The amount of moms who have come to the school looking for a fight, the number of disrespectful kids being brought up to openly operate in disrespect, the vulgarity they wear on their very bodies with shirts that have profane language and obscene slogans on them, the amount of these people who have a mentality that someone should come along and give them something; I tell you IT’S ALL BAD. So if you don’t subscribe to that mentality and you are trying to break that mindset, the sad reality is “those black folks are already separated from the people in the community you want to save.” If they are not already there, they are on their way up and on the way out of the hood. When I was a kid I knew I was destined for better things than what was going on in the hood. The dudes who I would get into it with (even at 11 and 12 years old) are people who I knew would be in their same spot as now if not worse than that. True to form, that’s EXACTLY what happened and that was over 30 years ago. There’s a kid RIGHT NOW who took my spot and it’s various other kids who took the losers’ spots and that ONE KID is on his way OUT and that other majority is cementing their spot in the ground to stay STUCK in the damn hood. When he speaks about the community he ain’t lying! I teach and everyday it’s harder and harder to teach these kids because everything we teach them and everything good we put into them comes back to us VOID! You can get a kid to learn or understand something and then the first holiday weekend they have, they forget about ALL OF IT. The problem is that the ADULTS they live with and are around are ANTI-TEACHING THEM. How can we give and give but the moms and uncles and them put nothing into these kids lives but negativity? They aren’t trying to better themselves and they are actively trying to make problems and be negative towards others. The amount of moms who have come to the school looking for a fight, the number of disrespectful kids being brought up to openly operate in disrespect, the vulgarity they wear on their very bodies with shirts that have profane language and obscene slogans on them, the amount of these people who have a mentality that someone should come along and give them something; I tell you IT’S ALL BAD. So if you don’t subscribe to that mentality and you are trying to break that mindset, the sad reality is “those black folks are already separated from the people in the community you want to save.” If they are not already there, they are on their way up and on the way out of the hood. When I was a kid I knew I was destined for better things than what was going on in the hood. The dudes who I would get into it with (even at 11 and 12 years old) are people who I knew would be in their same spot as now if not worse than that. True to form, that’s EXACTLY what happened and that was over 30 years ago. There’s a kid RIGHT NOW who took my spot and it’s various other kids who took the losers’ spots and that ONE KID is on his way OUT and that other majority is cementing their spot in the ground to stay STUCK in the damn hood. You can’t save drowning people or you drown too, that’s not helpful. It’s saddening that is what we do but that’s what happens when you value disrespect.
