2023 Season opener for the Vancouver Island Hare Scramble Series (round 1 of 5) Whiskey Creek, Vancouver island Roots of Doom Fast and Furious edition Lap 1 of 3
Oh dang into the tree at 8:11! Speedy back into the race though! So that pile up was already there when you arrived. Nicely done getting up! Almost lost that bike stand. Nice race.
Title had me thinking this would be at Snowshoe in WV with all of its muddy and slippery roots. Nice single track and would love to ride there but need to have more open spaces for passing in a HS race.
Yeah, it's pretty tight and twisty in most spots. It is a great place to ride for sure, and it's very well maintained. If you ever happen to be on Vancouver Island with your bike don't hesitate to reach out, I would gladly show you these trails! Thanks for watching!
Hey Christopher, I run Sidi Crossfire 3 SRS boots, Leatt Airflex Pro knee pads, Evo wrist braces, 100% gloves and an LS2 subverter helmet with custom made mesh goggles so I don't fog up. I normally also wear a leatt chest protector w/ neck brace but I haven't been this season. For hydration I run an USWE hip pack with a hands free kit mounted to my helmet. Thanks for watching! And I appreciate the support👊
Some of the classes behind us got held up at that hill for up to 30min, they actually had to make it an A/B split for the 2nd and third laps. I agree with you sometimes people have no sense of urgency. Thanks for watching!
What kind of start is that? You all line up and play follow the leader? Maybe you just didn't show the start. Seems like a trail ride instead of a race. Nobody seemed to be in a hurry.
@@BJBurn oh ok. Never seen a start like that before. We line up by class, dead engine start and when the flag man raises the flag the race is on for 2 hours in our local series and 3 hours in our national GNCC series.
@c6quad3 most of the races I've attended are either Le Mans style or dead engine, this is the first time they tried the drag race to seed starting positions. This is the VIHSS series on Vancouver Island Canada, nothing like the size of GNCC. Thanks for the support bro!
@@BJBurn I've seen Le'mans style starts before. Those are cool. It's dead engine starts for all of our hare scramble starts. I'm in North Carolina. I've got a rider that I help support. He runs GNCC, National Enduro, Full Gas series and select local hare scramble races. GNCC is his main focus. Love that series!
There's no need to get upset, my guy. This riding area was built, maintained, and stewarded by the VIDRA it's strictly for dirtbikes only. The relationship between single-track riders (mountain bike and moto) on the island is great!. Everyone knows their areas!
This seems more like a Sunday afternoon trail ride to me then a harescramble
A classes are much more entertaining to watch for sure! Thanks for watching anyway!
So what it’s a nice experience
Great 👍 stuff . Nice area to ride.
Thanks, I appreciate the support👊
you canadians are so polite. nice vid.
Thanks Paul, appreciate the support my guy!
Thank you for the vRide!
Thank you for watching!

I feel I got pretty lucky at the pile up compared to what people were saying after the race. Thanks for the support!
I was stuck at the pile up for over half an hour. Then we got turned around
@Dave Roil oh man that's brutal!
Not ideal but still fun. Glad to have the first one done looking forward to the next round
Awesome single track! Flowy and not too technical at all. Nice!👍
Whiskey Creek rec area is super flowy! Thanks for watching!
Nice bro
Thanks bro 👊
👏Ace
The little stump at 21:07 almost ripped my hand off twice.
Oh man, so many little surprises hidden in the Salal bushes in those trenched out sections. Thanks for watching bro!

2 wheels are the best wheels! Gels can be useful on longer races . Tape a couple where you can get to them or a small fanny pack. 🖖🏻
Yeah bro! Thanks for watching!
Good idea on taping the Gels to the bike!
@@BJBurn I do it on my mtn bike .
Way to gut it out my guy after that crash on lap one! great content!!!
Thanks my guy , I crashed on all the laps equally! thanks for watching
What gear are you in for this style of riding?

What’s the Bigfoot situation there? Beautiful looking trails.
Haven't seen any yet my guy!, but there is a 'Bigfoot Burger' just down the road from these trails that kicks ass!. Thanks for watching!
Is there a map there of the trails? I’d like to check them out
Yes they have a big map kiosk at the parking lot. Also trail forks or strava are useful when riding. Thanks for watching!
That is the singlest single track i have ever seen.
It definitely gets pretty tight in some spots!, thanks for watching!
Should be mandatory to pull your bike off the track, if holding other bikes up @11:00

The day before we had drag races to seed the starting positions so we lined up in order and no passing until the first corner. Thanks for watching!

That's not a hare scramble...that's single track
I'll make sure to let the event organizers know! Thanks for watching!🤙
@@BJBurn no problem
You are DNF! Can't show us a finish that didn't happen. I Can't believe you took us that far for the fail to finish!
Sorry my guy! only 1 go pro battery. Thanks for watching!
POINTLESS PROCESSION! Leave these tracks for mountain bikes.
