I posted 2 months ago after purchasing an adjustable 31 inch 694 sporter as my first gun. Thought it may be worthwhile for some to give an update after my initial fitting in the shop to where I am now. I have since patterned the gun, made some adjustments to the stock, removed one of the weights from the stock and have now put 2500 carts through it. The most important of all of these was to pattern the gun. If you haven't patterned your new gun do it now..... I was amazed at where I was shooting as to where I thought I was shooting and how easy this was to fix. Simply the most important thing I did with the gun. So after 2500 carts am I happy. YES!!!! The gun fit is amazing. If you're thinking of buying one. Based on my experience you will not be disappointed. It balances great and moves in a deliberate meaningful way. I'm hitting clays I struggled with before. High driven clays off of towers, fast incoming, crossers and it's not bad on skeet either. The only limitation appears to be me. The gun will probably be all I ever need for clays. Am so, so happy. Once again Lloyd, thanks for the review and channel. I hope you know how important your knowledge is for people like me starting out.
I have just purchased a 31 inch adjustable left handed 694, (not the GMK Anniversary Edition) as my first gun. I can honestly say I am over the moon with the gun. I have never held anything that fits me so well. The palm swell and pistol grip are fantastic for my hands. I of course appreciate we all have different body shapes. But for me this gun is an absolute joy to shoot. I fitted the larger pad supplied in the case and dropped the comb by 1mm from the height it was out of the box. The adjustable stock is already lower than the standard non adjustable versions. I now have a gun I don't have to overtly lean into. Giving me much more confidence. Score seem better too in these early days. Have been shooting friends 525s, 725s, ATA SPs, over the last few years. The 694 for me is on another level. Also looks amazing in the flesh.... Thanks for the reviews Lloyd. Helped me so much before going g to various shops and getting what was right for me.
The search is over 694 le is the ONE. Almost bought a new k80, but wasn't happy with the importer/dealer. Too frustrating and everyone that dealings with them had similar experience. Dt11 too expensive for little gains over 694, same with f3 not convinced worth the money. So 694 for now and I'll consider another upgrade when the mortgage is gone (20226)
I have a 694 GMK edition, I shoot skeet with it perfectly, for a slightly heavier gun it's poised and balanced, with teague titanium chokes I took out about 60g of weight from the back, and it now feels like a superb piece of kit. I don't notice the tramlines either, but it does help to see if you are mounted correctly if you shoot gun up. The 31" 694 vs my 30" SV10 is night an day for swing, one is a swingers dream and one is a pointable yet capable of fluid swinging, so if you shoot maintain or swing through your personal style matters for skeet. I'll see how it does for sporting at the end of the month.
Had 32 inch barrels on my 682 and didn't like how they responded on close fast targets but they were great on long crossers... got a 692 with 30's and really liked it but I think 31's would be the ideal compromise on these models. Now I have a High Tech with 31.5 inch barrels... just right on that gun since it has more mass between the hands.
I’ve been using a 694 for a couple of years now. I really like it but as usual, I’m starting to consider the next step on the ladder. I’ve watched your vids on the CG Invictus range and they look nice, clearly you rate them but are they a genuine step up worth making? Maybe better to jump to a DT11? Would love to understand your thoughts on this?
The Invictus is on par with the DT11, but if I were choosing I prefer the DT11. This is a very personal choice and it's down to aesthetics and shooting characteristics between the 2. Really you need to shoot both and pick what works for you.
Hi Lloyd I started one year ago ball trap, can I ask you which ear protection you use in the video? I have a headset but it’s bit uncomfortable to me. Have a nice day !
Love the look of it. Don't like Beretta engraving - my fields 691 looks cheap (it is!) and my 686 Onyx looks much better (except both woods are not that nice, even when sanded back with an oil finish). Did hear from my gunsmith of problems with wood swelling with the 694 when it got wet. Is this an issue, or was it ever an issue?
@@DFox-ud3gx Hmm not great. I head that quite often the wood swelled and then you couldn't break the gun as the top lever hit the wood. Got to decided whether to stick with my 691 or go back to the mechanically stronger 686. Prob is that I've got on really really well with the 691, but I know the 686 is better made, even if the wood is something you'd fin on a scaffold plank.
Hey Lloyd I’ve watched all your reviews on the 694 and to me it looks an excellent clay gun, something you would expect from Beretta. Just before Christmas they launched the 694 skeet gun with 29” and floating barrels, would you be able to get one through GMK and give it your honest review ? as I’m thinking of getting one.. Thanks….
They say it’s a lively gun but surely it’s only as lively as you make it. I will only be shooting English skeet so what would be your recommendations on buying one of these and just using it on the skeet range ?. Thanks again..🤔
I guess that if the market is starting to slow on an item [and I do not know if it is] you can simply add a new doo-dad and an extra inch of barrel length to it and call it something new. But hey that's marketing...and people like us will grab them up!!
Lloyd, i always enjoy your reviews, but I think you're wrong on this, I had two 694s one trap and one sporter, held them for about 12 months and then got rid, ( bought 2 DT10s x trap and sporter) cant put my finger on it , but, they seem a bit cheap feeling, and the engineering is not as good as the DT10s.
Mine wiggled on the middle setting as it can from the factory. When I moved it back to the rear position it no longer wiggles. Maybe it wasn't tight? Maybe it engages better in the rear position?
So I moved over to a F3 Vantage from a 694 trying to keep up with the Jone’s the worst decision i have made in my adult life. The gun wasn’t anywhere near as useful as the beretta and to add insult to injury the midrib on the F3 started to rust. “Blaser would only do a repair not actually fix the problem” now the proud owner of a dt11 but i fear i will always pine after my old 694. Said times.
No limited edition here,I'd rather see them take better time on the assembly line for better quality then calling this a limited edition. It's taking me more than 5 months for stock replacement because of gun stock breakage and forearm crack problems.
Sorry I have never heard from anyone in the UK with a cracked fore end, not saying it's not happening, I just never heard from anyone who has had a problem.
I like the gun but based on quality control issues that I've seen lately I don't think I'll have one. Example; action not fitted properly, Ejectors not functioning on both barrels, Very finicky about cartridge selection chambers are very tight, Top rib coming detached, improper threading of choke Threads at end of barrel.
