I don’t think that this is the movie that will please you with a deep exploration of BDSM. If you think that, you’re going to get disappointed.
@007ODST I'm not looking for a deep exploration or a definitive kink film of the decade. I just want one that explores power dynamics earnestly and on a leveled playing field. The two leads can be drawn to each other under the most unlikely of circumstances but I need them to level with each other and have an open discussion about the equal amount of power they esch possess within their dynamic. If they filmmakers want to highlight that abuse exists in kinky relationships just as they do in non kinky relationships that is fine. Just as long as they show what a healthy one looks like. If people want a film where they can gawk at the forbidden desire for a person that isn't their spouce and they engage in kink then just make sure the kinky stuff is displayed in earnest.

I've been thinking a lot about this movie. I think it's a power trip for the two women and Nicole gets to "play" with an attractive much younger man. I think the movie is sort of self-serving for Nicole and Halina not so much for our good as they are kind of trying to promote it if that makes sense.
If they’re having a power trip while also delivering a good story about power dynamics in relationships, I’m in for it. If it’s only for the ego… well, it’s going to be obvious when we see it.

@ That`s fine. Just because there is cheating doesn`t mean it`s glorified. And there has to be no intention to think it`s hot, crossing boundaries and the forbidden is erotic for most people. Which doesn`t have to mean cheating, but I think that`s why a lot of people are not outraged by it occuring in the story, it fits.

It’s about time we got another fairly mainstream film that (seems to?) show sub-dom relationships are not toxic, the last being Secretary (2002). I may be biased but I feel that it’s one of the few (hetero) sexual proclivities that people, who are usually quite liberal in their thinking about sexuality & gender, still clutch their pearls about and feel free to deride as “toxic”, rather than a loving relationship which they, perhaps, just don’t understand! Needless to say, 50 Shades of Sh*te & its awful cohort did not help as that ludicrous relationship was nothing but toxic…haven’t actually watched that crap, but thanks to reading the first appalling book and to Cinema Sins for covering all 3, they infuriate me to the core! My sub fingers are crossed that this is as good as the trailers suggest!

It's interesting that this stands out to us, because this age difference is actually what we typically see, very often, with older male leads and younger female love interests in film, and (most) people don't comment on that.
