  • @vdve3

    Yes, desire, anger and confusion types. This is the approach one would have in life on prima vista. Therefore different types would have a natural attraction toward different type of teachings which Buddha gave. The essence of all three is the same and it is liberating and enlightining

    "practically the important thing for us all to do is to lower the population in the ghettos and the poor parts of the world. this is the real expression of kindness in the world today." what? :D wow i really wish he had elaborated on that a bit. by itself it makes me raise more than an eyebrow. completely regardless of all other things he says.

    • @02sweden
      @02sweden Год назад +1

      To me, that would be, raising the quality of living of the people in the ghettos end poor areas, (means helping, share benefits, healthcare , education and so on. The people then in the poor areas decreas.

      One thing is for sure is that he is free man and can say whatever he wants. Same for you, you can think and say whatever you want. It's okay to be concerned and like Buddha himself said, don't believe in one word just because Buddha said it, check it all with your own experience, be your own guiding light ;)

    well this question has come up for 30 years. Its interesting. The answer that best satisfies me is that Karmpa says he is. Also Sharmar Rinpoche. And a host of others highly credible Lamas. And personally I have learned a great deal from Ole.
    The real question is whether he is a teacher for a particular individual. Thats a personal choice best based on some personal experience.
    theres a bunch of documents out there - just google Ole Nydahl documents

    A certain Chinese Zen master said to monks: " Seek an understanding of live words. Don't seek understanding of dead words. If you attain an understanding of alive words, then you never forget them. If you only understand dead words you cannot save neither others nor yourself. "
    Other master said: " There are Sun, moon and stars on a sky. But a blind man does not see Sun, moon and stars. "

  • @kagyu1

    There are different schools influenced by different cultures. People are mentally disturbed by concepts . For this reason taught many methods and there are many teachers . For some the freedom of Tibetan Buddhism doesn't work . The rigidity of Japanese style may be more beneficial . The direct experience of the Sakya, Nyigma and Kagyu school may not work . The Intellectual Gelugpa path may work. Who ever is mentally disturbed by Buddhist teachings or teachers has an opportunity to work with their mental attachments .

(i'm sure you wanted to say "... doesn't make any sense.")

    Depend on the teachings not on the teacher.

    Depend on the depth, not on the surface.
    Depend on wisdom , not on concepts.

      kagyu1 In Diamondway the teacher is actually more important.

    • @kagyu1
      @kagyu1 7 лет назад +4

      That's a direct quote from Shamar Rinpoche, Kagyu regent and lineage holder, sublime teacher of the Vajrayana aka Diamond Way. He was always leery of the cult like attitude of some western students mistaking devotion for fanaticism He told us all that blessings from a teacher will not bring us to enlightenment, we have to work at it ourselves. It's both because you have to "trust the better of two teachers"... your self. Even Ole teaches to "be your own guiding lights".
      www.dhagpo.org/en/index.php/multimedia/teachings/208-yidams-the-source-of-accomplishments

    • @LamiNalchor
      @LamiNalchor 7 лет назад +4

      It is very clear that people have to work themselves, and that enlightenment can not be achieved without private effort. Lamas often give teachings on different levels. A good example is that Sharmar Rinpoche is said to be an emanation of Öpame and Karmapa of Chenresig. Which is Mahayana level. Whereas on the diamondway level a lama embodies all buddhas. Same here. One should not judge the type of devotion of individuals. Devotion to the teacher however is vital. If you take a look at the Kharma Kagyu lineage, you will notice that the most amazing and astonishing man were those who showed the highest devotion and trust in their theacher.

    “Until we have one western student who can achieve rainbow body, or at the least pass away consciously in samadhi exhibiting all the signs of accomplishment, Buddhism will superficially proliferate but not take deep root in the West” - A well known Tibetan Rinpoche 😂

      May I ask what your point of intention was of sharing this quote? :)

    • @HEMA-NRW
      @HEMA-NRW 4 месяца назад

      No religion can have its roots in the West anymore, apart from immigrants ... the times of religiosity are over. If you wanted to achieve roots, there would have to be a connection, i.e. a fusion of the religion that the people developed in a country, with, for example, the Buddhism. Everything else never achieves deep roots, because the essence of Buddhism, its liturgy and gods, etc. does not correspond to the essence of the people in the West. Without roots it could even have a negative effect... like Christianity in the past or Islam, neither of them belong to Europe, don't have their roots in Europe

      No teacher ever says. At least none that I have never met. Personally I would never enter into that debate with myself (for which there is no real answer) regarding a clip on the internet. I would look at a video like this and simply see if it opens any doors within oneself. If yes, then perhaps look a little deeper. If not, then don't give up and keep looking for something that fits and that one can work with. At least thats what I think. cheers.

    • @lukasdohnal1229
      @lukasdohnal1229 8 лет назад

      +freeflymike That sucks. One would expect a buddha to perhaps want to help other beings who want to learn. So it would be cool to tell, since we cannot recognized shit if we are not buddhas, right?
      I know that it does not actually have any value objectively, because even a fraud could say and we couldnt tell difference. .. But buddha would probably be able to say it convincingly enough to convince a person. And if buddha himself knows that this "manipulation" (convincing someone to follow him by telling him he is a buddha) would be for the betterment of the person (because buddha knows that he is buddha and thus that it is safe and right to convince someone about it), then why doesnt he tell others? Why are unawakened, unenlightened beings left to figure it out with 0 reliable clues on their own? Its like russian roulette.

    • @lukasdohnal1229
      @lukasdohnal1229 8 лет назад

      Indeed. Which makes looking for a buddha (teacher) pointless. Either youre almost there and so you dont really need him, or youre not almost there, and so youre unable to recognize a buddha, which means youre playing "spiritual" russian roulette.

    I am not a fundamentalist practitioner, neither extremist or only one view dharma follower. I practice many schools and traditions although I am a simple apprentice I think I have been guided by solid teachings who follows foundations given by deep, wise and real teachers. So listening to him makes me feel frustrated and upset that he cheat people. Ole is not a true Lama who never did a Three-year retreat; his "teachings" only confuse the people. Saying that Nyingma is the people with anger tendency who practice Dzogchen and Mahamudra the "touching each other people" Karma Kagyu people is just bias, stupid, distorted, fake and foul teachings full of prejudice. He distorts completely the true teachings. He is famous for having sexual intercourse with female students but only for sex and lust and not for a real tantric reason. He wants to involve people into his sect, which is an anti-communist, and anti-Muslim sect and which he delivers around the world with hatred discourses. He has criticized His Holiness Dalai Lama many times. Besides saying that the westerns are the finest students are RACIST, PREJUDICE AND FASCIST statements. The majority of his followers are westerners and people of high class. His retreats are noisy. FAKE TEACHER.
