I wouldn't ever mess with the wiring in a 110 VAC appliance that I'm going to cover myself with and trustingly fall asleep under. Doing continuity testing as a diagnostic is one thing; actually restoring lack of continuity is something else entirely. It's better and safer to pitch the damn thing if it's broken and buy a new one. This is a perfect example of, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!" Of course, that's my opinion only - but I kind of like being alive.
i have a sunbeam throw and the control turns on and IT'S NOT BLINKING but the throw just wont get warm or if it does it getsbarely warm, thoughts anyone ? thanks!
Check the fuse in the controller. If it's blown you might try replacing it - but do so at your own risk because some abnormal condition caused that fuse to blow in the first place. Personally, I'd just throw the damn thing out and buy another one, if you really must.
Do you ever strip all the wiring out of a blanket after it doesn't work anymore and use it for other things like tying up bundles? I was wondering if it's safe and not have any bad parts like asbestos. Anyone?
Older blankets could (and did) have asbestos insulation on the wiring, but we're talking quite old (50s/60s). Newer ones don't have asbestos following a general ban on the substance.
@@richardkallio3868 thank you. I don't know how old the blanket was, but it's good to know about the asbestos. The wiring looks like a telephone landline inside wire that goes from your phone to the jack in the wall and is flat.

It NOT silver solder. Dork!!
You do realize that a fair amount of lead free solder contains some percentage of silver, right?
