Wow, her accent has really changed over the years! Its amazing. She has lost her NZ accent, and now there are British and North American twangs all mixed together! Love it.
I can still hear some NZ accent from her just a little bit but i think because she played a lot of American characters now, she began to lose her NZ accent a bit. Oh and let's not forget that she's half Canadian too
The ending was horribly depressing with Bill dying but sookie found another guy and had kids so a happy ending and everybody else seemed happy at the end.
Matthew Owens just came here to say this very thing.....HHHhhhhhhhhot! So hot. While not a country music fan, I believe it was Confederate Railroad who said it best, “.....I like my women just a little on the trashy side.” She was perfect for that role...and it will be tough for her to ever escape it.
They're a whole family kids n eveything and it's so great they met the way they did their characters being lovers in the show and then eventually in real life too! That's a rare kind of love if you ask me❣.
@@davidmackie5850 agree to disagree, she was great as Rogue, just wish we could have gotten more of her. The character was treated so dirty, Paquin's performance was good. And David Mackie is also funny we can agree on that too 😂😂
SO glad she mentioned the incredible masterpiece Margaret. She says she was in sync with the director, Kenneth Lonergan, and it resulted in some of the greatest acting by anyone, ever ever ever.
I agree and can see why it made it on her list. I honestly could not see anyone else being able to pull it off the way she did. She is a gifted actress!
That movie was actually Martin Scorsese's introduction to Paquin that got her a role in The Irishman. I remember that Lonergan, Searchlight executives and the producer were clashing over creative control, wanted the movie to be under 150 minutes but Lonergan refused too. So Scorsese and his editor, Thelma Schoonmaker jumped in and edited the movie that maintain a runtime of 165 minutes which is approved by Lonergan. So it's pretty clear when Scorsese saw some of Paquin's performance in Margaret, it's clear that someday he'll use her for one of his movies and i'm glad this collaboration happened
She was great as Rogue, unfortunately i was so upset how the filmmakers underutilized her character and her talent especially in X-Men Days of Future Past. Thank goodness there was the Rogue cut that redeem her performance cuz she was perfect as Rogue
I think her hybrid accent is cool. Her rhythm and lilt is very Canadian, but it always sounds like her New Zealand accent is in the background fighting to come out.
When she's dancing with Jimmy at Frank's homage she looks at Russ, Tony Salerno and Tony Pro and realises that Jimmy is about to get killed. That was such an incredible acting and a really sad but important moment, and it also shows the impotence of being a woman in a time and an enviroment that is dominated by men. Call her role sexist, it's definitly the opposite of it, it's like her character is calling her dad and his friends idiots without even saying a word, just like it used to happen in the mob world back in the 20th century.
Plus all the scenes she filmed for Days of Future Past (2014) were cut out of the theatrical version of the film. I can understand why she wouldn't be so fond of the movies after that.
She was astounding in Margaret, one of the great movies of the 21st century (note: at its full three-hour length, that is). The Lisa Cohen she and Lonergan created is one of most fully drawn teenagers I've ever seen in a movie. Patrick, the nephew in Lonergan's subsequent film, Manchester by the Sea, is another. Lonergan remembers what it's like.
I enjoyed the movie despite the long runtime. Remember the fact that Martin Scorsese was involved in the editing room because of Lonergan and Fox was in the middle of creative differences, Scorsese jumped in to finish the movie in post production and thank god it ended up really well. I can see the movie getting a cult following and its one of my favorite performance from Paquin
I love her in True Blood and Fly Away Home. But she totally deserves the Oscar (as does writer/director Kenny Lonergan) for her role as Lisa Cohen in Margaret (fimed in 2006 but not released till 2011 due to stupid litigation by the investor, who should’ve never had the creative power that he thought his money gave him). I think it’s a magnificent film with great performances all around, but Anna’s anguished, confused Lisa rises to the level of an actress’s best roles - it makes me think of Bette Davis’s Margo Channing, Gloria Swanson’s Norma Desmond. I confess, I’m one of the three people who saw Margaret (according to Anna, only slightly facetiously), and it’s for sure not an easy film to watch, but it’s brilliant, unforgettable. She absolutely deserves a Best Actress Oscar for Margaret. (But that would mean giving AMPAS credit for discernment they haven’t shown in possibly decades.) btw, the title comes from a Gerard Manley Hopkins poem: Spring and Fall. I looked into it only after seeing the film. It’s absolutely the only time I’ve ever seen a perfect realization of a brief but complex poem into a visual interpretation - So so impressive. I saw it a week ago and am still under its spell.
Her career always kinda seems to be that she's in something huge, then chills for a few years with some smaller scale stuff, then gets another huge project a few years later. I think she likes it that way, though. It allows her to still be considered for A list projects while still being able to keep a somewhat private life.
Anna Paquin born 24 July 1982 is a Canadian-born New Zealand actress. She made her acting debut in the film The Piano (1993) for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. On July 24, 2022. She celebrated her 40th birthday.
I am suprised she didn't speak more on true blood. not only bc we loved her role but because of how long the show went open and the friends she had made not to mention her husband.
@@moviefan700 no she's wasn't that wasted. Playing a character like Peggy definitely needs a big name cuz Peggy is important to the story to fill in her father's life. Anna was good and didn't felt like she was wasted cuz Peggy can read her father's mind and scared about her father's actions, that's why she doesn't talk much. And she has that face expression and screen presence that no actresses have that kind of stuff

people complaining that she didnt have any lines in The Irishman totally missed the point. she had the MOST POWERFUL line in the entire movie.
Nick Rodriguez she was the backbone
I really liked her character, she didn't have to say much. You can just tell by her impressions
She didn't say that much because she was scared of her father's actions. The way Anna said "why" to De Niro was really impactful for Sheeran's family
Love you Anna❤
Everybody needs to see Margaret. It's a masterpiece, and Paquin should have won every award going for her performance.
I just watched the Piano last night. She is truly amazing in that film, what a debut for her.
Anna Paquin did a perfect Mississippi accent and no one else in Hollywood can do one at all.
