I met Tony at a horror con when I was probably 19 years old. I admit I got teary eyed talking to THE CANDYMAN. I was obsessed with that movie at the time, and he was so gracious and kind to me. He took the time to talk to me about movies and horror and even gave me the biggest hug I think I’ve ever received. To this day I love saying that I was hugged by the Candyman. Rest in power, Tony. You were the best. 🐝🪝

RIP Tony Todd. I met him at MCM Comic Con in London about 15 years ago when he signed my DVD. He was generous with his time and a super cool dude. Night '90 is one of the first films that got me interested in filmmaking. He was the perfect choice for Ben, and of course Candyman is legendary. What a talented actor. It's a huge loss.

I met Tony Todd at FanExpo in Toronto back in 2012. Easily one of the most laid back, chilled celebrities I ever met and he was more than eager to talk about his non-Candyman roles. I told him I was a big fan of the Night of the Living Dead remake and his role in The Rock, and his eyes lit up. Very sad to hear of his passing but very grateful that I got to meet him.

My family and I got to meet him several times at cons. The first was at a local casino. My grandmother had seen him in a trilogy of Westerns he made with Christopher Reeve called Black Fox. When we got to his table I talked about Candyman and Star Trek. My mom talked about Platoon and The Rock. My grandmother mentioned Black Fox and his eyes lit up “I loved making those films, Christopher Reeve was a wonderful friend, thank you so much for enjoying them!” I came back on my own one day and we talked more about his films and Star Trek, but he was still so happy about meeting my grandma. A couple weeks later we went to Worcester for another convention where he was there for a film premiere and the cast was in a long line together signing posters. We got up to him and he said “I recognize you guys, my Black Fox family!” Then many years later we saw him once more at that first con and we talked so long about seeing each other again and by this time my grandma and I had been watching The Flash and he was the voice of Zoom. But he still referred to us as his Black Fox family and he at one point followed me on Twitter. On my grandma’s birthday I posted pictures and he wished her a happy birthday, still calling us his Black Fox family. He was such a genuine and lovely human, and an incredibly talented actor.

For me he stole every spotlight he entered! Candyman, Final Destination, and one of my all time favorite episodes of The X files titled "sleepless." He is one of the most beautiful men in the world to me. He always seems so regal and sexy. I really appreciated that episode of the X files as someone who has suffered with insomnia since age 8 (now 44.) For me 72 hours of no sleep and I start cracking. The episode revolves around a group of soldiers who were experimented on by the military for sleep eradication. They hadn't slept in 28 years. I can't even imagine. RIP Tony🖤🖤🖤

I’m from Chicago, so hearing the man behind Candyman, the biggest horror villain that was located and filmed in my home city had died broke me. Sure there’s Chucky, but people don’t really connect Chucky with Chicago as much as Candyman with Chicago. At the beginning of this past October I traveled to Chicago for about a week and when I was there I went past some of the filming locations including Cabrini Green and I was just in awe that I was there where they filmed this icon of a movie and icon of a character. I never met Tony Todd, but always wanted to. An absolute legend of a man and an icon of Horror as well as acting in general. Rest in peace Mr. Todd, your presence in films were extraordinary.

I remember watching Candyman as a kid I thought it'd be a good idea to go in the bathroom with the lights off say Candyman 5X's when my dad who had a coat similar to Candyman's barged in scaring me & putting me off the film for a good 10yrs. My dad although black was older, partly going grey, different build & probably shorter than Tony(dad was 5ft 11½). My parents laughed till their voice went hoarse, both my parents have sadly passed away & that Candyman memory is something I'll always treasure I wish I could've thanked Tony for that moment.
