I met Thrash through Slayer, then I went to the first Metallica albums, Megadeth never got in my head, but it was when I heard Exodus for the first time, that a sea opened up in front of me. I haven't enjoyed a band so much since I was a teenager. I have been listening to Thash for over 5 years, (yes, I have heard it very recently). For me, Thrash is the vertence that most represents the attitude of Metal, that there is a perfect balance between brutality and melody, before I listened to more new metal, but this style does not exist fast solos and virtuous guitarists ... Thrash became my reason for listening to metal.
@Cynthia May I understand! As a teenager, still without the ease of the internet, I had friends to listen to tracks from the album Roots, and as I enjoyed New Metal, Soulfly served as a glove, never in metal did I hear anything like Max Cavaleira's AGGRESSIVE GROOVE. And it was when I started listening to thrash that I started listening to the older albums, as is the case with the album "Schizophrenia", my favorite. I confess that I do not have fluent English and much of what I hear from Sepultura and Soulfly part of the sensations that the sound provides, but it is great to know that there is this harmony that you reported
@Cynthia May Metallica have spitted out some milestones in thrash, I don't give a shit if you think they have sold out or are mainstream, thrash metal wouldn't be what it is without them
@Cynthia May Too refined? Do you only listen to moldy old demos that circulates in some obscure underground tape trading scene? When Kill 'em All came out thrash wasn't even a word, it was just speed or heavy metal. I'm not that into Metallica anyway I just recognise their contribution in the thrash scene, can't deny them that. They stopped being thrash when Cliff died, and that's that.
I thought this is was a good cover. I appreciate these vocals. But whoever is singing you can't really go wrong with this tune; it's so energetic and powerful. I have been listening to it with appreciation since it came out mid-80s! Bonded by Blood is definitely one of the great thrash albums. I think everything agrees with that.
Great cover, always will be 2nd best thanks to Paul’s amazing vocals on the original but works really well with dericks bark. Props to andreas solo for sounding like the original but sounding like Andreas as well, that’s how a solo should be covered 😀
I have been listening to Bonded By Blood since it first came out. But, I honestly think Another Lesson In Violence is by far their best record! And it is fucking live!!!The power and fury in the music captured on that recording makes me not want to listen to the studio version of Bonded. And yes, Baloff does it better!
Souza does a real good Bonded by Blood live, definitely plays it up just like Baloff does, same intonation and everything.. he knows what exodus fans want to hear.
jody howell Another Lesson In Violence is amazing! Usually vocals don't do much for me, but Paul is a monster on that album. If only his vocals we're delivered that well and sounded so clear in the 80's...
I agree. ive seen both Sepultura and Soulfly live and without a doubt Derrick blows Max out of the water. They are the same age pretty much and yet are worlds apart these days. Derrick is very energetic and talks to the audience while Max barley plays his guitar and stands still speaking a few cliched lines every so often. I do like the new Soulfly album but thats because of the new drummer!
I'd like to hear Sepultura do a cover of Speaking In Tongues " Grinding to Oblivion". I know both Speaking In Tongues and Sepultura both covered Black Sabbath's " Symptom of the Universe" and both did a killer job. I would love to hear their version of a Speaking In Tongues song. Maybe " History Re Eats Itself". They could crush that!!
I just watched the movie Piranha, and now I've been binging this song! Of course, the Exodus original is always king, Paul Baloff was a fucking banshee. But I also like how Sepultura did theirs faster and more in the style of classic death metal.
@HarvesterofSorrow316 Sepultura released a covers album called 'revolusongs', very diverse selection of covers, from u2 to massive attack to more metal stuff like exodus and hellhammer. Well worth picking up!
Sempre achei essa música do Exodus, muito na linha do punk/Hardcore. E essa versão do Sepultura eu gosto mais que a original, por conta dessa pegada punk/hardcore acelerada na mesma.
The let there be blood version is not even the original one dude lol. I was talking about the version with Paul Ballof, a real old school thrash metal singer !
Uma banda de Thrasheira brasileira fazendo cover de um clássico Thrash metal da Bay area , que me lembra um Death metal da Flórida dos anos 80 ... Sei lá... Me vem Obituary na cabeça, toda vez que ouço essa versão !!!
This was by the time Iggor was still in the band. It seems like they were able to play some good thrash tunes back then, but instead they released crap like "Roorback". I still think, when Iggor left, Sepultura died.
Man, I hate the Cavalera brothers. They ruined the brasilian Metal scene by not supporting other brasilian metal bands and sometimes even saing there were no other brasilian metal bands. Now that they left, Sepultura is acctualy touring and doing shows with other brasilian bands, wich is great. Despite that, I still don't think Derrick's vocal style suits with Sepultura(although he's not a bad singer).
Sepultura plays Exodus....this means...everything about thrash metal.... BONDED BY BLOOOOOOOODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Slayer has been around as long as Metallica

The first album of Exodus is a MASTERPIECE.
i am 45 years old. i remember the day this album came out. piranah such an easy riff, but fuck its so heavy. paul Baloff forever.
This is the thing I didn't realize I needed in my life. Man this is tight as hell and Sepultura does this SO MUCH JUSTICE. UNREAL MUSICIANSHIP.

The rythmic section is definitely bringing something else to this song.
22 dislikes? This cover is really awesome!
too many haters
It's great in itself, but they killed the vibe of the original riff.
I think so man, insane!
It is a cover but I like better this version, this is a Brazilian band and I love this band
Difficult to say better than the original version, but it's so good too
Paul Baloff was the only one for this song..... But THIS is epic!!!!!
wideglide1983 RIP PAUL YOU FUCKING RULED MAN
I agree
To be fair, this isn’t Max.
I think you mean rob dukes
@OrdinaryTuber 💯

I don't think so
This is an unbelievably spectacular cover!!!!Super powerful..........
Fantastic cover, Derrick is perfect for this song.
Great cover, always will be 2nd best thanks to Paul’s amazing vocals on the original but works really well with dericks bark. Props to andreas solo for sounding like the original but sounding like Andreas as well, that’s how a solo should be covered 😀
All in all Sepultura did a good fucking job here. Well done guys it kicks fucking ass
They fucking murdered this song! Fucking badass.
The guitar sound cool
Damn good lifting song. And if you love metal you'd better be lifting because the combination of the two is fucking amazing!
I heard that
We have a real tough guy on our hands.

jody howell i meant Steve Souza
If you disliked this cover, then you seriously don't appreciate music and the huge impact bands had made for one another. This is a badass cover. 👍🔥🔥

This was by the time Iggor was still in the band. It seems like they were able to play some good thrash tunes back then, but instead they released crap like "Roorback". I still think, when Iggor left, Sepultura died.
Daniel Paez they actually got better when Igor left
