At 80, I can't compete head-on with people young enough to be my grandchildren, so I go for the nine ball every chance I get. Combination shots are the best part of my game so I make the nine far more often than you might expect. And I still occasionally win local tournaments, which drives the younger players nuts!
I'm from North Macedonia, I've seen quite a few pool videos where you've commentated on big stages and I have to say I love your commentary, demeanor and overall attitude towards pool. I was amazed to see that you have a personal channel like this, keep up the good work with these videos, because there are people like us interested in this content.
Great job, Karl. This has always been my instructional style of choice, whether teaching or learning. And after 54 years on the table, I’m still learning. That’s what makes this game a life-long passion for so many.
Love the subject and the format of this video, Karl. This really helps the amateur player with new strategies for getting through a rack. Very much appreciated!
Lucky I found your channel! 😀 You are definitely one of my favorite commentators, combining a great mix of knowledge and a “candid” sense of humour. Great educational value of this video, thanks! “Lovely!”, as you would probably put it. 😀 Cheers from Sweden!
I do like these type of videos where the pro describes what's going on in his/her mind while running a rack. I'd like to know your tips and tricks on how to make specific shots that come up often such as combination shots or shooting off the rail.
The main thing I learnt from this video is how important it is to get on the right side of the ball when that ball is in a loose cluster, so that the cue ball doesn't collide with another ball after taking it.
Thank you Karl. Great video again. Love the camera angles but most I love the explanations of the shot choices. Please upload more of you explaining how to run racks or what is the correct shot to play.
"Because I hit it like a wally"... I love your videos, because it's like when I returned to cue sports after 20 years; my mind said I can do this that & the other, but the table disagreed.
Can you cover 9/10ball safety's? I'd like to know how so many pro's can play off the object ball and run the cue ball 2 rails behind a blocker ball so consistently. Too often I leave the cue ball hanging out leaving my opponent a shot. Maybe also show situations where amatuers choose to attempt the shot while pro's play safe instead, or visa versa. Love the content btw.
Awesome video, Karl! Decision making is key. You can be a shot maker but everybody misses sometimes. If you make the right position shot you run out more racks. 😊
Taking over as the best pool channel. Relaxed and no nonsense. Could you please use the standard colour balls though man... Makes it loads easier to follow. Cheers....!!!
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife Hahaha... Each to their own I guess...!! I'm loving that set up you've got there man. Very envious. Can you do a full loop of the table on the scooter when you get bored...??? :p
Still remember the time when you commented on Jeremy Jones trying to nudge the ball out of the rail like: “come on Jeremy, I knew you did it, don’t lie” with such a British accent. Forgot which match that was but still remember that line 😂
you must or thought about that when u where a teenager , thats what made u so far ahead or the average player . your a great player and all the knowledge u share is a plus to the sport THANK YOU
Hi Karl. Great staff there, I love the fact that you choose simplicity in your game over super complicated shots and situations. Also I love your methodology regarding the use of rails in order to get the best position on the table. Your videos are helping me out a lot to understand key principles of the game (position play, intensity, etc), that I've been missing for years, and become a better and more efficient player. Keep up the great work and knowledge sharing. All the best and stay safe!
Really enjoy your videos, interesting useful content, sense of humour and the table cloth and balls are easy on the eyes. Pool halls are open again here so my buddy and I are back enjoying playing 9 ball once a week. Definitely have started using some of your advice and drills. Outstanding man cave you have.
Hi Karl Great video. Think a lot of guys would appreciate a video on your top 5 drills that helped you with cue ball control for 8 & 9 ball. Standing by
Thanks for the great video! I've got a question about your cloth. I currently have Simonis Tournament Blue and I like it, but it's a bit too "loud" and I'm thinking of changing to a color that's more neutral. Do you like that grey color?
Yes tournament blue too dark in my opinion, I do like the grey yes but I’m changing it to powder blue soon just purely for the tube channel as at first I felt grey would look better but my room is similar colours so I’m not liking the contrast :(
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife Thank you! I definitely see what you mean with the grey not giving enough contrast for the RUclips channel. Most people including myself don't even notice it when watching casually, but obviously you're looking at all the details and how to make your channel better. I hope your channel gets massive enough to where you can't reply to questions like mine anymore ;)
Nice video, can you make a tutorial video on when do we jack up the cue and play shot and why do we need to do jack up the cue and what happens when we apply spin while doing jack up. (Every thing we need to know about jacking up the cue)
Really helpful. It seems like leaving more angle and accepting more difficult shots is key. If that is correct are there any other key principals to help make these decisions when playing on our own?
Great video again Karl, out of curiosity, how come pool ball colours change so much? Never seen a grey 6 before? I thought it was really stupid when one set of balls had a purple 5 and a pink 4 too.
can you do a similar video but for 8 ball, and instead of ball in hand after the break have ball anywhere behind the baulk line. I play 8 ball using black ball rules which never gives you ball in hand anywhere on the table.
hey Karl, when pro players shoot the 9 ball with an angle, do you guys always put a little running side to make the pot more secured? That's what I observse from videos, can you confirm this? I hope that you can teach us the way to shoot the winning ball ; ) Thanks Karl for videos, you are a legend!!
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife hahaha. In other words, do you do a parallel shift with the cue to apply English? Or do you do Back Hand English where your bridge hand stays stationary but you move your shooting hand to pivot the tip to the desired contact point? The 5:25, 8:40, and 14:05 marks are what make me ask.
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife I know I can see that and it’s spectacular not gonna lie are you already a pro pool player I really have a desire to be a good pool player I just need to get an ok size pool table.
I love your commentary and am learning lots. However I think you should show us on EVERY shot where you are hitting the cue ball. Also, on the break. And where you are hitting the rack. Thanks.
There are others doing such videos but it’s different coming from a pro player. How often do you think three balls ahead? Or do you only do it when you see a problem ball ahead?
