    Absolutely love this movie. My uncle Denny took me to see this movie back in 1976 when it was first released. I was all of 9 years old at the time and I always think of my uncle whenever I see this movie. Later in life he got really sick, recovered somewhat but lost his ability to speak. I took time off work to go visit my uncle and brought along a blu-ray DVD player and the Rocky box set and we sat and watched Rocky together in his living room. It was awesome. Sadly he passed away this year from cancer. RIP Uncle Denny.

    I'm old enough to have seen it in the theater but was too young to really appreciate really it.
    I've seen it plenty of times since. The film has something for everyone, even the stupid kid I was. Great writing, casting, acting, and directing.
    This documentary does a good job of telling the story of Rocky. Thanks for doing it justice.

    So FKN sad and gr8. I miss the 70s and these kind of man tuff and love stories. Can’t believe we are all getting old and dying. So unfair especially when punks today can’t appreciate our world back then

    Talia Shire, despite attempting to make her look homely for the part STILL radiated such a BEAUTIFUL face.

      There is a innocence about her, a scared soft heart that needs a man to lift her up so she can be that beautiful woman for the man she loves. That is a very attractive attribute a woman not knowingly can possess

    “Favorite” underrated scene in the movie… during fight… right before inspirational going the distance music… Rocky is hitting Apollo and they show the promoter with a look of surprise, incredulity, and respect in his eyes that always resonates with me.

    Stallone's sweater in the thumbnail was very thoughtful wardrobe...it's a Phoenix ...Rocky rises from the ashes of a bum club fighter to heavyweight champion of the world.

      This is the kind of movie that I found out new things about even 20 years later after I first watched it. I don’t know if that was Stallone’s intention but boy do I love this story

    You would be hard pressed to find any other film that is truly an underdog Cinderella movie on and off the screen. They were all brilliant in the portrayals of their roles. Carl Weathers? My god talk about a find. He was perfect in every way as Apollo Creed. Educated, fit. Just everything you could want in the role. Same goes for Stallone, Burt Young, Talia Shire, Every one of them. It was like everything just perfectly fell into place.

    • @AlexanderBalboa20
      @AlexanderBalboa20  4 дня назад

      None of them expected for Rocky to have the success it had. It was the story of the underdog that wouldn’t let Stallone sleep. He had so much in him to refuse huge amounts of money just so he could act in the movie. Like he said : ‘ you have nothing to lose when you have nothing to lose ‘

    I always thought the fact Rocky found his true love in such a hopeless place was overall a very important part of the story. Rocky was a film I found very depressing, but also very hopeful, the idea that out of such hopelessness can come everything you truly wanted.

    • @AlexanderBalboa20
      @AlexanderBalboa20  5 дней назад

      Very nice put. Talia was perfect for the role and Stallone’s writing made you root for him. Adrian and Rocky were made for each other like no other characters ever been.

    Apollo was such a well written character.
    Most fighters were tough dummies.

    Carl captured him perfectly.

    Absolutely fantastic films! Rocky was released the year I was born. I have the complete 6 film set (plus the newer Creed films) on DVD; I've seen them dozens upon dozens of times & still watch them at least once a year. Sad times w/ the recent losses of Burt Young & Carl Weathers. I always thought Talia was an absolute doll! And who can forget about the great Burgess Meredith? Fantastic films. Just fantastic. ♥🥊♥

    rocky succesful for three reasons: 1- timing of the film...if it came out in 1975 or 1977 it would have been lost with all the other blockbusters, 2-the city of Philadelphia should have won the Oscar as a supporting character, the city was shown very well 3- the music made it work

    • @AlexanderBalboa20
      @AlexanderBalboa20  День назад

      Yeah never thought about first 2 points. The music was obvious , but Philly being a supporting character is such a nice way to put it. Kind of everything that happened with this movie had magic in it. The skating scene, Mickey and Rocky in the apartment was a retake , the story of Sly and his dog. Amazing

    One of the best films in America. It IS the American dream. I believe it is actually now been inducted into the library of congress as an historical film?

    • @AlexanderBalboa20

      On god if I knew this 😵 In 2006, the Library of Congress selected Rocky for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant".

    I love every Rocky film my wife don't like when Apollo gets killed in part 4 she will literally walk out of the room when he fights Drago, but we are huge Stallone fans, have watched, rented, or bought everything to do with Rocky, or Rambo, and when he makes the new films I've been hearing about, we will get them the day the are released, such a great guy

    I may have missed the part where they talk about how Stallone stole the whole idea of this character from the actual life of Chuck Wepner, known as the Bayonne Bleeder without giving him credit OR PAYING HIM until Chuck sued Stallone. Chuck was the only fighter to go the full round with Muhammad Ali and who knocked him on the canvas up until that time. Chuck is still around. Still lives 8n Bayonne and is still in great shape for for a man half his age. I know that because I see him at planet fitness at least once a week. I often see young guys looking at him without knowing who he is, and I show him a picture of him standing over Muhammad Ali on my cell phone. They can’t believe that huge bruiser is the same guy, but it is.

    • @AlexanderBalboa20
      @AlexanderBalboa20  Час назад

      That’s one interesting story. It’s not in this docufilm actually, I have a clip named Rare Sylvester Stallone Interview about Rocky and he tells the whole story about Ali and Wepner fight , it even has footage from the fight. You don’t have to watch the clip , I’m just saying he was giving Wepner credit. Might be after the trial, never really looked into that. Chuck will forever be remembered by boxing fans for that night
