime 4 have anything similar? Cheers legend
Phil, a silly question: I just purchased the Denon DJ Prime 4, and I was wondering if it has an "automix" function burried in somewhere, where I could load a playlist on 2 decks and then songs will play automatically and alternatively from the first and second deck, similar to what you can do with DJ Pro Ai (and all their other software versions) from Algoriddim. I only saw the "continuous" function, where you can keep playing songs from a playlist, but no auto-mixing function. Thank you!
Phil how are you doing, I am totally blind DJ and I love your videos, I have one question with the prime for, do you have to use the touchscreen, to navigate to your folders and select your tracks, or is there a knob.
