So correct, this tractor does make more horsepower, but those locomotives are more than 200-tons heavier than this tractor and can produce 183,000+ pounds of starting tractive effort and 166,000 lbs continuous tractive effort. So, two totally different pulling beasts, but both cool as hell!

That lopey sound is from lots of fuel, like a whole bunch, and then some. Puttin a bigger cam in a diesel doesn't make the lopey idle whereas puttin a bigger cam in a V8 does

Diesel is actually better for the environment than gasoline. Diesel fumes has a higher oil content than gasoline fumes. Majority of the diesel fumes will eventually return back to earth unlike the gasoline fumes.
