I like the bite-size presentations, particularly when one is brand new to the topic. Plus the ability to come back a re-listen to the presentation is wonderful.
Perfect! That is exactly how we have set this up. As we move along, it will make more sense. Especially for the package setting video, it is recommended to come back and revisit as we move through the CPQ functions/features.
Some very thorough explanation of things like proration, but not enough time spent on things that need a bit fleshing out for understanding, as this is only the second part of the series, many things people won't be familiar with the settings or their meanings.
Mohammed, the package settings are global, so you can only set it at one place. I would recommend using the furthest out date as it would impact all the quotes. You may need to build separate functionality to lock down quotes on an earlier date per requirement.
@@salesforcecouple-sudhapras7930 Thanks for your response. Can we use Apex or Javascript to build that additional functionality to achieve the ability to lockdown quotes at an earlier date depending on the requirement?
@@mohammedazhar5250 I would probably recommend using config options like validation rules. Running triggers on quote lines is best avoided as the Salesforce CPQ package itself is running a lot of backend processes. Sometime we may not realize that we are breaking / altering default package behaviour.
Umesh, we have not seen any trailhead module on Package Settings. This is primarily foundational setup, as compared to the more functional aspects of Salesforce CPQ. You can, however, get all the info needed in the Salesforce help documentation at: help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=cpq_package_settings.htm&type=5
Hi I have one query 1)After the newly created sandbox and refresh from production are installed packages are also installed automatically(like CPQ package, roll-up package etc...) in the sandbox or do we need to install manually in sandbox?
Although these demos are very detail, the language that is used in explaining the concepts made it very difficult to understand some important information especially for "Use Legacy Calculator", "Contract Based and Asset based renewals". You could have simplified the explanation by giving examples. There is no clarity in concepts and its very confusing even after repeatedly listening multiple times.
Better prepare from Trailhead. No one can explain the way Trailhead explained each and every concept of CPQ. Whilst learning Salesforce if you rely on a RUclips channel only, you will see farrago of distortions. 😅
