Philips Azur auto switch off is not working blue light flashes twice

  • This seems to be a common issue with the Philips Azure irons. When the auto off circuit fails, then the blue light flashes and the iron does not work. This video explains how you can remove that faulty circuit and use the iron without the auto-off function. It takes only 30 mins max to fix it DIY.
    I normally don't produce videos in English, I apologies for the mistakes :) Nevertheless, I hope you will find the video useful.

    Excellent, thanks for this. Just fixed my iron.
    One concern I had was to be sure that the circuit was not fulfilling the role of current amplification - i.e. whether the signal from the thermostat was being passed via the relay on the circuit board. This might mean that the thermostat contacts were not rated to handle the current. However, a bit of inspection of the wiring through the amber potting compound reassured me...
    Incidentally my model only had LEDs on the circuit board, so I made my own capacitive LED driver.

    Thanks for video, if the wires are too short you can open the back and tuck in there, just make sure they not exposed. When I opened the back I was also able to remove the calc residue...there was a lot.

    I did it and it worked. I did not understand why and how as I do not have schematic, but still it worked.
    Thank you. I have money to buy a new iron, but I hate throwing out things than can be fixed.
    P.S. It is easier to connect wires if you unscrew back panel and connect the wires there.

    for those who think the cables are too short after cutting them from the auto-off circuit, you can pull gently to get more cable from inside the iron body, like 1cm per cable.

    • @benceler.

      It looks like you have a different model. Wire color codes differ from region to region www.allaboutcircuits.com/textbook/reference/chpt-2/wiring-color-codes-infographic/
      I am not sure what you should do with the black wire, but if both black and blue are neutral in your region, then I *guess* you can try to connect it to the blue wire (neutral). Stay safe and good luck!

    • @benceler.
      @benceler.  3 года назад

      I suggest visually checking if any wires are close to each other. You can try to place a thick plastic seperator between the wires or electric insulation tape to avoid short circuit. Also check the calc built up around the rubber gasket of calc filter at the back. The water might be leaking into the electric circuitry from there.
