- JNU Students Union President Kanhaiya Kumar delivered a Azaadi speech addressing gathered at JNU Campus he said that what the students wanted was freedom in India, not freedom from India. In his home coming speech, Kanhaiya took on the BJP government, PM Modi, HRD Minister Smriti Irani saying that the university and its students were targeted because they took on the government through Occupy UGC movement and demanded justice for HCU student Rohith Vemula.

I am proud JNUite and will fight for its honor! JNU is place for great debate and intellectual interactions - does not matter how controversial topic is! But JNU should not be place for anti-national "narebazi" sloganeering, which represents fascism! Lets debate your idea - let be it against the nation, but debate it, but do not shout slogans! I had participated many debates in hostels - Kaveri, Ganga, Sabarmati, Godavari - messes on many topics and ideas - that's the great JNU is! But at same time, I had witnessed pro-pak slogans during Indo-Pak matches, had many debates on it during dinners in Kaveri hostel. I can not understand and logic of some misguided students of living and studying in the nation's best institution and supporting Pakistan at the cost our beloved India! I advised, and advise if there are still those types of misguided students in campus, to watch the match in their rooms and shout as much they want, but not in a public place, like hostel TV room - I would stand and fight for nation's honor, and if need would debate for it, but never tolerate any anti-national activities or slogans against India! India may not be perfect, society may not be perfect, government may not be perfect - but that's we are for, and that should be our responsibility, we should make it better! Anyway, Kanhaiya - speech is good, but could be better for a President of JNU, the JNU intellectualism is missing, only one sided - no solution or alternative, again just sloganeering! Many previous JNUSU presidents have similar speeches, but see where there now - any thing has changed - nothing! Remember - you can only give this "azadi" speech in India & JNU only! That's because of this great country! Also if you have developed some thinking - give some credit to government that you can speak such a manner! Please focus on studies, develop ideas and let them mature - do not be misguided by praises of some selfish politicians, who have disappointed this great nation immensely! Take care..

1- why they are shouting azadi slogans in the same tune but with words changed? it means obviously they are continuing the same slogans. atleast to a common public like me it seems so
