Prof. Azarmidukht Safavi is fondly called Nahid Apa. She is one of the best representatives of Aligarh tahzeeb. Her command over Urdu, Persian and English is admired and her perspicacious understanding of comparative literature is respected. She was the Coordinator of GEC(now CEC) when I was the secretary of the University Literary Club. She is not an individual but an institution. I have learnt a lot from her. The Aligarh Nostalgia deserves appreciation for this masterly production.
What i see she is hardly able to express herself in Urdu which is very unfortunate. Difficult to know if she is presenting her thoughts in English or Urdu. It will be much more beneficial for large audiences if she tries to speak in Urdu.

Kindly discuss Positive things but during this linguistics discussions Many big blunders by Politicians. For Very small gain Politicians spoiled the 1000 years literature in dustbin. The Heritage of Arabic/ Persian/ Urdu/ English/ Hindi etc etc lost in the name of Religion. They failed to improve/ consolidate to society rather than convert into Hate. What an unfortunate ending. These languages were part and parcel of Cultural binding but POLITICIANS spoiled with single wrong decisions. Nations/ Languages generates in hundreds years and scraped in hours. Iran/ Persian exists more than 11000 years and it influences the Russia, Afghanistan, India

She is indeed not only an excellent scholar of Persian but a good human being as well. However, ignoring the contribution of great Prof Hadi Hasan in Persian particularly at AMU the discussion is incomplete.

Persian was removed from UPSC as one of the subject during UPA - Congress regime and none of the AMU professors talk tough on this. Even CBSCE removed deliberately URDU and Persian as a subject but AMU so called intellectuals failed to mobilize opinion and environment so Urdu and Persians finished from schools so no future in India. AMU intelligentsia should be more introspective and self critical then only engaging in self praises

My impression is that around 20 percent words commonly used in Hindi are Persian such as dehat, dastak, irdgird, khurdbeen and so on
