I am very impressed with the meter and tone of the presenter's speech. This was very professional and easy to understand. The chalkboard style was very useful.

i have recently gotten into cycling and was not fitted to my scott cr1 by the shop. so i have to master my fit on my own. after scouring the internet, i came across this video. it fully explains the (in plain english) how to be fitted to a road bike. and, the guy with the video camera actually points the camera at what you are talking about. sweet video, thanks for the help. i feel comfortable on my bike already.

Nice info. Didn't know there was so much more info then the bend in the knee so there's no hyper extension and the seat height to be proper so the hips don't rock. Lots of useful great info. Thanks, I want to get a new road bike soon like a trek 3.1 madone, also looking at specialized or even cannondale road bikes.

I was always taught that to determine stem lenghth that your hands were supossed to be in the drops when looking down to see where the bar is in relation to the hub. It seems to work better for me to do it this way. You can do it either way depending on how low and stretched out you like to be.

Great video! It was really helpfull. Only when you show the angle that your downward leg makes when adjusting the saddle height, you're showing a different angle that is not 10-20 degrees. You meant the angle between the under leg and the vertical.

Perhaps go for shallower drops, I ride an old raleigh steel frame, kitted with modern groupset, bars etc. I use a shallower drop to most of my friends so not as extreme a difference from when up top, very comfy indeed, i take it's either your lower back or wrists or both that feel uncomfortable?

    the 56 seemed too tall
    what do you think

I had a pro bike fit recently and this is spot on. I only needed a few minor adjustments to saddle position, cleats and stem position but the difference it has made to my comfort, and my overall performance in only a few short weeks is remarkable.I'm definitely getting more forward prepulsion, with seemingly less effort from my new set up. So for anyone considering a bike fit i say go for it.

  • @lautoka63

Nice video; thank you. People should remember to make very small & separate changes. If you change both your saddle position fore and aft at the same time as your saddle height, you can't isolate the effects of the change. Do them separately. For example, I moved my saddle forward in two 4 mm increments after changing to a Specialized Romin saddle (which I recommend).

Yes, quite easily in fact. I'm 5'10" and weigh 300 pounds, and I prefer a road bike over a mountain bike. My road bike has an aluminum frame and aluminum 700x23c wheels, and it holds up to me pretty well.

Excellent advice! I'm going to keep this on my 'Watch Later' list, so when I get my road bike, I'll have the perfect reference video to make the fit just right! The *only* problem I can forsee, is that they only showed up to 6'1", and I'm 6'2". Oh well, I'll figure it out.

I'm a very experienced cyclist but I had all of my training/ racing on hardtail mtn bikes before purchasing my first road bike this week. I'm pretty sure I got the right size (56cm - moderate compact geometry Motobecane LeChampion CF) since I am 5'9" and ride 17" mtn bikes. The road bike feels comfortable in every aspect except when I am in the drops. It feels very unnatural when in this position. Is this just because I've logged tens of thousands of miles on flat bars or is it a fit issue?
