My husband had his own lawn care business for 15 yrs. He told me his legs were killing him when he used his Standard. I cut up a 2 inch rubber mat for him to stand on. It really helped his feet and legs. Not sure if you have that issue, but if you do may what to try it. Love watching you.

Watch y’all’s videos all the time.. I don’t comment a lot because I watch it on my tv and not sure if you can comment on the tv???? But I have a 94r also now for about 3 years and it started giving me the same problem also after about a year so I took it to the dealer and they said it needed a tune up and I said ok do it…. And it started doing the same thing before I finished mowing that day… not wanting to start and when I did get it started with it on choke it didn’t want to stay running…so I bought two 2620T Echo’s and one 2320T Echo and they are a little heavier but they get the job done and they start on the third pull and they don’t cut off 👍👍👍👍

We run a 94. Took awhile to figure out starting. When it has been run and warmed up, choke and pull 2 times, peg throttle at full and pull. Starts right up. Remove spark arrestor ASAP. It will get clogged up. And yes. Make sure to fill that dinky tank often!!!

I've had similar issues with Stihl trimmers and backpack blowers. I switched to Echo Red Armor oil this season and I don't know if it's a fluke or what but the issues have been less this season, so far at least. I was previously using the Stihl HP Ultra oil.
My son uses the Echo SRM2620 when he helps me and doesn't have any issues with that so far into it's 3rd season.

I got an FS94 last summer. I've had these issues:
    1. Had bad vibrations when I first started using it. Turns out there wasn't enough grease in the head from the factory. Dealer refilled the chamber with grease and the vibrations went away but not completely.
    2. Spark arrestor got clogged after 10 hours. Dealer blamed fuel. However, I used Stihl Ultra Synthetic and 94 octane gas in every piece of equipment I use including a Stihl BR800x and Stihl BG86 handheld blower. I've zero issues with any of them using this fuel mixture. The 94r is the only one to exhibit any problems with my fuel mixture.
    3. The unit was a little hard to start as we got into colder weather.
The dealer did adjust the carburetor. Since then, the trimmer has run very well. I do like its light weight, fuel efficiency, and good power. I will give it another go this spring and then decide whether to keep it or not.
Would I buy it again....probably not. The dealer was steering me toward the 91r. Probably should have gone that route but the inability to feather the 91r in low power conditions turned me away from it.
Would definitely look at Redmax and Shindaiwa as alternatives as well.

@@happysfamilywnc The battery trimmers still have a ways to go before being suitable for commercial use. I like the 4 mix trimmers. Just wish you could feather the throttle at low speeds like you can on 2 strokes. The 4 mix trimmers are a little heavy but with Stihl's version of the speed feed head, they are more balanced than with the standard autocut head.

Stihl is starting to take steps back. I've ran the new 94R. I have also ran and switched to the new commercial Husqvarna 525LST. The 525LST is the equivalent of the 94R with more power, a bigger 18in cut, and almost same weight. The new Husky's are night and day better than older ones five / ten years ago. If you have a chance try an LST. I see more and more switching in GA / NC.

Then I had a stihl FSA 56, which was battery electric, I was young, and I didn't know better, so I destroyed it. Then I had a Echo SRM 225 but I sold it. Then in August I bought stihl FS 94R with my own money.

I’ve always used echo and never had any problems. I bought 2 new ones this spring and within 2 or 3 weeks black looking oil is pouring out the back of both of them. I took it back to where I got it and they tried saying it’s because we aren’t running them at full speed. I didn’t believe it because I’ve never had a problem before. After a few more weeks it wasn’t running right so we dropped it off for them to fix. They called us to pick up and say it wouldn’t be under warranty because it’s gas related. I was about to get mad but the guy said he wasn’t going to charge us because he had 8 other new ones in the shop for the same reason. So he said we all couldn’t be the reason something is going on. So apparently echo had a bad bunch come out this year. I’m thinking of getting something different.

    Hey family!
Wonder if you would have a different experience using premixed fuel for your trimmer. It's $20 per gallon at Lowe's/ Home Depot (red can) so it's not cheap but at least you don't have to winterize at the end of the season and it's the highest octane available for small engines...just a thought.

    • @jefffaust89
      @jefffaust89 2 года назад

For them that would be a bad idea. The store bought gas both 4cycle and 2 cycle are way to expensive to run regularly in your handhelds when your going through multi gallons per day 5 plus days a week. Now winterizing/ hibernating with it. Putting in a full tank running it than setting it up for the off season if u won’t be running it till spring would would work. As oppose to having to run out your machines tanks and carbs dry. Unless your using your stuff as a home owner its a possibility. If u keep up more than one property I really can’t see using it daily/ weekly.

And I was never a Stihl guy. Echo trimmers and the 8010 backpack have been good enough to me. Since the block went bad on my 8010 in just 3 seasons, I might go back to Redmax this fall or next year with whatever biggest blower they have when I'm ready.

I upgraded my 130r after the 4 mix system failed (Cam gear failure) it also had clutch issues before too. That was under warranty though. But I chose the Echo 3020t and I'm glad I did. It's a traditional 2 stroke too and it feels like it has double the power of the 130r. Even though they are about the same on paper. The 3020t has a 2:1 gear ratio for more torque and a 20in cutting area with the guard. I cut alot of thick over grown stuff and I've yet to bog the 3020t down. Plus I think the Echo came with a 6 or 7 year warranty too. I will highly recommend the 3020t to anyone. It's my favorite weedeater so far and definitely the most powerful I've used too. But you can still use it for delicate areas. It has a really good trigger that allows for easy low speed delicate trimming too.

I had a echo way back and it did good but this is honestly the fist time I have ever had a hard time starting out of all the Stihl equipment I have bought. I also tried the echo blower a few years back and it would never start and the pull string and you needed a special tool to change it. I’ll stick with Stihl and every brand has its issues. Thanks for watching!
