Thank you for being so generous with your hair knowledge. I always run over to your channel for a refresh of my knowledge before doing a toning sesh. Sending vibes from LA!
@@theworldofcraig seriously it’s much appreciated! Question, should I use it on damp or dry hair? I hear people doing both and secondly should I stick with Redken 7vol processing solution or can I use 20vol of a different brand instead?
@@VictoriaAmodeoI would always use it on dry hair…and never mix it with anything other than the Processing Solution - there are videos that cover both your questions here on my channel.
Nobody seems to know how to tone my hair to a cool blonde. It's either grey, silver, purple, muddy brown... I think I'm going to just do it myself. It's a level 9/10
Hi Kimmy, thanks for watching. Sorry to hear that - the formula in the video could be helpful…I will say it works best (as I demo) on a level 10. It might not have enough tone to “cool” down a level 9. Good luck with it
@@theworldofcraig Hi again! So I just went and got some product. What do you think of this formula. I'm worried about my hair turning purple or muddy. Shades EQ: 9V 9P 9GI Clear 000 and Processing solution. I got the purple Malibu treatment packet to do first. I just want my hair bright.
@@kimmycoco-50518 Hi Kimmy. It’s impossible for me to be specific when I’m not there and can’t see your hair (been there done that, not doing it again) but I will say, the P’s are VERY powerful. I would start off with a OO/9P mix…maybe add a little GI. Good luck!
Hi Craig. Does toner last longer on fresh highlights vs. older highlights? I have retoned in past with shades EQ but it fades after like 3 washes. Maybe because I put 9V on for only 5-10 min. Would it last longer if I diluted it 3:1 clear to 9V and left it on longer like 20 min (instead of straight 9V for less time.). Thank you.
Hi Wendy. It depends on many factors - but you’ve answered your own question…go you! I have a few videos here on my channel (there are many actually) where I go into how to get the best from SEQG. The brands line on (very generally…so many factors) how long it lasts - “20 mins processing on dry hair, up to 25 washes”. The majority of folks use it on damp hair for 5 mins and it just doesn’t last. 90% of the results you see here on my channel are following the guidelines, it really makes a difference. Clear is the way to go for you. Please do have a scroll through my channel, I think you’ll find the other videos helpful.
I’m trying this tomorrow!,,,, you saved me 💰💵 which would have 💸 at the salon and not have it done right! I bleached my hair and it was yellow but didn’t know about diluted formula and leaving it shorter as my hair was porous; my hair turned purple so I chopped it all off! I have some toners in the 10 series (10T, 10P & 10VV - my friend gave them to me :) )...Can I use the 10VV instead of the 9V? (Would I still need to use clear with the 10VV or just do a 1:1 ratio with processing solution?) My daughter's hair is at a level 9 1/2, not quite a 10 - there's still a slight yellow undertone. - thanks in advance, wither you answer my question back or not :) I love all of your videos
Hi Jessica, thanks for watching. 10VV has double the amount of violet than 9V - hence the VV. You could use it instead of 9V but in order that the result doesn’t read as lilac, (I only ever use 10VV in small amounts in other formulas) you’d need to mix it with Clear - and in my opinion 9V would most likely be best for a level 9 1/2, as using a formula above the level of lift never really gives you the best results. Good luck with it.
Would the formula with crystal clear be let’s say 1 oz of 9v + 3 oz of crystal clear + 4 oz developer? For the formula to be 3 parts clear and 1 part 9v?
@MaxRyan777 No problem. Not so much - and in the case of the V’s or VV’s, they have no tan/brown background - so they are pure violet. That’s why 2 lots of violet, VV, often “reads” as violet in the result.
They are formulated for a level 10 canvas - which in my opinion is always needed for an “icy” result. There’s loads more information on the “why’s” of creating blonde formulas in my more recent toning videos here on my channel - they are all in a playlist. Thanks for watching.
Hi. There are many, many videos with formula examples here on my channel…but it’s really about the canvas it goes onto tbh. I wouldn’t use any GI in an icy formula and there would be Clear. I can’t give specific formula advice remotely, there’s just too much to it.
Hi there, thanks for watching. I would suggest getting them to shampoo their hair with warmer water and perhaps use a clarifying shampoo - you could try one of the Malibu deep cleansing treatments too.

Is a shower cap to cover the hair acceptable, vs plastic rap or a clear cap?
Is it a thing to put a cap on over foil sheets?

Would the formula with crystal clear be let’s say
1 oz of 9v + 3 oz of crystal clear + 4 oz developer? For the formula to be 3 parts clear and 1 part 9v?
That’s exactly it. I always weigh colour…as SEQG is quite viscus you end up leaving product in measuring cups etc.
My question is : do i use crystal clear 000 o i use processing solution? Tkanks
Thank you so much, this really helped ❤
Is the 3 parts 1.15 oz Or 3 oz ?
So glad it helped - thanks for watching.
They are ratio measurements. For example - 1:3 = 1 part one shade + 3 parts of another + an equal amount of Processing Solution.
@@theworldofcraig thank you so much 😊
TY! Would 10VV mixed equal parts processor, have similar results as the 9v + Clear?
You’re most welcome. No - the VV’s have double the violet, I only really ever use them as a mix tone or with other shades….the are very violet.
@@theworldofcraig OK thanks so much. I really appreciate it. But the 10 series in general is more of a deluded version of nine right? Or am I wrong?

Yes, Shades EQ Gloss is always mixed with its own processing solution - there’s a video here on my channel about it.

Hi there, thanks for watching. I would suggest getting them to shampoo their hair with warmer water and perhaps use a clarifying shampoo - you could try one of the Malibu deep cleansing treatments too.
…just to add - I wouldn’t do anything in terms of lifting it and I’m afraid it’s not possible to tone it to be lighter, it has to fade
