Thank you! A LOT of TLC went into it, it was a real challenge to make (especially Door #5), but I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I was lucky the show was broadcasting in HD when I built it, it made the task of figuring out the blink patterns of the chase lights a lot easier.
Sort of am and sort of aren't. I actually like Door #5 and the silver light-up frames, but I've never been a fan of the whole checkerboard motif they have. And I DESPISE the way they've done the audience area now, with those LED strips and all the Goodson icons lit up. I'd go back to the season 35 curtains and bring back the flowaround designs they had on the doors up through season 29. I'd also love to see them use a black marble floor like I've got here, but I don't know how well that would work in daytime.
tnpir4002 Maybe the black floor would be used in primetime. Also I like the screens between the doors on your old Barker set. Plus the classic white flowaround design was used until the Season 31 premiere.
When I built this version of the set I actually initially threw in the same screens I used on the Barker version, but I thought it made it look too busy. And I should've been more specific--I know the white flowaround patterns were used through the SSN31 premiere, but I was thinking specifically of the pattern with the non-numbered logo. I also really like the starburst doors from seasons 31-34, I think maybe those might work with these frames too. I might mash the two up one of these days to see what it would look like.
I'd probably stick with Door #5--the pre-season 36 turntable was classic, but I like the door frame better in some ways because it goes better with the rest of the set.
Afraid not...I'm not really a fan (make that REALLY not a fan) of what they did to Door #5 a few years back, not the silver frame or the Barker-style "feet" (they work on the doors, mind you, just not Door #5), or the hexagonal plasma screens, or the turntable itself getting the LED treatment. I prefer the previous design I used with this set. Thanks for watching!
As awkward as the 21:9 one looked, and as much as I think 16:9 is the right aspect ratio, I'm not a fan of how they did it. The silver frame just looks cartoonish and the LED strip just seems awkwardly wrapped around half of it. And all those problems seem a lot worse now that they went and illuminated half the curtains with LEDs and all those lit asterisks. It would make more sense to me to have a more typical LED video wall there, but only if they made the curtains less bright so it's not just one big jumble of light and color like it is now...it's really busy and competes too much with everything else.
This season 43 set looks pretty cool, man! Good job!

What would you do differently with the modern set? I know you aren’t a fan of how it looks; read a comment.

tnpir4002 Go for it. Maybe combine it with the Season 35 curtains and Season 30 signs. What turntable would you use?

Will you do one for Season 47?
